This spirituality in music that I needed, WHEN i needed it. I was a white, Christian, college student, being as different from Jay as you could be, but I appreciated what he gave me when my soul needed it..thank you...I'll never forget this....

Right hand to the Almighty, Jay Elec is in a whole other dimension when it comes to making "rap" songs. These are pieces of sonic art with movements and the content is truly intelligent and can tell the man who wrote it is well read and cultured. I see a lot of smoke and mirrors with modern emcees who spew philosophical buzz words over a jazz beat and people think they're a "real emcee" whatever that even means. Better In Tune With the Infinite was the only other rap track to move me existentially. Hear it at the right time and it might make the eyes Misty. I can't blast on him for not putting out new music for the people because I don't know his personal life or reasons. Just hope he knows there are people that would really appreciate it and could really use the things he has to say now and again for the good and bad times. Which many of his songs portray ceaselessly.

The disappointment of Jay Elec never releasing an album nor even a mixtape after becoming well known in 2009 from exhibit A and C is well known and oft repeated, but to me this is one of the greatest rap songs ever. This song reminds me of two of my other favourite songs, which are Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" and Pink Floyd's "Time", not hip hop of course, but seemingly a couple songs rolled into one whilst all seamlessly transitioning into each part but not being laborious in spite of being quite long for a song, and of course displaying exquisite, beautiful and unique sounds. This is the type of song that is best enjoyed with headphones on, eyes closed whilst melting into the music.
Jay has about 50 songs out with over 20 features. He's got enough material out there, it's just that his sound isn't "mainstream" enough. He released two EPs in 2007 (both 10+ tracks), Style Wars and Attack of the Clones. Style Wars is long enough to be an album, good enough also.

Listened to this song for many years. There's four sections of course with different instrumentals: interviews, first, second, and third verses. Each section in order feels like a transition between a sunny clear-skied day, to a party cloudy day, to an overcast ominous day, to a rainy day

I swear to god, Jay throughout time left little hints of the reality we live in, with wisdom knowledge and hope through his lyrics.

If i can be honest for a moment. This is the type of hip hop composition that gives me- honest to fuck-, hope for the future. I rarerely leave comments but, i dont know. I think it comes from life experience, seeing lots of things and being able to analyze things deeply and in the context of life rather than just where you're coming from and alot of talent obviously. +Jaikay1 If I may add. It's not just life experience. If you listen to his lyrics and his interviews he explains quite simply where he gained his light from. Even in this he says "Elijah" as in Honorable Elijah Muhammad, Nation of Islam, The five%ers (Clarence 13X "Father Allah") Then you can assume Prophet Noble Drew Ali information as well because all three coincide. It will bring about an awakening within ones self that hungers for the defeating of the devil you see in the mirror every time you wash your face until god is seen in that same mirror when your sinful ways (that being ignorance) are cleaned away. Then will the beast lay a sunder.

I come here two or three times a week for an escape and inspiration. Jay Electronica, you've lived up to and surpassed the hype, Sir!!
This is one of my favorite things of all time.
The disappointment of Jay Elec never releasing an album nor even a mixtape after becoming well known in 2009 from exhibit A and C is well known and oft repeated, but to me this is one of the greatest rap songs ever. This song reminds me of two of my other favourite songs, which are Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" and Pink Floyd's "Time", not hip hop of course, but seemingly a couple songs rolled into one whilst all seamlessly transitioning into each part but not being laborious in spite of being quite long for a song, and of course displaying exquisite, beautiful and unique sounds. This is the type of song that is best enjoyed with headphones on, eyes closed whilst melting into the music.

And this is why I love Jay's work. Brings motivation into my life.
Jay has about 50 songs out with over 20 features. He's got enough material out there, it's just that his sound isn't "mainstream" enough. He released two EPs in 2007 (both 10+ tracks), Style Wars and Attack of the Clones. Style Wars is long enough to be an album, good enough also.
