    DMR is Designated marksman rifle to me and came across this video looking for rifle videos lol. Well I learned something today. I’m interested in this.

      @@HarryHamsterChannel I don't know very much at all about DMR. Or about most radios for that matter. This provided an easy to digest outline of what it is and what it does. I primarily use GMRS during my commute and haven't taken the next step to get a HAM license. DMR sounds like something I would be interested in if and when I do get licensed.

      @@tchambers807 I'm in a similar spot. I got a DMR radio today because it shares battery packs with my GMRS handheld and is also analog 2M/70cm. If nothing else, I plan to program the GMRS and MURS frequencies in at appropriate power levels to be my new every day carry.

      If I purchase a set of DMR radios and a itinerant license for my non-profit, does everyone I give a radio to need a HAM license individually? It seems that each radio will need a DMR ID, but does each DMR ID need to be a associated with an individual HAM callsign or can the DMR ID be assigned to the business itself?
      Seems there is a lot of confusion about this.

    I enjoy listing to local hams with a common scanner. Is there a way to hear DMR on a scanner or will I be out of luck when everyone goes DMR?

    • @BridgeComSystemsInc
      @BridgeComSystemsInc  Před 5 měsíci

      To hear DMR on a scanner, you'll need a digital scanner, a software-defined radio (SDR) with decoding software, a DMR dongle, or access to online SDRs and streams, while ensuring compliance with local monitoring laws.

    Not sure why anyone would want this over a cell phone aside from just wanting to play with radios.
    If hams wouldnt have gatekept their hobby so hard for so long with their demands for licensing, it's possible HTs could have the same capabilities of cell phones these days.

      Hi Glenn, DMR is relatively new to the ham radio world, but it offers many features to connect you around the world. With over 190,000 DMR IDs registered and 8154 DMR repeaters worldwide, it's another great facet of the Ham Radio sandbox, where there's room for everyone to use what they prefer.
