Taryl, speaking of ducts, I wanted to mess with my boss years ago. We had to load up a bunch of ducts we had torn out. He wanted me to unload the truck at the shop, so I took the ducts and stood them up in a line. The boss came out later, and asked me why I did that, to which I replied, that for once, I wanted to see all his ducts in a row.

Taryl, you offered several helpful hints in this video so here's a helpful hint in return: (You may already know about it)
When using something sticky like that Valco HV350 or silicone or other caulk like substance, you can smooth it out using an ice cube. The sticky stuff won't stick to the ice cube as it melts.

I had a '64 and a '72 VW bus and did your 'solenoid trick' on both of those. They usually would start when cold, but when they were hot, the resistance would go up on the big solenoid on the starter, and especially on the 6 volt systems, they wouldn't start to save your life.😜 We'd use an old Ford style solenoid, and that was a sure fix every time!😉The engine in that Kazuma looks identical to the ones they used in the Suzuki micro-trucks that everyone is importing these days.

Hey brother T. At the auto parts store they sell vinyl seat spray-on dye. I used it on a gray vinyl Jeep seat and made it black. You should try that and video a test on one on your knee pads. If you like it you could do your kamakazi sxs seat. That stuff held up well. Five years and still going strong. 🤠

I bought a used CAT loader seat for 3 bucks and the bottom cushion was ripped, but it was a molded cushion, so I cut a plywood base, will drill holes through the plastic up into the plywood for T nuts, get some carpet padding and some material from a used toneau cover, and staple it all together. I also have a vent hole in the plywood base.

Ohhh I understand why the solenoid tip works. The old solenoid still actuates, but the contact to complete the circuit for the motor is bad. So by jumping the solenoid to the motor, that contact is bypassed and sends the power directly to the motor. However, the solenoid/motor would spin continuously hence the 2nd new solenoid, which only sends power to the jumped old solenoid/motor when the key is turned.

i had the same starter motor fault in two of my Mazda's (1974 808 and a 1977 818), the problem was aging wires not carrying enough current to the solenoid activation terminal. electrically it has 12v at the terminal, but not enough current to throw the solenoid pin all the way.
i wired in a small 12V relay between the key from the wire and the solenoid terminal, did that to the 818 twenty + years ago and i'm still driving it regularly.

i don't think you realize how invaluable this youtube channel is with videos like this. this is the type of common ad hoc repair that the average person can do without extensive skills or equipment. this is the kind of thing my grandpa taught me before he died, and i'm glad these videos will be around to teach other kids who didn't have a mechanically inclined gramps. and even with all the knowledge the mechanics in my family have, there are still big gaps that Taryl fills in, like how exactly a vintage Tecumseh diaphragm carburetor works, and what order to put the gasket in when there is no primer bulb. some of these small engine castings made in the 60s or 70s will last literally 100 years and be the last part of the engine to fail after every other part
