When i was a kid i had a book, a fairy tale about this giant. And now when i am older i saw this clip and it was a very bright flashback from my childhood. Very interesting, brings back a lot of memories!

I'm from The US and i first fell in love with estonian culture through seeing the animation used in this video (that being the tale of Suur Toll) and let's jsut say, metsatoll knows how to rock!
It`s about Northern Crusades. Estonian tribes were among few in this region who did`nt accept Vatican theory about Jesus Christ the Savior. So The Pope declared it as Land Of Mary and all resisting "pagans" there were meant to be destroyed.

Vaid vaprust means "only bravery". God knows what the rest of the song means. No matter. It's FRIKKING AWESOME. One of the best songs I've ever heard.
It's about suur Tõll, an estonian Giant who protected the native estonians from Germans, danes, swedes, russians and lithuanians. One day his head was cut down in battle. He took his head, brought it to a coast on saaremaa and made himself a grave. He told the natives that they must only scream for help and he'll stand up again. Than after a few hundred years when the story of suur tõll turned into a Legend, some Kids wanted to wake him Up. He was so furious that he went to sleep and said that he would never get up again.

Saw these three with Stonehaven and Tyr. Greatest concert ever. Only heard music from Tyr and Korpiklaani before but became an immediate fan of Metastoll. Their music mixes great and they have an amazing stage presence.

Такие мультики надо смотреть в кинотеатре. На экране монитора не так страшно.

I discovered this band some days ago when I saw them live. They were opening for Finntroll, but they completely stole the show. Metsatöll are the best sounding live band I have ever seen, the others don't even come close. I can't explain how their music makes me feel, love them so much

I´m from Finland, Finnish through and through, and of other countries I´ve always felt closest to Estonia! Never sweden, much less Russia (or Soviet Union). swedish were yet another occupying force. Besides Finnish and Estonian are the closest language relatives, we have nothing in common with swedish, apart from some loan phrases.
But you're mistaken brother. Sweden wasn't an occopying force in Finland: Finland was the other half of the kingdom, same rights, same laws, same taxes. Most probably how Finland became part of Sweden was an alliance against the Novgorodians and Karelians. It's unfortunate that the fairytale of crusades is still official history.
And actually, Russian Czar gave Finland a lot of priviledges and freedoms, and we wouldn't be an independent nation most likely now, if there hadn't been that perid as Czar's Grand Duchy. Sure there's a long history of wars, but it would be stupid to carry grudge today.

Yeah, it is. I grew up watching that cartoon from time to time, when they aired it in TV. The original score and music makes it even more creepier. But at the end I was always so sad about him and what he represented.
The mythology goes further than this cartoon shows. Legend says, that Big Tyll shouted out after he got beheaded "Wake me up when enemy is on our shores once again, and I will come to aid".

in my country (estonia) there is such a legend that a long time ago there was a hero named BIG TÖLL and he was living on the island (where I live), he helped people here in war and in peace. then there was the VANAPAGAN (the red dude) who bullied people and tried to pulle töll back. and then there was also Piret who was Tölls wife. so in the video the TÖLL builds a stone house and people call Töll to war, Piret stays at home, will be continud
