    LeFlop isnt in Bird's league. By the way when James Worthy left Larry Bird, he didnt make a mistake. Larry told him, if you stay on me I'm going to drive into the lane and do a floater. Worthy is thinking, if Bird gets the ball in his hands, hes going to make a clutch shot either way. Why not try to get over the top of the screen and try and cut the ball off? Its a lose lose situation.

    Too open a shot? Did you see what he did? Riley explained it. He forced the denial all the way away from the basket, then suddenly broke off and headed back to the sideline. That move only works because Bird could hit from anywhere, and he made that move at peak speed. If you don't deny the inbound pass at the top of the key. He will get it and make it there. If you do, only Bird knows when he is going to change direction, and that 1 second of freedom is all he needs.

  • @ToddandRaquiForrest
    @ToddandRaquiForrest Před 27 dny +2

    James felt the only way to stop Bird was to stop the ball from getting to him, because guarded are not he could always get his shot off.

  • @soramirez5473
    @soramirez5473 Před 28 dny +5

    well on any given night, Bird would be the better bet to put up better numbers.. He had a better prime as well. Lebron has longevity, scores more and averages more assists..
    Bird has better rebounding, steals and block averages AND he shoots better from 3 and ft and played hard EVERY GAME AND POSSESSION...
    Lebron won 4 rings in 20 years...
    Bird won 3 rings in 12...
    Larry Bird has the 2nd highest winning % after Magic.
    this really isnt a debate if we compare stats actually. ANYONE that picks lebron is doing so from their HEART.. lol..

  • @soramirez5473
    @soramirez5473 Před 28 dny +5

    actually Lebron and Bird got comparable stats. I guess I just value hustle, grit, and toughness over athletic ability

    • @marykuettner752
      @marykuettner752 Před 27 dny

      The reason their stats are so comparable is because Larry shared the ball. He had four other teammates that could give you twenty every night too. It wasn't Snow White and the dwarves. The difference was at the end of the game. In any tough situation Bird was getting the ball and he would put the game away. All of Bird's teammates speak highly of him for that reason.

      @@marykuettner752 yea, lots of players dont do well on super teams, cuz they need the rock. Bird can play with scrubs or all stars..

    It’s not close Larry was the ultimate team player has the 2nd highest win percentage of all time he is the 50 40 90 king and bird beat the dr j , kemp , and Wilkins , James worthy’s and Lebron isn’t better than any of those players

  • @aramhamparian9641
    @aramhamparian9641 Před 27 dny +3

    Starting a franchise with lebron is something I would never do. He has no loyalty and will leave that team as soon as he can. Bird stuck with Boston his entire career and made all his teammates better players.
    And whatever opinion Jemelle Hill has about sports, or anything..... Just think the opposite of what she says and you'll be correct.
    Besides duking, flopping, whine and bitching, and getting coaches fired.... what does LeBALCO do better than Bird?

  • @marykuettner752
    @marykuettner752 Před 27 dny +2

    I take Bird over Bron because of Bird's BB IQ. Bird found a way to win even with the bad back. He never gave up. Bron gives up when he is hurt.

  • @ElizabethAldrich-bb1ot

    Bird founded the 50-40-90 Club and achieved it twice. Bron’s BEST year at the FT line is still 6 points WORSE than Larry’s WORST year at the line. Bird had three consecutive MVPs, three consecutive 3-point contests wins(the only ones he played in), 3 rings, and Rookie of the Year (63-3 points over Magic whose Lakers won the championship in 1980). He alone in his rookie year took a 29-win team to 61 wins, the greatest turnaround EVER in the NBA. LeBron plays a game basketball inventor Naismith wouldn’t recognize! Bird never sat out a game for no good reason, never flopped, never threw tantrums, never quit on his ONE team his whole career.

    I am from Detroit and hate Larry Bird but he was better. Dude took every big shot available and made quite a few. He was better than Dominique Wilkins and Sean Kemp who both had world class athleticism, dude was just different.

    @22:48 Heres the problem with your reason as to why you'd take Lebron....You'd take Lebron bc you want a guy who will play for 20 years and still put up numbers. But the flaw in your reason should be very obvious. You wouldn't have Lebron for 20 years. If you got lucky, maybe you'd have him for 7 years before he leaves your franchise to create a super team. Lebron is quick to leave his team without any concern. There are many instances of him quitting on his team during games and at the end of seasons. I'd be shocked if anyone could find a single instance of Bird giving up on a play because a teammate made a bad decision. Whereas Lebron will pout and not even attempt to get back on defense which results in his teammates trying to defend 5 on 4. Theres also the problem of Lebron refusing to attempt blocking a dunk because he doesn't want to get dunked on which is really a sign of his fragile ego. He absolutely could've been one the best defenders in the history of the NBA but he doesn't have that killer competitiveness within himself like other guys like MJ, Bird, Kobe, KG, ect.
    As great as Lebron is, he's just not on the level of those guys I named. He's a frontrunner! And when things are going good, LBJ looks like a world beater! But if his team isn't rolling, Lebron doesn't have the greatness within himself to go to the next level in order to take control of a game or series. Which is what Kobe, MJ & Bird knew they had to do.....and they did it.
    Lebron obviously wants to be viewed as the best ever but he's not. And the reason he's not it because he refused to be that guy. He's physically a freak of nature and has all the talent to dominate every aspect of the league. The only problem is he isn't mentally tough enough to do what it takes to be known as the best ever.

    Larry had a chance for a quadruple double but said he did enough damage. ONE STEAL AWAY!!!!!!!!!!! Then sat out the whole four quarter. Would LaChina James do that??????? This league is I will get mine and forget about the team. LaChina James is all about stat and glory!!!!!!!!!!!!! Larry is about the team!!!!!!!!!!

    There is no if. Larry Joe would dominate in todays two hand touch buggy feel league. I don’t hate Lebron. But he had to leave Cleveland, gather a super team, and them he could win. Bird was the only addition as a rookie and turned a 29 win team to an Easter conference finals….next yr, championship. Enough said

  • @BernieCorkum
    @BernieCorkum Před 26 dny

    Yes LeBron couldve shut him down 1 on 1 but Larry is the type who wouldve found ways to get his teamates set up for buckets LeBron 1 on 1 ya but he wouldve never beat larrys team

    What Lebron is doing at his age has never been seen before nor will ever be seen again. 9 Finals so far? That’s crazy even if he’s lost more than he’s won. Knowing now how injuries sidelined Larry, yeah you would go with the long term consistency of Lebron. But for the sake of the argument of who you would pick not knowing what would happen 10+ years into their careers, I think the Larry argument is solid.

    noone on the Celtics could guard KD? ok cool.. who guarding Larry Bird, Kevin Mchale and Robert Parish? Steve Adams and 6'8 Draymond Green? oh yea with Bill Walton coming off the bench?. and on the perimeter, Dennis Johnson has more all defensive team selections after Kobe for a guard.. I get the Warriors are great, but yet again, you young kids UNDERESTIMATE the past eras.. The Celtics PASSED and ran the BREAK.. its NOT ABOUT ONE ON ONE MATCH UPS.. wow.

    As great as LeBron is prime Larry was better

  • @WDKWCDT
    @WDKWCDT Před 28 dny +1

    Bron is career 27/7/7. Larry was 24/10/6. So it kind of evens out with the big three traditional stats. About the same steals/blocks average. Both have top 5 all time court vision and passing skill. LeBron is a better ball handler, Bird a superior shooter. Can’t go wrong with either. But I would take Larry because he can make free throws with ease at the end of the game and is more reliable in the clutch. Really just depends on what matters more to you, these debates are always subjective and the beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

    LEBRON IS NOT THE GOAT:
    1st missed feild goals
    1st missed three point feild goals
    1st in turnovers
    7th worst plus and minus
    4-6 in the finals
    Swept 2x in the finals
    Missed the playoffs 3x
    1st most feild goals in finals
    Went 19-109 in clutch feild goals.

    Lebron 1x scoring title to MJ 10X scoring title
    Ohh he walks off in the near end of games
    Crybaby to refs fouls s
    Swept 4x in playoffs
    Lebron went through 10 coaches [ most coaches in NBA HISTORY] which means he is uncoachable.

    9x defensive all team
    3x steals leader
    10x scoring champ
    6x champion
