And if you’re a reseller wanting to learn how to sell on eBay and how I run a successful eBay business selling second hand items from the thrift store then this is DEFINITELY the place for YOU! On this channel, I upload 2-3 videos a week surrounding topics such as tips for selling on eBay and how to make money selling stuff on eBay. I help you get a better understanding of what it's like being a full time eBay reseller and I'll show you what I do all day as a eBay reseller in my weekly reselling vlogs. And I basically answer any and all questions any eBay resellers may have who are looking to grow their eBay business!
You might need a GoPro with chest harness. Then you can film and work at same time without even thinking about the filming part. Thats a birthday gift idea for Thom haha
Thirty minute video felt like five! Loved it!
Yay, thank you Amber!
They have that well organized! Great finds. I love that so many people still love actual books 📚
It's a wonderful organised organisation. The Lifeline bookfairs within Australia are wonderful.
Thanks for taking us along. That was interesting and a $400 book WOW! Nice find.
Fingers crossed I can sell it for a high price. That one was a new book so it might fetch more. I’ll do some further research before listing.
I have been going to Lifeline Bookfest for years and as a book collector I have never been bothered by booksellers purchasing their stock. There is thousands of books and it’s fantastic to see businesses buying their books from a wonderful grassroots charity rather than some international corporation. I just can’t see what’s not to love! Keep hauling those books! 💪❤
Thank you for sharing! We all want to rehome as many books as possible. There is so many books and Lifeline just need to sell them and make as much money as they can to help them. I appreciate your support.
I always attend the Bookfest in Brisbane and it is MASSIVE. Each event raises over $1 million for Lifeline! Yay for booksellers!
Brenda is a star. She works SO hard!
She is amazing! Such a beautiful lady.
Mel: excitedly shows Thom $400 book.
Thom: Yeah, well, that’s nice. 😂😂😂
Secretly jealous ha ha ha ha
Oh, he’s super concerned about the seller rankings!
Yea what’s up with that! How bout a bit more enthusiasm for your gal’s successes?! ❤
I saw that too. Tom is unshakable
I'm a little jealous of the prices you're able to get for books in Australia. Really amazing book fair! I think the staff treat you well because you're a delight to be around, not just that you spend money there. Thank you for sharing your shopping day and congrats on all the great finds!
The motives are good when you average them out. I’ve been shopping with them a long time so the staff are familiar with me :)
I have loved every minute of being at the book fair with you Mel. I did get a bit dizzy 🥴 a few times because you work so fast, running in & out of the aisles & dodging all the other buyers. Many thanks for working so hard and taking us with you. xx💗xx
Yes it’s hard to film and source/work. I always stress about the quality of footage while I try and do it all. Thank you for watching me!
Burrrrr!!!! Stay warm! Thanks for sharing all of the great videos! My fav CZcamsr for sure! Love your plan for shopping. You scored Mel! Fun! Nice sale.
Love watching you shop the book fair Mel. It’s never boring watching you find some great stock.🙂
Thanks so much 😊
I have never heard of such an event here in the states! That was a pretty interesting fundraiser! ❤. Well done finding such great inventory for your business! ❤
Oh really? You don’t have bookfairs in the states? Wow! We have them all over the country here.
@@backfromburnoutWhat is called a Book Fair here in the US or at least in the state of Georgia, is a celebration of Authors who showcase their books, give interviews and possibly writing seminars etc. It’s not a place to shop for books. We have local library sales for used books or the elementary schools have book fairs for children’s books only but I can’t find anywhere they have what I’ve just seen on your video.
@@backfromburnout We definitely have book fairs in the US😊
Hi Mel, love all your videos but this was great! I know you said it was difficult to film and pick at a book fair, but more of these videos please. You are so organised and it was great Lifeline had a table for you 😀😀👍
Ok thank you. I always worry the camera footage isn’t straight and I cut peoples heads off lol. It’s just hard to push the trolley, hold the camera, pick the books and price comp on the other phone. I have high expectations on myself and how I want the quality so I always stress the bookfair footage isn’t good enough. I filmed another one a few weeks ago but it had loud music playing so I have to voice over and it will be a bit harder to edit but I’ll get it out soon.
Heading to another bookfair tomorrow so will try and film that one :)
@@backfromburnout maybe you can get something like hairy tornado has that can hold the camera on you while you’re searching so both your hands are free. Also love these videos too
I've watched this twice. It's so fun watching you pick the books.
Thank you!
@@backfromburnout❤
You are such a breath of fresh air!! Look at all the people that are excited to see you and talk to you and you are so genuine! ❤️
Mel, I saw a book in your trolley that I liked. The Austalian boating book. I used to teach safe boating and used the equivalent in the US called Chapman's book. I enjoyed this adventure.
That's a great book! Hopefully I can sell that around the $50
What a great selection of books Mel. Loved to see you find that 400 dollar book. You are freezing and we hit 32c in our car today. Phew,! Hope you managed to find more gems the next day. Looks like you will have to move into that new warehouse sooner rather than later. Have fun photographing and listing all those books. Love from sunny Spain xx
The $400 book was a new one but hopefully I can still get a great price for it!
12:45 looks like Britannica Great Books of the Western World usually around $500 usd
Dang. Learn something new everyday! Thank you for teaching me something new. I appreciate that!
Thank you for sharing the price of the books at your wonderful book fair! At the last 2 trips to my Goodwill the prices were that high for obvious popular books. I have to take my toddler grandson with me so it gets very difficult to comp in the store. You have a very good strategy!
I like to average them out at the end and work from averages.
Yes a clax carrier ! I bring them to all the farmers markets and everyone always asks about it. My favorite cart
I just ordered a second, I love them!
Thanks for taking us along! I haven’t done a book fair to source books yet! That one looks very well run!!
Lifeline are extremely well run bookfairs. Wonderful staff and volunteers.
Pls do more like this am learning lots from you
Thank you!
Absolutely one of my favourite videos of yours Mel! Thank you! And, I have watched most, if not all, of your videos.
Wow, thank you! I appreciate that!
What a great video! It was exciting to see you find a lot of great books. Thank you for bringing us along :)
Thanks for watching!
Holly mackerel that’s some books ma’am.. and it’s 107 in Florida today and you’re freezing hahah
Winter is cold where I live! I’m only a couple of hours away from the snow fields.
You even had to do a bit of off road trollying to get in that big queue wrapped around that building! I like your trolly, looks light weight and good quality, perfect! Easy for you to spot Thom amongst the crowds in his orange fluorescent fleece 🤩 Thanks Mel for bringing us along, enjoyed it !!
I don’t think he will ever wear the fluro to a bookfair again ha ha. He was a little sick that day and finds the fluro warm.
It’s the best trolley. I just ordered a second one for back up :)
GREAT JOB MEL, you were highly focused and got some great picks 📚 📖
Thank you!! 😁
As a junior re seller. You inspire me greatly. Thankyou
Thank you! We all start somewhere! I was a small seller in my living room also not long ago!
By the time you only get book in the car you have handled it: into the trolly, onto the table, into the car, into your warehouse, and then onto the table for listing. That is physically heavy work. You must be very strong!
It is a laborious job selling books. Some of them are very heavy. Some days I enjoy a hot magnesium bath after a long day.
I love these book fair videos so much! Thanks for making them!
Glad you like them!
That was amazing!! Never seen anything like it. I loved so many of those hard backs - cooking and gardening. Hope you do really well out of it Mel.
I hope so too! Thank you!
Thanks for sharing ! Loved it!
Mel, I love how you know so many people by name. It's a wonderful community you have. ❤
It really is! And I’m lucky to meet other resellers at the bookfairs who approach me
We filled 44 x supermarket bags at the Yarragon book fair. Their prices are $1 softcover, $2 hardcover.
Personal bugbear at sales is when friends and family come afterwards and push in to the queue.
Wow, what an amazing sale, i love your focus when shopping. Why on earth would anyone gripe about you buying lots of books, there are millions there and like you said you pay what everyone else pays for a book.
Some people strongly dislike resellers as they think we take all the good books. As you can see there is thousands of books! First in best dressed, I pay the same as anyone else and buy a lot more which contributes $$$ to the charity which is the aim of the bookfair. They need money and I have it to give :) I contribute tens of thousands to the charity shops and organisations.
what a great great great vid and congrats on your haul mel!!!
Great video Mel!!
So excited! Wish we had one in my area!
They are great, we travel a lot to go to them.
Thank you Mel for sharing. Very cool seeing this! Not done yet but loving this one
Thank you Kristie and Tim!
Epic score on the Epic $415 book 🤯
Fingers crossed! That one was new and mine isn’t but I’ll hope for a high price!
So cool to watch thanks Mel
Thanks James
It's so interesting to watch your approach and method. I was inspired (by you!) to try reselling books a few years ago. I went to our annual book fair, which is at a fairground area here. I was definitely overwhelmed and did not pick well at all. Plus the books are very heavy as you said. I might try again next year, now that I have some experience behind me. I am an 'everything' seller still. I do love selling books but not sourcing them.
Loved this book fair vid. Thanks for taking us with you. I want to do a book fair when I grow up. Ha! Part time side hustle seller here. Regularly learn so much from you. Thnx!
You can do it! Thank you so much!
Loved this so much! You’re amazing at what you do!!! Not sure if I’ll ever be a book seller at that level but because of you I always look up a couple of them wherever I’m sourcing at. 😘
Books are great to add a few into your store at anytime! When I was a clothing and shoe seller I always had a small amount of books in my store.
That book fair would be heaven for me! I'd spend that much for my personal library. LOL.
Love it! This was also only what I spent day 1 LOL
Love, love, loved this book fair clip and watching you in action: selection method, speed and positive attitude. Book fair shopping is the only 'sport' I play 😂 and I barely worry anymore about the odd looks I get when price comping and stacking up big book piles. I agree, it's certainly exhausting with all that visual overload and trying to quickly price judge by eye or comp on a little screen. Xx
Honestly there is so many people there buying up large loads. If people ask me why I’m buying so many I just tell them I’m a dealer. I find they like and react better to the word dealer rather than reseller. The bigger bookfairs like Lifeline welcome resellers. It’s the smaller small town bookfairs that sometimes struggle with the idea of what we do. At the end of the day we’re all just trying to rehome an abundance of unwanted books.
I enjoy your videos so much and then you add the books and fairs and Thom WOW. You deserve the best. Bringing you much love and warmth from sunny South Florida. 🎉❤❤❤❤4th of July 🇺🇸
Yay perfect timing ❤
Yay! 🎉
Tom seems like a really solid dude.
He’s a keeper!
That would be so overwhelming to me... all those books and people
It is a lot and there are much busier bookfairs than this one.
I really enjoyed this video. You have inspired me to find something like this book fair near me. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us! I can imagine it’s difficult to juggle the camera while you are on the move. Have a blessed day!
Thank you! Good luck!
Love, love, love! Where can I find a cart like yours Mel?
Mine is from ClaxCart
Wow, you did really well Mel!! I can see how that would be exhausting but you seemed that you were definitely in your happy place 💕
I loved this video. The way a lot of people knew you and they were all so nice! And you got a massive amount of books for cheap. I'd love to have something like that where I live.
I buy a lot of books often from them so they’re all very familiar with me :)
Good on you Mel,looks like a great haul 😊Can see its really hard work thats for sure😮Hope you do really well you deserve it 🥰Great video❤
Thanks so much 😊
I think you did a fantastic job and congratulations on the rare find
Thank you!
Very organized book faire
If I saw that line? I’m home.
It moved quickly :)
Same!
There was a lot of empty space between people. Probably the line could be half the length if everyone just took 2 steps forward.
I love book fairs. I was supposed to go to one this past weekend but my husband was in the hospital.
Wishing him well wishes. There is always another bookfair, they’re everywhere :) We are heading to another one this weekend.
Love it when you go to the book fairs!!🎉
Thank you!
I think this was a great video ! Thanks !
Thanks so much!
Thanks for the great video Mel! A go pro that you can wear hands free to make filming and sourcing easier might help. I admire your hustle!
I have tried the go pro at book fairs and I seem to either film the floor or the ceiling ha ha
I love the book fair videos!!!
Thank you!
GREAT JOB!! We have one book sale a year that is great here in Illinois USA. I agree grab the good books because you can always put them back. I loved this video.
Great job!
Just yesterday I reminded my son that it’s winter in Australia. Today I got heat exhaustion after walking a 10k in July. My most severe weather reaction, ever. It really is a big world.
Winter is cold where I live. I wish it was summer again :)
It’s our second day of heat advisories and it feels great to see Mel’s breath in the cold air. You know, if they can send a man to the moon, why can’t they make it 80* year round? Hahaha
I wish there was a door we could walk through and switch places for an hour. Mel could warm up her bones and I could cool my brain down.
The whole place is so beautiful and clean! Outside and inside do clean!
Mel what a work out both physically and mentally.
Yes multi tasking at the best lol. Including filming on top lol
Aloha! I love when you make the book fair videos!
Thank you!
Interesting! You did an awesome job and found some great books🎉
Thanks so much! 😊 It's hard to film the bookfairs and source at the same time.
Keep going😊
I really enjoy these types of videos. Strap on your GoPro or set up a camera and shop, pick & pack, photograph books, whatever it is. Very fun book fair. Great haul.
Loved the video.
So glad! Thank you!
Cheers, awesome video
Glad you enjoyed it!
So Fun and beautiful just what I love! Treasures 🥰💃🎊🕊️
More of these videos please at the book fairs, loved it
Thank you, I'll try!
It is so odd to see a book sale with out people using scanners. 80% of people I see at book sales are book sellers like myself. You can scan hundreds of books a minute using the scanner if you know what you are doing.
Love your videos Mel, I've started trying to sell books on ebay as a hobby thanks to you. I love the videos were you go to book fairs, and I noticed at 30:12 you have a book that is called "What Bird is That?" and you bought that same book at another book fair like 3 years ago. I thought "I'm learning what good books are just by watching Mel!" Anyway, keep up the great content.
Oh man! I got excited looking at all those books - I would have been stacking up on the travel writing and there was a book called Islands that I would have picked up (for home library haha) Did well, Mel, wish we had Lifeline here in our town!! Can’t wait to get my childrens’ cookbooks that ordered from you for my grandkids ❣️🌺💕😍🌻
Oh wow thank you for ordering something from me! Let me know if there is any problems!
I wonder if the book market in Germany is just completely crushed by wales like Momox and Rebuy or if my luck looking up 50-100 books at each flea market is just not existend. Nice video👍
Thank you! Keep searching!
Well done Mel I have seen some books I look forward to purchasing from you
Thank you!
How fun, everyone loves Mel!
Overwhelming is the word! How would a new book seller even start? Does one focus on one genre at a time?
When I first started I would spend all day there price comping. Now I can get in and out in a few hours but it can be very overwhelming. Just start at the first table and and start walking and looking.
Absolutely don’t slow down! If they fit your metrics then get them! Sort by month you want to list and you have months worth of work done in one day and then your 1-2 day listing each month! Fantastic! Keep going!!!!
Thank you!
Another great video ! We are going to start looking for books. We are currently everything sellers so anything we can add to our list to offer our customers just means more chance at more revenue ! Thanks for sharing your knowledge ! Also I bought me a table top tape dispenser after seeing you with yours. I love mine !! Have a great day and remember ….. you do matter and you do make a difference in peoples lives. Me and my wife love your channel and look forward to hearing your accent 😂 don’t worry we are from Alabama…. We have an accent too 😂 Have a great day !!
You need to make life easier on yourself and get a camera holder to wear around your neck. They work great
Yes looking at different options
Dang long line!
It was busy!
WOW!! You really know your stuff!! Rockstar!!!
Still plenty to learn and I’m always researching
This was really interesting to see! Did you film the other days you went too?
No only the once. It’s hard to film and source at the same time. Once in a weekend is enough lol.
I’m at another book fair tomorrow so will try and film it.
That was fun. Thank you! Thom was a big grumpy pants 😂
He was sick that day so not really in the mood to be fighting crowds of people
Fair enough 😊 @@backfromburnout
Great haul! Would love to be digging with you. Love finding the best stuff.
Pick one shelf unit in the warehouse that you know that has books that have been there a long time and have a sale on them. That way you get rid of old stuff and make room for your new books.
Great video Mel. On the subsequent days are the selections just as good and do they do deals near the end of the fair to clear the remaining books? Sydney book fair next???
The first day is always the best.
By the last day it’s heavily picked and most of the books will be low end or undesirable for reselling. They do a bag sale to try and clear that stuff in the last couple hours of the bookfair.
We go to as many Sydney ones as we can but I also have my daughter every second weekend so I don’t travel on those weekends as she doesn’t want to go to them lol
Well Done Mel 😊
Thank you
I have never seen a line anywhere that long!!
I know it must have been hard for you, but I enjoyed every minute of it. So glad you found some good books!
Thank you so much!
It's a fascinating segment today. I enjoyed watching it. I was surprised you gave the antiquarian section a total pass. There may be little market for antiquarian material in Australia. You did very well today, young lady. :>)
I do look at it but not at the beginning because the books I pick first are by eye and I leave the ones I need to research further to last. I did buy a nice selection of old western books from that section a little later on.
@@backfromburnout - Thank You for the reply! :>)
This is amazing! Not sure we have anything similar in the UK.
I used to donate low value fiction to the local hospital, but since the c19 they won't take any more books sadly.
So, we have set up a book exchange in the office
That’s a great idea and way to keep recycling the books with new owners!
That was fun! What is a roladex? Hahaha. Look at the lens Mel, the lens, we're over here! ;)
A roladex is my memory basically. It's the knowledge and memory that's in my head from research and experience.
Just a suggestion: what if you put an ikea bag (or two if there is room for it) in your trolley and put the books directly in the bag. When you get to your table, you can just lift up the bag on the table. If it gets heavy, you can put two bags on top of each other in your trolley. And it might make the transfer to the car easier too.
I’ve got no doubt!
Dont you wish you could have one of those scanners that the Amazon USA people used to check the prices of each book!
Thom has one. The problem is the information isn’t as accurate as most reseller in AU don’t enter the barcode number in a listing. So if there is no barcode there is no history to get the solds from. I think I’ve become a better reseller as I have to manually learn and how it in
