    Did this job recently based on the video. Great information. Found that the EGR valve can be removed without taking off the SAI valve or removing the SAI air supply tubing. There is enough room to insert the 19 mm wrench on to the EGR exhaust manifold connection to loosen the compression nut. Although, removing the SAI valve would make the overall job easier due to providing more room to loosen and manipulate by hand this nut.

    I just love your videos, they are the best I have come across thus far on/for how to repair things on a W202 C Class. You take time to explain what you are doing and it is easy to see that you really enjoy what you are doing. You do this in a way so that us part time mechanics can understand that with a little time and patience we can do a lot of the work on these fine cars.
    I am also impressed with your C Class, it is super clean which again show pride in ownership, kudos for that. Would enjoy a chat with you in the future as I have some questions if you are so inclined. For now I wish you a Happy Prosperous New Year!

      Well you may not be a Mechanic but you seem to be very knowledgeable about what you are doing. I guess the stress therapy is working. Your work has helped me and I am thinking many others to work on our cars and that is top notch in my books! I do hope you keep on keepin on with your stress therapy..LOL

    Watching this and I just realised how bare bones my 95 C280 really is: No EGR, No Smog Pump, No A/C, No ASR and TCS
    but it comes with a 5 spd Manual Box :)
    Love you vids btw, You've earned yourself a new sub

    Do you know where I could find the line running off of the top of the secondary air injection system valve? Also I love that paint job🙌 I saw when you first did it and was wondering how it held up, looks great👍.

    • @AndyPMercedesBenzChannel

      The paint peeled off, I had the car parked outside over the winter... the covers need better prep and need to find primer that works better with magnesium....thats what the covers are made from. Common problem....
      Apparently powder coating works better

    Does the shut-off valve ever need replacing or cleaning? I am going to replace my EGR valve and wondering whether I should replace the shutoff valve also.

    • @AndyPMercedesBenzChannel
      @AndyPMercedesBenzChannel  Před 3 lety

      you mean the vacuum shut-off valve? I dont think it needs cleaning if air passes thru.

    My EGR valve is still original and was cleaned 2 years ago. I am curious what symptoms you were having that caused you to replace yours. Would a failing EGR valve cause my W202 to have an idle cold or warm to have tachometer needle bounce between 500 and 1000?

    • @AndyPMercedesBenzChannel
      @AndyPMercedesBenzChannel  Před 3 lety

      I was chasing intake vacuum leaks, did a smoke test and noticed smoke coming from the seal on the actuator rod on EGR valve. So decided to replace. The new one still has a very slight leak. I guess they all do.
      My guess (for bouncing rpm) first check the MAF sensor (or at least clean it), second any vacuum leaks and third is the throttle body harness. Cant talk from personal experience, but many people complain about it the harness, it's made from bio-degradable plastic and with age falls apart and shorts.

    • @fixittony
      @fixittony Před 3 lety

      @@AndyPMercedesBenzChannel I also heard about the wiring harness. I'll have to check on that to see if it was ever replaced. The prior owner who was the original owner only serviced the car at the dealer. I am hoping the dealer advised them to change it. But, I will see if the dealer can tell me.
      I did replace my MAF a couple years ago with a new Genuine MB part. I suppose I can remove it and clean it just to be sure.
      Sounds like a smoke test may be in my future. LOL. Thank you and have a great day!

      @@HKstunts101 I have never done it, I like to keep my MB's stock. You can try to test first, before deciding to delete the EGR system - disable the EGR valve, pull the vacuum tube from EGR valve and block the end of the tube. One thing to look for is will this cause an CEL (check engine light)? i dont know.
