I think the impact of injuries also really depends on a bunch of factors. Such as your squad depth and the spread of injuries. The way United's injuries lead to a situation without a leftback and without a central defender for several weeks (if not longer) is just insane. Gary had his chance to speak to ETH and he did and listened from horses mouth. It change Gary's outlook of united and and the problems from the manager point of view. Anybody with sporting know how realises these problems are always there for high level sports people. It is difficult to take the steps to achieve a different level. A lot of practice a lot of concentration and a lot between the lugs (ears). That is no guarantee that you will succeed even with a good ear behind you and sometimes those that are not considered great suddenly blossom. It is a strange world at the top in any sport. I have heard from players who have said a wasn't a good player but after training i would go back with a player and he would hit different king of shots foe me to run down the wing to come onto and cross into the box it was hard work but i was able to do it. He also wasn't a good golfer but he practiced along side me won a club championship and still said he wasn't a good player but he worked at that because he wanted to be a club champion. So all sports as you get better has gates for you to go through that you have to practice for and there aint any guarantees believe me.
