Taping the carbon fiber is actually a great idea. That'll keep it from splintering

Very cool. The tape on black surfaces is brilliant. I may have to try out the router idea one day. Thanks for sharing.

Great video Jordan...... I get you on destroying the blades as I was cutting some 1/4 thick Jade G10 for Butt caps on a sweet birch natty and it totally removed the teeth in the scroll saw blade.

Awesome video, but I don't agree with the gloves. They can catch on the bit and do even more damage by pulling your hand in and getting caught. I've herd this from the instructions and my GPA who is a professional wood worker. I made a simple jig to hold slingshots when I'm using bigger bits. Cool vid though 👌

Hi from England. Just got in to slingshot shooting and making them. Your videos are great.can you please tell me if theres a part two of this video as i would like to make a carbon and polycarbonate with the round over bit. Keep up the good work.

Cool video, thanks for sharing. Some thoughts from a different angle. In Leatherworking I use a bookbinding press to laminate leather. Or for applying linings. It would be the business for laminating carbon fiber to polycarbonate.
When trimming the carbon fiber, you attach it to the template. Then remove it and remove the tape and attach to the core. I’m curious why you don’t use the new core as the template for the carbon fiber? It seems like it would save a few steps and make an exact match (lineup) with the core.
I appreciate you sharing your knowledge.

It's purely and simply because I don't want to risk ruining the new core if I don't have to. I'm still learning and using the router is still relatively new to me. After I make the core, if it's in good shape I don't want to risk messing it up again.
I've had router bits break, bearings come loose, and I've gone through a few would-be cores. I have back up templates too for that reason.

Please get rid of the gloves! Every accident I've seen in wood shops was because of gloves or aprons. Loose materials wrap around spinning shafts and pull you in!!! Over 40 year's using routers and I still have all my fingers!

You should not wear gloves, if it catches it will pull your fingers in and be worse than if you didn’t. In general when using machinery less clothing is better. Trust me stop wearing gloves, I know in theory it makes sense, but not in reality.
