I think this is a great device for the price! I'm almost tempted to buy one even though I don't really need it 😆 I have the same 2015 MBP as you, I even upgraded the SSD following the guide you uploaded a while ago. In these old MacBooks, recording at Maximum quality is a bit of a disadvantage because the computer can't handle the recording very well. I noticed the 720p recording looked a lot smoother.
Hi, I see you have the hdmi dummy adapter plugged in your macbook pro. Is it needed in order for the capture device to work? Can you record hdcp content with this capture card?
Very observant! That allows me to set my Macbook's screen to 720p. I made a video on it (czcams.com/video/GIlomJ4jSFk/video.html). The Mac doesn't let you choose 720p for the retina display so the emulator makes it seem like a 720p monitor is connected (and I am in screen mirror mode). I haven't tried this with HDCP but I wouldn't be surprised if it worked.
@@Rickmakes Thanks for the quick reply. If this works with netflix, apple itunes, etc. I would buy a couple of these. That hdmi dummy plug is a neat trick for getting more resolutions.

It might work. If you have a webcam, try it with your mobile device. Look for apps that can record webcams. If that works, this might work in place of the webcam.

I'm not sure exactly what you are meaning. Can you explain what you are wanting to do further?

I would try connecting a webcam to your phone. If that works, I'm guessing this would.
Could this work with a iPad Pro ?
Unfortunately the iPhone and iPad don't support the UVC webcam standard that this uses. If ever in the future Apple adds external webcam support, this product could work but for now it does not.
