Welcome to the DBS workshop, Having ridden and had a passion for motorcycles & all things with an engine from an early age then after receiving a motorcycle off the missus for my 30th birthday as a project bike during covid-19 lockdown, I become the owner of a 2000 Honda CB600FS Hornet, Which had been stored up partly stripped down for several years.
Then after getting the bike fired up back into life & running again, working my way through the list of things that needed doing to make it roadworthy again i decided it may be a good idea to document the journey.
So here i am, and the plan is to document the build and all the things that need replacing or refurbishing along with some tooltips/tricks & reviews.

This is amazing. Only I'm missing the steel discs unfortunately.
Hi there thanks for your comment. Yes, the steel I had laying around wasn't the right size, so I ended up ordering some of Ebay cut to the size I needed think it cost about £6
Thanks for posting this, will be using this video to change my sparkplugs!
What size nut is it?😊
Agreed. YZ250x, my bike
Brilliant bike, I do love a yammi. Great choice also 👍, being around for over 20 years they have managed to refine the YZ platform with the X model & the wide range gearbox, can't beat a good 2 stroke imo 😀
@@thedbsworkshop1 Yeah the gearing is perfect for me as I don't do much MX riding anymore, mostly trail and some enduro riding, my bike is perfect for it and have had it for 4 years since brand new and still the most reliable bike I have ever had.
Superb video. Just followed your video to change the pads on my ST. Keep up the good work. Now onto your chain tension video for the next job.
😃 glad to hear, thank you for the comment & feed back much appreciated 👍 ride safe
Very helpful video, my bike wouldn’t fire up anymore. I suspected it might be the spark plugs because i drive mostly short distances. Changed them today and the bike fired up instantly
Oh brilliant, glad to hear it & and you're sorted now. Thanks for reaching out 👍 ride safe
Can I do this without the torque wrench
Yes, you could, I worked on bikes for many years in my younger days without one. But being very careful making sure to properly tighten up/secure fasteners properly. Also it's good practice to perform a short test ride then go over & re-check all the fasteners are all still tight & haven't moved. Although I would highly recommend the use of a torque wrench even a low-cost one as I've learnt over the years there is good reason to secure to OEM spec with different strength bolts/clamping forces or in some applications the use of stretch bolts(one time use) etc But of course any work on your own bike is at your own risk.
Great video. Clear, concise and understandable. Thank you.
That's great to hear thank you for reaching out & the feedback much appreciated 👍
Inline 4✅

Thanks mate nice bike.
Thanks heaps for that mate I’ve just bought a 2004 955 sprint st. This is really handy.
hello. What license plate holder does it have installed? and what exhaust pipe? you have a beautiful bike
Hi there, thanks for your comment. I am not sure on the licence plate holder as the bike came with the tail tidy pre-installed when I purchased the bike. But for the exhaust I have installed a delkevic can & link pipe (KIT29KA) delkevic.co.uk/triumph-sprint-st1050-2005-2007-225mm-oval-stainless-exhaust-kit-KIT29KA.html (It is loud!)
What is the great background music??
Hi there, I'm not actually sure for some reason I haven't linked it in the description. But I will try and find the artist & song and get back to you when u can.
Thanks, I love this bike
I'm thinking about getting an st ,helpful video 👍
Glad I could help, thanks for the comment. Let me know what you decide to get.
Hey mate this is great video. Very informative and nicely put together. You now have a new subscriber .Looking forward to your next one .Cheers.
Thank you for the comment and the feedback much appreciated 👍
Thanks for the video! I lost my owner’s manual somewhere in the mess in my garage, so this really saved me.
Glad I could help, thanks for the comment 👍
Great easy to follow and more importantly to the point with all the details. Thankyou sir.
That's good to hear thanks for your comment & the feedback 👍
Excellent informative explanation
Thank you for the comment & feedback
Hello, great video, nice bike. planning to buy one. Which Triumph (fork) front shock absorbers spare parts are suitable for.
i'm sorry i don't understand what you mean?
@@thedbsworkshop1 I apologize for the machine translation. i meant, can i install oil seals, collars from other triumph motorcycles on the front fork or on the sprint st only special suspension parts.
@@NikitaChe76 I would imagine it would be possible, but i cannot say for certain & which models. you would have to cross-reference some part numbers. Here is a good source of information for you, www.worldoftriumph.com/collections/bikes/products/sprint-st-from-vin-208167
@@thedbsworkshop1 many thanks. Today i bought a triumph st 1050 2006. the bike is amazing. i can't find the service manual, can you tell me where i can download it.
@@thedbsworkshop1many thanks last question ) I bought this bike today, triumph sprint st 1050 2006. there is a problem, does not engage the 2nd speed on a parked bike, and does not catch the neutral. on the move, the 2nd is engaged with a crunch. if the bike is turned off, everything turns on smoothly, exactly without assignments and extraneous sounds. where to look, the oil level is normal, the clutch seems to have never been changed, mileage 74000 km. for this bike is not enough, but for the clutch is probably the limit of wear?
Nice. Is that with the db killer in or out?
Hi mate that is with the db killer fitted. It has since the video been removed which was really easy to do with one allen key bolt & pull it out the end if you wish.
@thedbsworkshop1 brilliant, thanks. I'm looking for a bit more than stock but something suitable for living in a housing estate
Great job man 😀
Hi mate an informative video but when taking measurements the bike has to be on the side stand which makes the job a bit harder as the bike is leaning towards you. I've owned a sprint for 3 years and it's how it's listed in the manual.
Hi mate thanks for reaching out, and thank you for the guidance. This is the first time for me working on this style of swingarm setup so your input is greatly appreciated
Yep, this video needs updating showing corrected method of the bike on it's side stand.
What brand of paint did you use, and does it hold up nicely over time??
Hi there, the brand was K2 brake caliper paint. As for longevity I am not too sure as I had a problem with both calipers bubbling badly. But I am not sure if this was due to a problem with the bleed nipples or brake fluid eating the paint during the bleeding process. All looked great until approx 2 weeks later. Then I decided to re-strip & sent off for professional painting. I would highly recommend the company that I have used a couple of times since now, if you would details let me know. Cheers
@@thedbsworkshop1 The bubbling is usually caused by the old paint, due to a difference in chemical composition, it causes a reaction with the new paint, so unless your 100% the chemical composition of your new and old paint are identical, you need to remove all traces of the old paint also you need to make sure your new paint is oil proof. Iv learned that from a professional car painter.
Thanks so much for your videos this really helped me :)
Glad to hear, thanks for reaching out & the support
IMO commentary is better than music
Ah ok thank you for the input, I will work on that then in future videos cheers 👍
I didn't find the music a distraction, I had no problem hearing or reading your instructions. Nice vid
@@peterdonnelly6804 thank you for reaching out & for the feedback much appreciated
Hey man, did you have to change jets or re-tune ?
Hi there, still has standard jets but yes I did have to play around with the mixture screws slightly afterwards to get it running smooth.
