How to get Internet when Internet fails

In this little tutorial I tell you how to still make use of the internet if your (fixed) internet connection drops. You need at least a mobile phone with a subscription with a reasonable amount of data. For normal internet use 1GB of data will get you already pretty far.

I guess you aren’t aware that you can just connect your mobile directly to the PC via a USB cable? You very likely already have the cable, it’s the same one you use to charge it

That's also an option, still you have to enable the Hotspot function on your phone and allow the pc to make a connection to your phone.

It is usually enabled by default (at least on Android). The only disadvantage of the cable method is that it will also charge the phone and if you are someone that tries to battery manage and avoid charging over 80% the wifi option might be an alternative if the outage lasts for a long time. You can also consider Bluetooth tethering as an alternative. Bluetooth dongles are extremely cheap and you don’t have to worry as much about security as they are such short range
