    Hey Josh, thank you for the first impression! Though we have yet to release the non-China version globally as of now, but we've taken your feedback as per your post on X and communicated them to our engineers to improve the experience in general. Stay tuned for the announcement on the 18th of June at AWE! We will be sending you a Beam Pro so that you can do a first impression and hopefully a review once we get it to you!

    Thank god I came across this video AFTER I gotten hold of Beam Pro for about a week now. Given that this is your first impressions video, the beam pro is NOT as trashy as you claim. Sure there are few bugs and some android apps crashed or refused to run because beam pro is not a phone, it is more like an android TV box. I don’t understand Chinese too, but manage to use Chrome, Kodi, CZcams alternatives and retro gaming emulators to work perfectly. Comparing to original Beam, Beam Pro is way better and streamlined my workflow. It’s like carrying a smart-tv with me everywhere I go. For productivity tasks, I would just connect the glasses directly to my MacBook Pro. Beam Pro is a major upgrade from Beam hardware wise and introduces more potentials. NebulaOS is cleaner, however limits 2 apps running side by side which I home XREAL will allow more under body anchor mode like the previous version of Nebula. The Player app needs fixing as the UI input works intermittently, but the 3D videos playback is smooth like butter. Overall, there are lotsa of potential with Beam Pro. For non-China users looking to get one now, you may hold your purchase as Beam Pro require registration with China mobile number, wait for the international version instead.

      Thanks for the summary. I'll be getting a US version when they start to ship. The original Beam was cool but very limited in functions. I have the Viture Neckband for my Air 2 Pros which is very nice but limited on a couple features because I'm mixing hardware. I was about to pledge for the Rocked Station 2 when I did a quick google to see if I could find info on the Beam 2 and saw the Beam Pro had a product page now. If it has decent battery life, I'm more than excited for it. Thats all I need. A clean spacial UI, traditional Play Store, and enough battery to use on a 4-5 hour flight.

With that said, this wasn't meant to be an exceptional camera phone; it was designed to be a companion device to the Xreal glasses. Again, it's not meant to take high-detailed photographs nor high-quality videos. Again, get the iPhone or Samsung S24 Ultra for that. This phone wasn't focusing on any of that; it's not what it was made for, just as you have gaming phones made by ROG and Red Magic that were specifically designed and built for gaming, prioritizing gaming, not high-detailed photographs. It is a multiview TV and I think it has around nine horizontal viewing zones as you move from one side to the other. But more than one person can probably reasonably share a single zone especially depending on the seating arrangement, so I don't think its strictly limited to nine people.

    This is not a 3d camera (yes it is but it’s not proposed to be only that), it’s not a stand alone product, it’s a process unit developed to use with the xreal glasses. You can use it a a tablet to manage some apps but it’s true potential appears when you plug the glasses and can have all those spacial computer features, other wise it’s an average device that can’t make phone calls. It’s still a new product but you can install all google play apps and services just like on the regular beam, despite it runs nebula os it’s still an Android 14 mod, so you can bring your own apps meanwhile developers bring new optimized ones on this. By the way I think that it can display 2D versions of photos and videos when you watch on the device screen just like 3D phones used to did a decade a go

      @josh_3D  Před 26 dny

      The 2D display on it is totally fine. I just am not so happy with the quality of the 3D photos and videos. The way I see it is if the photos and videos don't turn out that great on anything else, they aren't going to be amazing on the the XREAL glasses either, which is too bad. They could have done better and I hope they release a second version next year with higher quality cameras.

    This is EPIC lol. Yeah man, although this looks like a phone and you referred to it as a phone and camera a few times...you are right to hesitate to call this a phone lol. It's not a phone. The point of it isn't to function as a 3D camera. The first screen saying connect Xreal AR Glasses should've gave it away. Even Xreals own marketing says "It's not a smartphone but it does run Android". You can't review a product then call it garbage when you only have half the setup and you try to use it for everything EXCEPT what it's supposed to be used for. Plus you don't have a US version and complain about it working exactly how it's supposed to for the Chinese market. Please don't do reviews on anything you aren't familiar with again. Save yourself. I would say take this down but once mid July hits and these are on the US/UK market, the views are going to skyrocket. It's going to be really bad if you didn't try to put a micro SD card in it and move files that way after this rave review. I hope you knew it had an SD slot.....
    Looks like your channel is focused on 3D stuff but you set yourself up for this disappointment. It's cool that you got your hands on it so early though. Kudos. I assume this is a Chinese region only unit since they aren't released in the states yet so I expected bugs but complaining about the Chinese focused interface, file transfers, and it being incredibly hard to use outside the Xreal product line is wild. It legit isn't supposed to lol. It's not a US product (yet) and nearly no one is buying this as a dedicated 3D capture device to send files to 3D viewing devices. If anything, the 3D camera is a nice add on to what ultimately is an entertainment streaming box for AR Glasses. 99% of the people that buy this will only use the camera a hand full of times to see what it looks like with the glasses and never use it again. I legit care nothing about these cameras but placed my pre-order because I want a decent spacial/visual experience with my AR glasses.

      This video was just an unboxing and first impressions. I have been hoping for a good portable, affordable 3D camera to release for a couple years now. I tried it out a was let down by both the photo image quality and the software/hardware issues I mentioned. XREAL has acknowledged it’s got issues and they are working on fixing them before the global release. Totally get that the main use case isn’t what i focused on in this video, but there is a sizable group of people interested in getting this for the same reason as me. I was planning to and probably still will do a more comprehensive follow up video that actually reviews it more thoroughly. I know it has an SD card slot but that really isn’t ideal for quickly getting files transferred. I was very puzzled as to why the device doesn’t show up to view and transfer files when connected to windows laptops. Never experienced that before with this type of device

    • @mthusiastmedia9782
      @mthusiastmedia9782 Před 17 dny +1

      Yeah usually an android device will prompt you for USB actions when connected to another device but maybe the Chinese devices are different. I shoot a lot of 4k and raw photos and still rather pull them from the card rather than device. Fast cards and fast reader, I can do 50gb in a few minutes. Hopefully XREAL sends you some glasses so you can fully review it but don’t get your hopes up. I’m certain the cameras are there more for marketing than function. Still probably tuned specifically for the glasses but nothing to wow anyone. If you do get the glasses, the follow up video will do well especially since no one has any real content on the 2 together yet. Just gotta address the elephant of this video lol. Overall. For $200 ($150 for old beam owners) this is a lot of usefulness…if you use the glasses. I just paid $200 for essentially a neckband with a cable that can stream videos for 2 hours.

    I thought this was gonna be an upgrade to the original beam. Not just a camera with streaming apps from Android. I'll make sure to pass on that. 🙄

  • @Theguywith2thumbs
    @Theguywith2thumbs Před 17 dny

    So I think this comes down to the fact that I do not believe that you truly know what this product is or what it’s intended for I mean you’re opening statement you called this product a 3-D camera and that’s not entirely what it’s trying to be although it is one of its functions. Xreal glasses can be connected to a device called beam and it essentially allows you to turn those glasses into a media center and be able to use a lot of apps in the Google play store without needing to connect your glasses to a phone or other device thus making it “standalone” and this is the pro version that is meant to do basically the same thing so all of its main functions are going to be in those glasses even the OS is specifically meant for the glasses. I agree that it sounds like sharing videos and photos to other devices sounds like a pain, but I’m not sure how you can give this review when you clearly don’t know what it’s for. This is you trying to review this product as a 3D camera and not as a media center device for a separate product all together, no wonder it’s going to fall short.

    Its very easy to get the photos on and off the phone when you know how to, you clearly don't know how to.

  • @stephenbard1590

    So the primary use for the previous screenless Beam device was to give the XREAL glasses 3Dof body-anchor tracking so the screen doesn't move annoyingly with every movement of your head. This screen version of the Beam serves that same primary purpose, but also adds the 3D camera feature (to compete with the insultingly overpriced AVP "spatial video" scam), so I guess I am not at all surprised that it doesn't work efficiently as a standalone 3D camera. Even if you had the XREAL glasses to pair with this device, I find all of the different smart-glasses annoying because they all share this "bird-bath" prism optics that limits the field of view to 50 degrees, whereas I am typing this in my Quest 3 headset that has a FOV of 110 degrees (what little FOV there is has beautiful OLED color, but its like watching a TV 15 ft away).

      Actually the only thing that I have been sent was the screen protector, which I heard about and reached out asking if they could send a sample. Everything else I've purchased myself, so not too worried about that. Actually I really appreciate a lot of the Chinese apps and services and used many of them when I stayed in China before. The decisions made with this device like making it difficult to just plug in and transfer files are what feel frustrating. It forces you to rely on the Chinese apps that really don't work for most people outside China. Even the Coolpad smartphones can transfer files just fine when plugged in to a computer. Also, XREAL is trying to become a big name company focused on spatial computing, so I'm not going to hold them to a low standard when evaluating photo and video quality. Lume Pad 2/Nubia Pad 3D photos and iPhone 15 Pro videos have set the standard for what we should expect of these devices.

    Doesn't it have a 3D screen? What a scam, after spending money on it, do you have to buy xreal glasses to see the content? have they gone crazy? And do they record 3D video (NOT spatial video) in 4K resolution? There were already mobile phones 15 years ago that recorded 3D in 1080p and 3D video cameras... it seems like 10 years have passed and they are still selling us the same shitty products?

    • @josh_3D
      @josh_3D  Před 26 dny

      Thats what bothers me the most. They are using the term "spatial" and hyping this up, but it feels like exactly like you say. It feels like you could have found a mobile camera that takes 3D photos pretty much at this quality more than 10 years ago. This is not the future. Its not even caught up with what modern 3D and spatial photos and videos should really be

    • @ProfWereW
      @ProfWereW Před 24 dny +3

      It's an accessory to the glasses. 10 years ago there was a phone with stereo 720p video at 15-24 fps. That was the high end limit of the SoC at that time in phones. This does not have a high end processor for stereo 4k video recording, because the glasses are 1080p, the cameras and lenses are also smartphone grade, so even if it would have the latest and greatest processor it would just make the file sizes big with no real advantages. It is just a more advanced xreal beam, that has cameras and a screen so it can be operated without the glasses, but that doesn't make it a standalone device. It's just like airpods or a smartwatch. Hopefully it will have a smooth 1080p/60 stereo video capture with the final software update, because I don't expect it to have long support.
