- And this is actually not the most surprising part of the song, ha. Worship.
Gear : SubZero Rogue VI Baritone | Stock strings (.24 - .84) | Neural DSP Nameless for the guitar patch | Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 | Studio One 5
Tuning : Drop D#1 (and at some point I did pitch up 2 notes by an octave because I did not have any range on that 6 string baritone).
Tone preset & guitar signal chain : bit.ly/3D56APj
- Plugins : Neural DSP Nameless, FabFilter Pro-Q3, JST Sidewidener, Oeksound Soothe2
- Guitar IRs : taken from the ML Sound Lab Mega Djent IR pack.
I do not own the rights to this music | All rights go to Sleep Token and Spinefarm Records / Basick Records.
very good stuff here, this particular section is deceptively simple. in the track, it feels like a lot more riffy thingys are happening, but it actually isn't hard at all. seeing your cover here just proves that for me, very cool good stuff
interesting u had the impression there were more riffy things happening
I think their drummer grooves can make regular riffs sound complicated, I spent like half an hour figuring out the time signature and tempo because of the interesting flow between the rhythm section and the vocals hehe
Sleep Token are the Kings of deceptively simple riffs. I guess they take after Deftones quite a lot in that way.
Bros….. the hard shit is getting the rhythms down. Example look at flatline by periphery. The ending is just one note. But try to play along. You’ll see.
Sounds like if Loathe plays summoning
Thanks dude !
I'm swimming in the sea, as the weather changes, I'm dragged down. Into the abyss beyond comprehension.
Music is a beautiful thing, excellent cover, that tone is nasty.
Honestly thank you so much for the tab, I just covered this and couldn't have done it without you!
My pleasure, dude ! Checked your cover, nice setup with the AxeFX !
@@KEOSOUNDS Thank you !!!!
That close up on your dog was so good hahaha. Love the cover too!
Haha thanks a lot ! 🙏
@@KEOSOUNDS Of course!
My dude got the weird noises and everything down! 👑 You're the one guy on CZcams that makes me regret selling my SubZero Rogue VI lol. Think I might have to fix that soon and snatch one up again
Aww bruv 🥲 I feel bad sometimes for not playing it that much but every once in a while it's good to have it, especially for the low price ! I sense that it may be useful when the new Loathe record pops up 😈
@@KEOSOUNDS Oh you know it! I honestly wasn't playing mine as much as I thought I would after a few months, too, and that's why I sold it. Figured it's better for someone to actually give it the time it deserved. Of course, a couple months after selling it, I got the itch to lay down some baritone riffs with no baritone in sight 😩 I will say that having the Archetype Gojira plugin with the whammy pedal so I can just pitch my other guitars lower does help ease the sting lol. I mean that's how I got my 7 string in that ridiculous E1 + Drop G tuning for that Structures cover and I have no complaints on how it turned out!
@@DJENTISNTNOTAGENRE gojira’s pitch shifter does indeed a great job, I thought you tuned all the way down for real 😮
@@KEOSOUNDS I know, right!? Like I've owned the real deal DigiTech Drop pedal before and with the setup I had at that time, it honestly wasn't anywhere close to sounding as legit at the digital version created for a damn plugin 🤣 Also, using third party IRs designed for lower tunings makes a difference so massive that it can't be stated enough. I recently got the Bogren Digital Downtuned IR pack and the difference in tone when I pitch my guitars anywhere from F#1 or lower is night and day compared to what it was like before I started using them. It's one of those things that totally deserves all the praise you see musicians giving it.
@NorthtonesDeflane305 dude yes ! That bogren IR pack is the shit, it completely fixed my chugs that were basically sounding like wet farts (well they still do, but way less haha). Good to know about the Digitech Whammy, I wasn't sure about getting one or not.
The tone though 🥺
To be honest, my guitar tone is not so great without the backing track playing haha 🤫
@@KEOSOUNDS bro please do a full tutorial of everything you have
@SBR_Edits hey dude, I'll try to do that when I can, lots of people requested this ! Stay tuned my man
@@KEOSOUNDS thanks bro! subscribed
best band and best song this year, calling it
Can't wait for other tracks to be released, bangers so far ! That song especially is some of their best work to date imo
Periphery will take the thrown this year, sorry bro

God that guitar is just so good - I've been debating on pulling the trigger for so long.
Great video, man.
Thanks Bobby ! Honestly for this price it's a good guitar yeah, not perfect of course but still :)
Yeah def worth it! The pickups are fine too, you just need to give it a set up 🙂
Can't wait to get my Rogue VI back from my guitar tech. It's getting a full spa treatment: new ferrules, locking TonePros bridge, TUSQ XL nut, stainless frets and Fishman Tosins.
Woaa you went ham with the mods dude, I wish I could hear the final result !
@@KEOSOUNDS I figured with everyone slapping on BKP pickups on the Rogue VI, I've always wondered how a Fishman Tosin set would sound in it. I've seen some using Fishman Moderns, but the Tosins' clarity is out of this world. Genuinely curious how it'll sound!
@Fredrick Fajardo that's a great idea, especially at super low tunings we need all the clarity we can get hehe
I need a vid showing that off, as a rogue vi owner, i love seeing people mod them
Good job🎸🎸🎸
Thanks so much bro! 🙏
That guitar looks so fucking clean
Very sick 🤘🏾now do October Ends!! the new song is dope
Awesome cover. freaking love that guitar. thinking about to get that bad boy as well. bought the baritone paradigm long time ago and it's also pretty sick.
Thanks a lot dude! This bad boi's pretty sweet for the price yeah 😏
Awesome! Sounds great! Is that like a Fender Jazzmaster, the one with a 30 inch neck? Or am i very far off hahahha
Hey dude, thanks ! You're correct, it's a subzero baritone, with a 30'' scale length and big boi strings :)
@@KEOSOUNDS Awesome man is the guitar good? I have no experience with Sub Zero guitars, i only know of the Fender one and the Harley Benton one
@koolin3613 I had low expectations because of its price but with a decent setup it can sound good
this is beautiful bro good shit
Thanks a ton my dude !
chunky indeed!
Hey what's up dude, your videos are *chef's kiss* ! 🖤
So sick!! Need a video on your setup for that tone!
Hiya dude, thanks! I'm getting more and more questions about my setup so I'm definitely thinking about doing a video to show that 👍
In the meantime you can check out the link in description to get the neural dsp Nameless tone preset I did, and the signal chain screenshots :)
@@KEOSOUNDS I second this! I would love to see this video happen KEO! Thank you for the awesome and inspiring covers!
@Ian Waldrop oh man you have no idea how glad I am to read this! Thanks for the kind words, that video will happen for sure bro! Just need a bit of time to do this right for you guys 🙏
@@KEOSOUNDS My pleasure! Take your time, but I am excited to know that you plan on making the video. That's awesome! Thank you for your response, and I look forward to it!
@@KEOSOUNDS Hello again KEO! While I have you, what specific strings do you use for your Baritone? I need to re-string mine and I figure that a recommendation would be nice! I see you use Stock strings (.24 - .84), but do you have a specific link or recommendation? Thank you in advance :) you rock!
Sounds great!! (the nick cage mug was distracting lol)
Thanks a lot Ana ! I love that mug haha
Chunky!!!
Perfect bro
Thank you so much dude ! 🙏
0:38 stank face the whole way
Hits like a freight train ! 🫠
Loved it bro, awesome cover!
Thanks a lot my dude :)
Love the look of that guitar!! Great job man.
Thanks a lot man, thanks for stopping by :)
Pretty sick! What did you use to get the distortion tone and did you have to tune down or pitch down in the DAW to reach that low F. If you don’t mind sharing that is. 🤘🏼
Hey dude, thanks for stopping by :)
I don't mind at all, as a matter of fact I put a link in the video description to the ndsp Nameless preset as well as screenshots of the signal chain. There may be plug-ins that you don't own, but they can be replaced by similar ones that you may have.
For the guitar itself, I did not use any pitch shift, I set it up in drop D#1 😈
@@KEOSOUNDS ooohh sweet deal, thanks for getting back to me, I’ll take a look at the links. Keep rocking 🤘🏼
bro, good shit
Thanks bro!
This is a threat, I'm gonna need those fucking tabs!
Thanks dude, what you seek is in the link in description :)
Great job, looks so clean!
How do you like this Subzero guitar? I'm always thinking of buying one just for this chonky stuff 😅
Thanks my dude! I like this guitar in general, of course for that price it's not perfect but with a few mods (I'd get a new set of pickups and evertune bridge if I could), it can sound insane 🤩
@@KEOSOUNDS got it, thanks 😎
Holy shit I need your preset and the IR's used, I'll pay omg
When I have time I can export the preset and let you know the specific IRs I used. Pretty sure it's from Bogren downtuned IR pack. Remind me if I forget!
@Bluebeer1 Hey bud, I updated the video description with what you are looking for :) There may be plugins that I used that you don't own but if you have some that do the same thing, that's all good. Let me know how it goes !
Burytonnes
Sounds killer!!! Great job! Your Loathe covers are fantastic too! What amp do you use if you don't mind me asking?
Thank you so much dude 🙏
I mainly use the Neural DSP Nameless Suite, sounds so gnarly right out of the box. And I also use some Bogren IRs, especially the low tuning IR pack. Combination of both is awesome :)
@@KEOSOUNDS Wonderful! I was looking into the Neural DSP Nameless Suite myself. Thank you for the recommendation. Keep up the great content!
Hi mate.
Have you already experimented with thinner strings?
If so, could you please tell me which strings do you use and for which tuning?
Hey buddy, I do want to experiment thinner strings, with this same drop D0 tuning ! The stock ones that I still use are a bit too thick for my taste. I'm still looking for a suitable set ; I'll let you know my thoughts after I test a few !
@@KEOSOUNDS that would be great.
Right now I ordered 13-76 Ernie Ball baritone set and 6th string was not long enough to reach the tuned.
I ordered D’Addario NYXL 080 string separately to try it out.
dog cam!
so your tuned to drop D#? I just got a baritone and really want to learn this lol
Yeah drop D# but one octave below :)
Nice. I cant get rid of the latency :((
Latency ? What are you playing on ?
@@KEOSOUNDS gojira. Mac 2022
hey dudee, that’s cool cover broo🤘🤘🤘🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️, Can you tell me, how to get a low tone on a Drop D# tuning?
Cheers dude! I mainly use the Neural DSP Nameless plugin, double guitar track, then some EQ and a little bit of stereo widening. One of these days I will upload a video to explain.
What's tuning guitar, Brother?
It's in drop D#1 amigo :) one octave lower than a regular drop D#.
Damn that was sexy 🤘🏻💪🏻
No u ! 😍🙏
holy hell what is that guitar? do you recommend it for rlly low tuning?
Hey man, that's a subzero baritone and it is indeed great for low tunings. It's pretty cheap and with a little bit of modding it can sound godly imo
Baritñe
What tuning?
Yo, drop D one octave below the regular drop D !
@@KEOSOUNDS wait drop C#?
@@user-kg5mi6oj8j Nope, basically drop D. What I mean by an octave below is that it is 12 semitones lower than the regular drop D. That's why it's better to do this on a guitar with a long ass neck (it's almost a bass, at that point). Not sure if it's clear enough lol
Wow! I have same guitar, but stock strings and stock pickup with FM3 never sound great at all, what's the trick?
What seems to do the trick for me, honestly, is the Neural DSP Nameless plugin, it just sounds great imo. Then I do a tiny bit of EQ to tame harsh frequencies. For all my covers, guitars are double tracked. And also when playing on a backing track, the original tone definitely makes mine better. So I'd say that's a combination of all that, hope it helps!
Hey man i just ordered a subzero rogue vi to play loathe songs😈, I was wondering if you did any mods to the instrument or if you had any tips that I should know of to make the most of the instrument
Hey buddy, welcome to the subzero gang :) I did not do any mods to mine, but whenever I can I will upgrade its pickups! And I guess an Evertune bridge for bridge stability, but that's a strong level of commitment to a guitar in this price range, it's up to you. Hope it helped!
@KEO SOUNDS alright thanks man😄, also if you don't mind what strings do you use on the baritone?
@@ElMeesto I'm still using the stock strings for now but I've got my eyes on a 013-072 set, not sure what brand though
I'm about to get one of those guitars. Please tell me the general construction is bad and the guitar will not stay in tune....
Haha good one mate :) it actually stays in tune fine on my end, but for that price, I guess you can expect a few defects in quality control but nothing too serious. Keyan Houshmand explained it pretty well in one of his videos. Good luck hehe :)
@@KEOSOUNDS my wife is going to be pissed and it's all your fault! Haha really nice playing and tone by the way! Wish you all the best in life you absolute legend
@nurfahrer haha well, play a tune to her and she will change her mind hopefully 😄
Thank you so much for the kind words, take care brother !
Wait, can someone explain how he got that tuning from his subzero? Detuner plugin?
Hey dude, I did not use any plug-in, went straight for that low tuning 'organically'. Pretty easy with that subzero 👌
@@KEOSOUNDS Holy shit, props dude. Didn't realize 24 gauge on a 30" scale could sound like a legit 8 string
@SerDubz thanks man! To be honest I think the guitar tone from the original track in the background helps a lot hehe
Yo what's the tuning on a 6 string baritone?
Yo dude, I play it with the usual drop D but one octave lower 😈 You can check the tab for this part in the link in description
@@KEOSOUNDS oh alr sweet I just got a gretch baritone and want to cover some sleep token with it 🤘
