- I take my drone for a birds eye view of the new lake in North Texas, Bois D'ark. Enjoy almost 30 minutes of drone flight with 3 cameras.
Got an email from the Bois D'ark authority,
Thank you for reaching out with your information. Bois d'Arc Lake is not yet open for recreation, and unfortunately, we cannot pinpoint an exact date when it will be safe to open to the public.
The current lake level in Bois d’Arc Lake is not yet high enough to allow for initial opening of the public boat ramps. The full conservation pool is 534 ft Mean Sea Level (MSL). Bois d’Arc Lake is still in the initial filling period and water levels must be at the appropriate elevation to allow for safe launching and trailering of boats and to ensure that conditions on the lake itself are safe for boaters.
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and the Fannin County Sheriff’s Department are the primary entities responsible for public safety on Bois d’Arc Lake. We are working with them to determine when conditions on the lake are safe and suitable for recreation and are monitoring lake levels to determine when the boat ramps may be safely used.
Also, please note that fishing and hunting regulations on Bois d’Arc Lake are administered by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. More information on current regulations can be found on their website here: tpwd.texas.gov/
We will be updating our website and making an announcement on social media when the lake is ready to open for recreation. - Sport
Great video Scott..... looks like a lot of good kayaking timber in there !!!!
For SURE. Thanks
Thanks for the little trip!!! Will you also do the other new lake for us? Ralph something or other..
I want to know when they are going to be opening it up for duck hunting. Would be a great spot.
NOICEEEEEEEEEE.. One of those Thumbs up is mine. 😆👍
Come get footage of the New Lake Ralph Hall! its under construction now. Its approximately 20 miles SE of Bois de Arc. The bridges are complete, the dam is not. Now would make great video 'before" the lake gets finished. It is Scheduled for impoundment 2nd quarter of 2026! Thanks for considering this if you do!
Will check it out for sure
100 Shad is what you’d stock a big pond with. Most of my kinfolks live around there . I think it’s going to be better for crappie than any other species. That area is known for crappie. I’d personally be bass fishing. Ray Roberts had huge crappie when it was still in its youth. They’ve gotten smaller on an overall average over the years. This is the first I’ve seen of it.
I think it will be a duck and crappie go to destination. Bass will LOVE it. I see no blue cats were stocked. Just like Fork.
@@TrophyFish I don’t think Roberts was either. They stocked a bunch of channel cats. They could’ve done it the other way around and I’d have been much happier. Bigger and better eating. I used to catch like 1 blue out of 200 channel cats. They’ve slowly built up in numbers. I used to always throw the blues back to help them populate. I think what’s here is what was in Elm Fork when it was inundated by the lake. No Smallmouth either but we have them in small numbers. This lake set 3 or 4 state Meanmouth records in a row. OH Ivey holds the record now last I checked.
@@jamesbarron1202 good info
@@jamesbarron1202 There have been share a lunker fry in there for 4 years now so there should be some catchable bass in the lake. "Usually bass will spawn when they are one year old and approximately one pound in size in ponds in the south. In reservoirs and streams they may reach 6 to 7 inches at age one and spawn at age two."
@@TrophyFish you couldn’t keep me off Roberts when it was new. It was amazing. I could catch more bass from the bank than I can in a boat nowadays. You could catch them schooling one after the other. Crappie also in the spring. The crappie aren’t in the same spots we used to catch them in year after year. Me and my partner won the first bass tournament ever held on Roberts. Fork was the same way when it was new. My parents had a lake lot there in the 80s and 90s. I’d wade fish and do well especially in March. Biggest bass I ever hung into was in Fork and I have 4 double digits. It was freaking huge. New lakes are great.
Do any other Texas lakes have their own offices????
Not sure.
THE LAKE IS OPEN
Wanted to know whenever you go to lake tawakoni if you can send an invite I would appreciate it
Okay, I see you must be local. I have been kayak fishing mostly, You have a kayak? Drifting has been pretty good lately for cats and hybrids.
@@TrophyFish or lake texoma that would be awesome stripers
Any new footage since it just opened yesterday? I 100% am "NOT" looking forward to fishing this darn lake on 4-22-24. I hear hype & don't see the fishable water to make it a great fishery. If the Timber is over growth that is still to thick for one to get a boat in it but has water over 5 foot deep where the fish can gather back in it, that makes for horrible fishing because those fish won't see a lure their whole lives. 🤣
I hvent been back myself. You dont think those SALs they put in there will grow some monsters with all that flooded stuff? The water should be super rich in nutrients for the next number of years
its a shame they had to flood all of that land and property where people lived for hundreds of years simply because of the population growth in the Dallas and surrounding area...
