  • @bill2953
    @bill2953 Před 2 lety

    I don't see him teaching the coverage technique where a d-back stands flat footed while a wideout runs past him, then turns and chases. I only mention it cuz it happens a lot in the NFL.

    • @jeremiahhowe2956
      @jeremiahhowe2956 Před 2 lety +1

      Those NFL DB’s were never taught that. They got complacent and lazy and full of themselves. Problem is many corners go flat foot and motor back and have quickness that can catch up to a wide out but once in a while they get roasted for yards or 6 and they think that was a fluke. They don’t stay consistent with the basics. This guy on this channel is teaching straight up basics, works at every level. Good coaching here.

    • @bill2953
      @bill2953 Před 2 lety +1

      @@jeremiahhowe2956 I learned a shitload listening to DBs like Xavier Rhodes and Malcolm Jenkins.. The good ones dedicate to learning their target receivers and studying offense' tendencies in particular sets and down/distance. It is a science to the good ones and none of it consists of letting a go route run by you in single coverage on the outside. iow, no excuses man.

    • @jeremiahhowe2956
      @jeremiahhowe2956 Před 2 lety

      @@bill2953 that’s kinda what I meant to say, those guys that have amazing speed can make those plays sometimes even when they have sloppy technique. But it should never be the rule, just a once I a while lucky shot. Yeah his guy in this vid is the real deal.

    • @bill2953
      @bill2953 Před 2 lety

      @@jeremiahhowe2956 I believe you used the word lazy - it's a perfect desciption of the degree some of them apply themselves to the craft. Ramsey frustrates the hell out of me, all that natural ability and still gets beat deep. And the hype he attracts should translate to double digit picks every year. But nope..

    • @jeremiahhowe2956
      @jeremiahhowe2956 Před 2 lety

      @@bill2953 yeah. We all know how we were taught not to be flat footed. When I say lazy I mean to say they get into that over confidence and abandon their basic techniques. At that level I think it’s partially laziness and partially the fact that some of these guys are so good they make 90% of the plays playing like that but had they stuck with those basics they’d be robbing those balls like you’re saying. There are only a few in the NFL that I’d show film to youth/HS players and have them emulate when it comes to footwork.

    • @coachsuttles280
      @coachsuttles280 Před 2 lety +1

      If you get a double move the safety playing time your side of the field should take that deep route. I can be aggressive in 2 man and undercut every short route because I have safety help.

    • @jeremiahhowe2956
      @jeremiahhowe2956 Před 2 lety

      If you have the ability to study film and the wideouts you will be covering that week helps tremendously too. Many wideouts use the same two moves all of the time.
