Candyman is not a throwaway slasher, precisely becuz there’s so few kills, much of the story is about the STORY around the candyman and the Cabrini Green neighbourhood. ‘Once thought to be’ might be indicative of how viewers dismissed it back then but its very clearly not made in that way. Its not the Friday, Halloween, Nightmare, Hellraisers, Leprechaun, franchises, nor any of the ripoffs and imitations or just standalone slashers from the 90s. I think its great Candyman 2021 changed the focus onto black characters though unfortunately those characters were written so poorly that it really undercut any of the themes it was trying to explore. The original Candyman is a classic, its sequels are VOD junk from desperate studio execs and not indicative of the original product

Samuel is one of the characters I DO NOT like at all...8 effing seasons and he was always an annoying character, does not matter what he does, he is just UGH.

Latinas in punk have been ignored up to this day. Alice Bag of The Bags is probably one of the most influential I can think of. In Mexico Julieta Venegas of the band Tinjuana No! is also a pioneer. I always tell folks who complain about music that the good stuff won’t come to them. They need to get off their behinds and search for it themselves.

Blumhouse is a shlock factory they screwed up The Exorcist of course they would screw up The Craft. It's the product you should expect from a studio that got it's start making movies for the Syfy Channel.

Juno would have been a good example, but also you need a whole video dedicated to the nuances of that movie. I realize my comments are late, but I just came upon your channel, and I'm loving it, so this rabbit hole goes deep and I'm going to go further I promise.

(The following is from a hetero perspective.) Since it was not mentioned: There is a part of men that -- at least unconsciously -- like seeing hot women in a weakened state. Because their gaze can desire this, it can become desirable for certain women, who, of course, subconsciously at least, want to be desired, to begin playing into this aesthetic (this is totally normal and natural, though doesn't maybe apply to everyone). It is obviously not the only reason why women and girls like to play with this aesthetic, but this is just an aspect to the thing I felt needed to be mentioned. It's a very old program for men and women. Men, it's on you to examine tendencies and behaviors that may want to subconsciously weaken - or make dependent - women in a relationship. (Moreover, this is not a condemnation of single-earning families or relationships -- that's not what I'm talking about.)

I don't know if it came before or after, and I'm not going to check. But Josh Hartnett did kill it in another days and night movie, called 30 days of night, which is a French kiss of a vampire movie. Granite that is my opinion, for whatever reason I absolutely love this movie, but some may say it's the salt Bae of a vampire movie.
