    Episode 101 of Love At First Scent
    This was a CZcams Live broadcast streamed on Friday 3rd July 2020.
    Unscripted. Unedited. Unrehearsed.
    In this episode, I interviewed Alexandre Helwani, Brand Ambassador at Histoires De Parfums, the independent fragrance house founded by Gerald Ghislain in 2000. We talked about the brand's latest release - This Is Not a Blue Bottle 1.6 - as well as their iconic 1740 and their position in the scented world. We also took a few minutes to talk about Helwani himself, whose skills include making his own incense blends, some of which he's sold to a few French churches!

    Many thanks for watching.

    Late to the party; I'm a fan of HDP. A number of their scents have taught me a thing or two in regard to my fragrance journey. Prolixe taught me how important the dry down and sillage is. Never judge a scent purely on its opening. Really enjoyed this video, thank you.

    Great interview! I’m watching it years after the video was initially released and Histoires de Parfums is still making great perfumes--and still flying somewhat under the radar! I'm a big fan of HdP's 1740, Amber 114, and 1826. ❤Would love to see a follow-up interview with the house, if possible. Thank you for the great perfume content!

    This was a fabulous interview, by the way, and not just because it followed Renaud Salmon's massive evasiveness. This is another brand I'm enamored with because of their approach to perfumes, and the respect to history's nuances feels substantially educational. Mr. Helwani is animated, interesting, and comes across as possessing expert knowledge in his field. Thoroughly engrossing! Well done!

      Thank you, dear. To be fair, as tough a question it was, it was also very interesting and on point. This tension is present in almost every trade. If you look at a restaurant's dessert list, you'll always find a chocolate dessert because that's what 90% of the customers will order and this chocolate dessert will allow you the freedom to make whichever fancy/unknown/quirky dessert you want even though no one will order it. Does this mean the chocolate cake is bad? It doesn't. It just appeals to a broader audience. Am I taking advantage of this comment section to make my point clearer? Sure but who cares! Thank you for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

    • @Persolaise
      @Persolaise  Před 4 lety

      Take as much advantage as you want, Alexandre. You make a very valid point. Thanks for writing. But it wasn’t really such a tough question 😉

    Nice guy, but horribly affected accent. A total character albeit acting. He sounds like an American actor pretending to be cliched posh British but missing basic pronunciation of things. For example: 'Brand' is not and has never been pronounced BROND, that's just ridiculous. And never in the last 300 years has 'clove' been pronounced the same as 'glove'. Ever.
