I bought the second edition. I feel it might be a bit difficult to read at the start, but it just looks so beautiful. I like colourful books. And I think this contains enough kanji to keep me busy for a while lol.

This book looks amazing! I have seen it in your previous videos. I remember looking for the series online and I think there are three books in the series. Maybe I will buy them from you one day if it is possible ライト. Thank you for the video!
I'm actually using that children's kanji book as well as trying to read the death note books in japanese. Some of the kanji is in the elementary book so I was thinking seeing the kanji used repeatedly in the manga would help me memorize it better. I feel like it is easier to remember when you see actual words repeatedly that they are used in.
Exactly what I did. All of the best :)
Interesting video. 👍 :) I was learning Japanese years ago, and I also found and liked this book. Albeit, a bit too late to be used in my studies.
Btw, 小学館 (on the cover page) is Shōgakukan, the publisher of the book, and one of the largest in Japan. They publish dictionaries, manga, and literature.
The book looks amazing and fun to look at because of all the pictures! Wish I knew about the book when I first started learning
Japanese
I currently use Kanji ABC by Andreas Foerster and Naoko Tamura which I also enjoy a lot.
Especially the system that is being used. The only problem is that the last edition was published somewhere in the 1990s and doesn't contain the newly added Kanji from 2010. Otherwise it is a good book and recommend it!
Love you Light!! :X
Lol 🌟
Amazing! First graders are reading the hiragana/katakana to that level already and learning kanji too? Have you seen how low-level school books are in the US? First graders here are barely reading Mary Had A Little Lamb.
Just found your channel, I am very interested in learning Japanese unfortunately It's not a language that is offered in schools or universities where I am from, so I'll actually have to do it on my own. Any tips on self studing Japanese would be really helpful.
Hi :) I would start with learning Hiragana then Katakana. You can search them and watch some videos on CZcams. Also, download the application Anki on pc (free) or mobile (not free) and start small :)
Sorry I don’t have much time for details, but set small goals and find something you like to watch or listen to is a good starting point.
Best of luck! 🌸

I have the new edition and seriously, this cute book is sooo fun to go through tbh. It's full of colours, cute pictures, example sentences and other information that personally, I think it's more motivating to look at, compared to the more expensive, black & white books targeted for older students lol. But hey, I have a question though, is there any kanji book suggestion for the rest of the joyo kanji learned in the secondary school only as this one only formally covered the elementary school ones?
Hi. I 100% agree with you :) Amazing colorful book indeed and so cheap.
So about your question. Great question. I wondered the same thing. I’m probably going to search if they have one for secondary school but can’t right now. If they do, I’ll 100% buy it and make a video about it. :) Thanks for asking 🌸 L

Hi, so I’m just learning to read write and speak Japanese. At the moment I am teaching myself and I am getting a bit lost because I’m not sure where to go after learning hiragana and katakana. I’m not sure how Japanese grammar works either and I just started learning jōjō kanji (recommended to me). I really need some guidances, I’m not sure where to go to learn how to write read and speak proper sentences. I’d love to know any recommendation on where to start. I’m 16 and have about maybe 5 hours of free time everyday.
Also side note, your voice is very relaxing to listen too

Hi. See the link in the description :) just search 2500 Kanji on Amazon ☕️🌟
Hi..first off. Thank you for the videos. I have a question. Can I learn Japanese without learning any kanji or hirigana?? So far I am using Pimsleur and I love watching alot of Anime. And youtube videos of nihon jin people see its eaasy fro me to spell nihon jin than japanese person. I am mexican american.
Hello :) You’re welcome. I also started with Pimsleur and really enjoyed it on my way to work. If you want to live in Japan, unfortunately you have to learn at least Hiragana and Katakana. When you write documents in Japan, you have to be able to write your own name and basic information at least in Hiragana, Katakana and sometimes some basic kanji. It takes about a week to learn for many people so best of luck :)
Also, if you just want to speak Japanese and not live in Japan, that’s fine I think. Pimsleur is a good start ☕️ Enjoy / L

Chinese learners always bragging about it.
There're some kanji which do not exist in Chinese such as 氷,凩,雫,弁, 枠, 峠, 榊, 囲, 仏 & 竜 。 These kanji phrases are made up of Chinese characters but a Chinese does not know their meanings unless he's proficient in Japanese : 切手,案内,無料,我慢,怪我,手紙,肝心,初耳 & 心配
@108168 FHLPR, that is what makes Chinese languages interesting: they are ancient.

Through a stroke of luck, my University picked up a Japanese professor just in time for me to have time for Japanese 1-4. The written language is waaaayyyy harder than the spoken but once I got to the point I could recognize the hiragana (albeit not reproduce all of them yet) it became much easier. This is my third language so maybe that helps but I don't think Japanese is quite as hard as they make it out to be outside of the new alphabets.
My 3rd language too. All of the best :)
Light smith say おなら。please lol😁😁😁😁.
I just wanna ask if most of the Japanese read kun than on? Because i want to learn kanji but for me it easy to memorize kun than on.
On is is not less important than kun because there is a lot of compound kanji that use onyomi
Almost all compound words use “on” reading. So it’s actually easier to remember because you can learn the readings through those vocab.

I learned from Kanji from zero imo its the best way because you learn the readings and how to use them. Wanikani is good but I dont like neumonics because youre learning unnecessary information.
