    I'm guessing you didn't record yourself adding that heatsink when it came in and the RAM that you ordered

    Atrocious ESD precautions aside, thanks for the nice high resolution look inside the 9510.

    What read and write speeds are you getting on the 980 Pro drive? Additionally, what is the OS drive and was speeds are you getting on it? There has been conflicting info about the XPS 9510 supporting PCEI Gen 3 and Gen 4.

    Greetings. Could you check with the benchmark program what speed of reading and writing that generation 4 ssd gives you with that processor that is supposed to support generation 4 ssd, to confirm if they really double the speed. Thanks in advance.

    I sort of came for the lid removing part, which you left out. I did manage to open it using flat head of a screwdriver as shims. The no NVME screw really pissed me off though.

      i would use the plastic prying tool and wedge it into the edge of the dell xps, where you would normally put your palms. The other corner risks damage.

    Which variant of the XPS 17 would you recommend for programming, photo editing, and free time gaming? I'm eyeing the i7, 4k screen, and rtx 3060, would that present throttling or heating issues?

    • @Teamdeparted
      @Teamdeparted  Před 2 lety +1

      That variant should be perfectly fine for all of your needs since it does have the new vapor cooling chamber, it shouldn’t have heating issues and no throttling.

    Thanks for the very helpful look inside the 9510 but this video is a perfect example of how people unintentionally fry their laptops. You mentioned nothing about grounding yourself before opening your laptop.

    Your upgrade list links to Mushin 3200 mhz RAM, while most other upgraders install Crucial 2666 mhz RAM on this model. Then on start up in your video it also shows the XPS did not recognize 64 GB RAM but only showed 16 GB again. Can you comment please?

    hey is that the 16gb variant or the 32 gb variant. planning to buy the xps 9510 and i was wondering if the 16gb variant comes with dual channel memory or just a single ram stick because its just listed as 16gb on dells website and not 2x8gb like the previous xps versions. Thanks :)

    What would you say battery life and thermals were doing basic web browsing, excel, or netflix/youtube? Speaking for the 3.5k oled model

    • @Teamdeparted
      @Teamdeparted  Před 2 lety +3

      Well in my experience with it so far ive gone around 4 hours without the charger and battery was still around 50 percent and thermals are perfectly fine its not till i start editing some big 4k projects where ill run in to some thermal throttle but for streaming netflix/CZcams its great on the oled screen

    I Just recently got the XPS 9510 and when I went to add an SSD it too was missing the heatsink and screw. When I called Dell shows on their build log that it was missing. However, I tried upgrading from the factory 16GB of ram to Crucial Ballistix 32GB of ram and it wont recognize the memory. Also had a bunch of little plastic pieces in my laptop.
