In Australia most of the fibreglass pool edges are at least 250mm wide so most capping pavers only hang about 50mm over the back edge. We use a high quality adhesive like Ardex RA040 and that’s it. I promise you won’t get those pavers off the edge of that pool without some serious leverage (I tried once when one of my guys installed a few pieces wrong. I had to use my hydraulic car jack and a piece of wood to spread the leverage and I almost broke my jack). If the edge of the pool is uneven or the pavers not calibrated perfectly, which is almost always the case, then we use 1mm window packers or shims to place under the paver to achieve the right fall and ensure they’re flush.
Statement just released from River Pools recording studio in Warsaw, Va: "no frogs were harmed in the making of this video, all frogs were relocated to an undisclosed amphibious resort somewhere in north america". Thank you.
Hey guys. Good vid and sad to see. We are installing coping at the moment. We have concrete around the pool edge but the coping was glued to both the concrete AND the pool edge (i.e. no gap between coping tile and pool). We will silicone it but is there any risk of the coping cracking the pool?
Do you guys apply a mortar or thinset to both the fiberglass and concrete collar? Or do you need to apply thinset over the concrete collar and then a flexible adhesive to the fiberglass?
Hi Jason, I have a question Fiberglass pool coping. Have you ever used the vaster coping? If you have any comments regarding how to install and would you recommend the product? Thanks for the help.
The Gaming Family No, I actually don't have any experience with vastec coping and don't really have any recommendation. If you have a salt system I would ask the manufacturer of the coping about the long term effects there. But good luck!
WTF? Must have been a landscaper or beginner? I use mortar with bondcrete on a cement base. You can use high grade liquid nails as well, as long as it's landscape grade for coping with outdoor elements are hardiness.
Mortar on a fibreglass pool? That’s asking for trouble. High strength adhesive is the only thing you should be bonding with to fibreglass. Concrete behind fair enough if the paver hangs over the back too far

Thanks for sharing. How can the border be leveled ? To install paver?
What you recommend for the footing as far of dimensions?

Still need a concrete collar to go under the shell and level out for the coping pavers to sit on and adhere to.
