My dad was a park ranger at Mammoth Cave in the early 60's. He told me about an incident that happened one day. According to my dad...the body of Floyd Collins was encased in a glass coffin at the bottom of the cave, at that time. On one tour he was at the rear of the line, as they were ascending from viewing his coffin and he stopped to tie his shoe, while the others went on up. He was alone and as he started back up the stairs he said he heard a voice say "Hey...wait for me...!" Dad said the hairs on the back of his neck stood up and he quickly caught up with the group.
I would of shit myself
@@krystaedwards3160gross. & everyone would always try and keep u alone and run up ahead from you
That's soooo creepy!!!
Sounds like the spirit of Floyd was trying to help out.
Sweet Melissa. Hahaha
So happy that married guy is posting again! God bless you Mr. Stockton! You and your misses are in my prayers, sir! As a female US Army vet with PTSD, your voice has carried me thru some odd nights...thx and be happy.
I've missed his voice also. ❤🙏🇦🇺
Thank You for all the sacrifice You gave so My family and I could rest well. 🇺🇲 Thank You.
I know we aren’t supposed to feed the trolls, but I’m pretty sure no one has ever claimed PTSD from a paper cut. The Canadian Armed Forced is in the process of paying out a 900 million dollar lawsuit to survivors of abuse. Seems like a lot of bandaids.
@@evilplatypus665 Seems you know very little about PTSD. Week??😂
Missed you so much
I live in northern middle Tennessee, I remember going to Mammoth Cave on a school trip, it was wonderful. If you have never been I highly recommend making a visit, follow I-65 north past Bowling Green, take the Cave City exit. There are not many hotels or restaurants near the park, which is a shame, it’s a beautiful area but I wish Kentucky would invest in this small town, it would be a boom for tourism. It could be the Gatlinburg of Kentucky, centrally located for so many surrounding states. I think it could be the perfect spot for family vacations.
I'd be scared to sleep in a high-rise hotel, knowing that the ground beneath was hollow😅
There are nice small cabins to rent near by
I grew up 30 miles east of Cincinnati and visited Mammoth Cave as a kid. The only thing I remember is when the guide had us all stand still and he turned off all lights and showed us complete darkness. It was very cool, albeit a little scary. This documentary gave me SO MUCH more information! Thank you!!!
They still do that on the tours! Total darkness! Very cool place!
I am 67 years old now, but as a young boy, my parents took my brother and I to Mammoth Cave. This was about 1960. I saw the mummified native American Indian, and had terrible nightmares that night. It was intense for a little boy. I suppose I should go back and check it out again.
I wouldn't. Like you, I used to have nightmares too, as a little boy, when I was growing up in Saigon, Vietnam. I would have the same repeating dream, where I would go upstairs. It was like a loft. Anyway, the dreams were always the same, with me going upstairs. I would root around upstairs, then get chased by a ghost, so I would run for the stairs, & that's where I would fall............. & that's when I would wake up covered in sweat. The nightmares stop when I left that house in 1979.
It’s no longer there. A ranger buried it to a secret location. When he retires he passes on the location to the next ranger and so on
I love mammoth cave. I went on a guided tour into the other bowls. We had to crawl through the tunnels to get to them. My husband wasn’t able to because there is a strict size and weight limit due to the narrow tunnels.
Lol
His fattas didn't fit💀
I'm surprised you didn't talk about the theory that the cave is an entrance to the hollow earth
I've toured Mammoth Cave and got to see a tiny bat and a gnarly looking cave spider, lol. It was amazing. ✨
I grew up on a rural farm less then 15 miles from Mammoth Cave National Park. The Park, the Cave and the surrounding area is truly a beautiful and unique place.
Am I actually going to catch it live?
Me, my son, his wife and three children went on tour. Summer time . I took long sleeve shirt. The others said they didn't need anything to keep warm. Lol I took in a couple of bath towels just in case. Well don't you know kids wanted my long sleeve shirt and the towels to keep warm. Grannys know !!!
The man. The myth. The legend.
I had a pair of blind cave fish in my aquarium back in the early eighties. They were cool!!!
Thank you so much for your respect toward the enslaved people whose labor was used without their consent in the many permutations of this cave’s use.
I loved this. I live just a few miles from the cave, and still go down there quite often. it's almost like home. As you enter the visitors center area there is a train car surrounded by a small wrought iron fence. When I was tiny my mother wanted a picture of me with it and I was crying in the picture because I was terrified it was going to move. Its hard to believe that has been 40+ years ago.
We're glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for sharing the great memory!
Absolutely fascinating! I live in KY and have been to Mammoth Cave! It is a sight to behold for sure. This video was much more insightful than the actual cave tour though😂
Glad you enjoyed it!
Same here!
I love in Louisville Kentucky and I'm born and raised in New Albany. I knew 1 person who's gone missing there back in the 90s that doesn't even get coverage and I don't know why. I love it there though and not all of it has been mapped out
Do you remember the person who went missing in the early 90s? People thought they were maybe dumped there and all that? I'm from new Albany and live in Louisville and I can't understand why this hasn't been covered
Loved this one so much I grew up in Livingston TN so as a kid made several school trips to the cave and as an adult my ex wife's family reunion was held there every year this brought back so many memories thanks Steve
I live in the lower hilham area in Clay county. Its great to see a comment from a local.I also went to high school at Livingston academy in 1980.If you like mysteries you would be amazed at how many Bigfoot are in the area we live in.I own a farm and see them all the time on my cameras and have taken hundreds of photos over the last 27 yrs I have lived here.😊😊😊
@@markpaul-ym5wg that's so cool my family lived in hilham until my grandparents moved to town and I believe that you've seen Bigfoot out in that area would love to see the pictures
Wow. Someone is probably related to my family. Seems like everyone is.
I love that park spent a whole lot of time there
Enjoy your vids ...
I love Mammoth Cave! My husband and I went several years ago and did the 4hr cave tour. Took our 2 nephews a year or 2 later and did it again. Didn't experience and paranormal activities but it was an informative cave tour.
That's one of the few national parks that I haven't visited, but I do plan to someday.
I have visited the park several times. Each time, I leave with a sense of wonderment that never dulls with every visit. My family and I have visited Mammoth Cave three times and took a different tour each time we visited. I would 10/10 recommend everyone to visit the cave if you ever have the opportunity!
❤❤❤
thank you. prayers and blessings from nashville tennessee. visited the cave in kentucky in 1987 before going too germany. chaplain marsha jill mann..
Hello All!
My dad used take me & my brother & sister, to Mammoth Cave. We went 3 times in all. It was in the late 70's. Every time was such unique experience. It DOES fill you with wonder and amazement. I remember going in the middle of summer, and wearing a sweater in the cave, because it was so cool. It felt wonderful! All of these pictures bring back so many good memories. I am going to take my daughter and her husband to the cave, to show them how amazingly huge and beautiful it is. Thank you for the video, I loved all of the information! I didn't know about the paranormal aspect of it, but it doesn't surprise me at all! Great video!
Respect the beings that have been here before us and will remain after each of us have done each other in. We belong to Mother Earth, mother earth does not belong to us...
Thanks for the great video. Dont forget Cumberland Gap National Park about 50% in Ky rest in Va and Tn.
Yay my state
I loved being in there each time I have gone. Really want to go again soon.
You have a great story telling voice!
Great research, great narration.!!!! Loved the pictures as well. Thanks Steve & Nicole… jam up job 😊✌🏽🤠
I live a few miles from the National Park. I enjoy hiking and mountain biking there in the fall. I’ve been on most of the cave tours and honestly, I never get tired of going! Nice video!
Great to see you back Steve. Hope married life is treating you both well? God bless the two of you!!! Thanks for sharing Steve. Oh Mush says hello 🐕 😉 🇬🇧 Bows
Lee!
So happy you are your old self 😂 great for your love but please give us more stories like this one 👍🏻😂👌🏻
🤗 Hello!!
Another great video
Glad you enjoyed it!
I went when I was nine. Too many decades later i still think of it multiple times a year.
When I went there was a wax statue of Lassie on a big rock.
Steve I finally found you again.. I was so disappointed when you didn't appear on Missing persons mysteries anymore.. I thought you had stopped with CZcams but luckily that's not the case.. You're a real storyteller and your voice is just pleasant to listen to
Greetings from 🇦🇹
Awesome upload! I missed the old tunes though, it used to be very relaxing.
Great video Mr & Mrs Stockton. ❤
Thanks so much!
💕💕💕
What a treat ! Thank you Nicole and Steve ❤
Amazing informative and interesting. Thank you so much for sharing this. I have been through several of the cave tours. And have camped for a few days on two different occasions. Both camping trips were in mammoth cave back country.
Great episode! I loved hearing all the history of the tourism industry around the cave.
Hello all, if you're gonna give credit for the discovery of the cave then I vote for the bear!!
Thank you Mr. Steve for the historical background on this Cave, had never heard of it. It's got a lot of history and it sounds like a fascinating place to go, thank you to the writer for providing the information, knowledge and history, good stuff!
We're glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
Such a beautifully done piece of history ❤ Thank you Steve❤
Thank you for this great video on Mammoth Cave. I have been there on a tour as a teenager & later as a mother with my husband and our sons. Seemed like the two times I've been there I was on the same tour each time, so this video gave me some of the sights from other tours. The ghost stories are great! Didn't know it was haunted. Will be sharing this with other family members.
Thank you so much!
I ❤ This One & Thanks Steve😊
Well done. I loved the history of the Caves and the little bit of ghost lore in there brings it to the next level
😲 wow! I just saw this notification from yesterday! (Thanks alot CZcams) and this was my requested video 🤍 Thanks Steve! That account got the 🪓 because I was posting too many anti-propaganda vids 😅
What a wonderful sight & history 💫. 👵🏻👩🌾❣️
Thank you, Steve, for the stories ❤❤
I can not sleep without finding one of your videos.
We live down the road from Mammoth Cave and have been there many times. Beautiful place!
I agree!
Oh man, Steve, this was fantastic, I really didn't know much about Mammoth Cave until this video, but thanks to your extensive research and fantastic narration, I feel like, if not an expert at least pretty knowledgeable. Thanks for posting, your channel never disappoints. Always a fan, - Biker
Most enjoyable, well written Nicole! and a grand job as always narrating Steve. Good job all round. Thanks The Stocktons ✌️💜

Thanks, you too!
I used to listen to your videos a while back. Stopped a while and couldn’t find you again. I literally just remembered your name and found you. I’m so glad I did.
Welcome Home!
Steve and Nicole.....such a great episode!!! I LOVE learning about the history of places, etc! I am such a geek for that stuff! lol Wonderful writing and narration! I have always had a fascination with caves. This one is a place I need to visit. And by the way...love that you put the Know Before You Go portion. I am so happy that I found your channel. I have listened to you for quite some time, Steve (just wasn't in the chats at the time....was part of the replay crowd)....it has helped me greatly with my long bouts of insomnia (I know you have heard this before but your voice is relaxing and has helped me get much needed rest). And now that Nicole is writing the episodes.....just brilliant! Thank you so much!!! Peace and blessings to both of you!!! 💕✌ PS: love the music!!!
Yet another awesome video! I love this guy
loved it!
Thank you!
Wonderful as always Steve ❤
Thanks for listening!
I live in Kentucky all my life love our cave country, I love Mammoth but Carter my favorite one .. less people a lot of unexplored caves you can get permits to do.. I go there about ones a week in Summer and few times in Winter.. the trails are beautiful …
My dad used to love to vacation here every year as a firefighter. Looks to me like an excellent place for off-world races to hide or an underground city.
We visited in 2007 and we would love to visit again
It's an amazing place!
Great stories!! Thank u Nicole & Steve!!!
Our pleasure!
Awesome place here in this great state!
Great video. This would be a great vacation spot close by! Thank you for your informative videos.
Absolutely love your videos Steve. Your voice is just so relaxing
I learned about stalagmites there😁👍🏼💙
What a great job on this video. Thanks
Our pleasure!
13:43 Years have this exact Mammoth Cave map framed on my wall downstairs 👍😎
This place would be amazing to go visit and it's a state right next to mine, so I'm definitely going. Thank you for sharing this information. I'd love to see the bats! 🦇
The only cave on my bucket list!!
It's worth a visit!
@@TalesUntoldYT oh I bet have you been??
Steve I found you. I'm so happy. You disappeared for so long. I didn't know where to find you. I'm so happy to listen to your calming voice again. What happened to the other channel, MPM?
I was there in 2014. Did the two major tours. Never noticed any paranormal phenomena or anything unusual, but it was pretty crowded. A little too crowded in fact
My sister, who has seen 2 different ghosts at 2 different houses, one in CA, one in OR. She said ghost will let you know of their presence, if they wish. It can be daytime, nighttime, out of the corner of your eye, or right in front of you. The ghost in OR had an odor. Her property used to be some butcher place, where someone died in the early 1900's. I, myself, had never seen any ghost at her 2 houses, nor experience anything.
@@DecrepitBidenI went to Mammoth cave as a kid & for sure saw a full-blown Native man walk along the trail behind us. I thought he was “in character” for a moment. I pointed him out to my brother, he was like “nah what you talking about?” He said it was just the guide (who was last but walking in front of the ghost man). We kept walking & made it to one of the rooms that nearly glows in the dark. I turned around & saw the man again, this time grabbing my sisters hand & I said “do you SEE HIM?” And she just went “woah, hello…” 👋 & we both waved. He disappeared after that, right before our eyes. We continued on, it felt peaceful so we weren’t too bothered by it. When we came out we told our Mother, she said “oh yes I thought I saw you waving to him. Isn’t that funny?” We were like WHY are you being so casual? 😂It was because our parents knew it was going to be haunted, & my family is partially blessed/cursed with sensitivity.
I adore the artifacts that are found. What a story they could tell!
Think I'll buy that book, this was very interesting. Caves fascinate me. TYSM!
Loved this. I enjoy visiting mammoth cave regularly. I love hiking there. Its near me.
I have spent 3 weeks in the cave deep exploring with the University of Western Kentucky and Cave Research Foundation. On occasion I have been deep in the cave while the rest of my group went off in a passage. I never experienced anything unusual but instead it was completely dark silent and peaceful. A good book to read on how the length of the cave was doubled is The Longest Cave. And typical of the government their tours only use 5 miles of the 450 miles of the cave
Entrance to inner Earth.
Darha!!
I first heard of this cave in the song "the ghost of Floyd Collins - Black Stone Cherry". I initially thought it was just a song, didn't realise that it was about real events.
I have my own personal stories of Mammoth Cave. Nothing unnatural. On a visit there with my mother, she was not physically able to continue our tour and I had to get a couple park rangers to carry her out laying on a stretcher. Then I was pulled over for speeding on the next trip. Which I deny I was speeding. I had just purchased a Dodge Charger and police officers targeted that type of car because it looked fast. Then my wife became a citizen of the United States in a ceremony that took place inside the cave itself. So I have a lot of memories of being there!😂
I love the 1941 edit.
Very interesting, thank you.
It would be awesome to go there. But not likely for me as I live in PNW. Have been to Carlsbad Caverns and Oregon Caves which are also awesome Thanks for this review Mr. Stockton.
