    I was looking at this to see where the wifi card was placed, but seeing that you can install two is good news to me. I plan on getting one of these laptops and having an external graphics card installed via that slot.

    Just upgraded mine to i7. Your video is quite helpful, but a couple things i noticed- it's a T8 and not T6 needed to release the cpu. Of minimal importance, the 2 screws on the fan need not be removed as they as not connected to the laptop but rather hold the fan itself together. Thx.

    With this model, is there a wifi reception problem do to the Aluminum top of the laptop case. There are reported problems with a different Dell laptop and other brands with metal top and bottom cases. Thanks for any reply before I pick up a used one.

    FYI there are 2 m.2 slots in this motherboard, its not the full size its the size of the wlan card you can remove the wlan card and replace it with a m.2 ssd as well as the empty spot next to it, so you can add 2 more ssd drives on top of the regular hard drive caddy.

    I did everything the way you did in the video but my screen is not powering on. The LEDs are blinking but the screen won't show. What could be the issue.?🤔

    • @OpenMeUpTec
      @OpenMeUpTec  Před 5 lety

      it is work originally and you open it and now it is not working then you forgot something. the LED blinking tells you what is the problem. note down the pattern and tell me. most likely you forgot to plug the LCD cable back in

    • @TaijiArban
      @TaijiArban Před 4 lety

      It could also be the ram not being placed correctly. I had the same problem. I fixed it but taking it out and blowing on the slot and then putting it back in.

      @@OpenMeUpTec Thanks, but I think you mean the CMOS battery, not the BIOS chip. The BIOS chip is probably an 8-legged chip somewhere on the board, I saw two behind the fan, but I'm not sure which, if any, of the two could be the BIOS chip.

    Was just wondering, what are the best upgrades you could make to this laptop? (I own one and want to run newer games) I've been looking into buying an EXP GDC to go into that second pci port, but I don't know how I can tell if this will work or not? I'm a student so I basically live with hardly any extra money, so I'd have to buy a single part a week/two weeks. I was also wondering about what kind of ram I can put in it (as mine only came with one stick of 8gb), as well as what kind of harddrive is best etc (I know solid state, but which one?) & if you're willing to, any other upgrades you recommend. :) (anything, even LED's behind the keyboard)

    • @OpenMeUpTec
      @OpenMeUpTec  Před 6 lety +1

      buy a cheap desktop it will be cheaper and better. there is nothing you can do to this to improve your gaming performance as it is just too old.

    • @bobyang4112
      @bobyang4112 Před 5 lety

      Definitely get a ssd, I got a samsung 860 evo and it has been serving me well for over 4 years. You can probably get a small SSD to install the OS/programs on and keep the original HDD by installing it in the place of the optical drive (using an adapter). 8Gb of ram has been enough for me but if you want to upgrade get a DDR3L SDRAM 1600MHz (more info on the spec sheet). I also upgraded my monitor but that is optional based on your tastes. I am currently trying to get a eGPU to work on the e6440 as well; people have done it successfully and I recommend reading through forums like egpu. io.

      +STR77 CallingAllBattleFrontFans There arent many CPU options out there and also it will not really improve anything. This laptop had a i7 4600u

    • @massiveoni
      @massiveoni Před 8 lety

      heya, i think you mean that you have the 4600m now the 4600u, as the u is a bga chip and that is clearly a pga chip, the best cpu you would be able to install in this laptop would be a 4940mx, but that is a 57w cpu, and the cooling solution would not be able to keep up. what im guessing you ment is that you have the best cpu in the default 37w tdp range, which you are kind of correct, the 4600m was the best, but it has been replaced with the 4610m which is the refresh with a 100mhz speed bump. as for str77's question, the gpu not on an mxm module, and is integrated into the motherboard, so there is no hope of upgrading it

    • @tekgeekster
      @tekgeekster Před 6 lety

      Augustus Terra Australis not entirely true. You can use the wifi card slot to install an external graphics card. The slot is essentially a mini pci express slot, and works surprisingly well.
