Debt-Free DIY

Registrace 23. 01. 2021
Hi, we're Jeremy and Jess! In 2016 we sold our completely finished home and bought a fixer upper. About a year later, we decided to stop everything and pay off all of our consumer debt before beginning all the renovations on our list. In 15 months we paid off $34,000 dollars in debt and then began putting back for our emergency fund. Now we're punching our remodel in the face and using cash instead of debt. Follow along as we go room by room through our home tackling everything from DIY to design all without borrowing a penny!
Building the cabinet Instagram can't stop talking about
In this video we're building a cabinet that we wish we could say was our own design but is actually a dupe taken from @helloimaubs on Instagram. Be sure and go show her page some love because it's definitely worth a follow! The arches and vertical dividers really set this cabinet off and give it such a cool vibe.

How We Created the Laundry Room Of our Dreams
The government doesn't even realize how much they screwed up with the "improved" design. They'll never admit the mistake either. At least we can still correct the issue and convert them back to normal.
The thing is we know this already. Same thing as buying in bulk
Americas aren't smart enough to use a simple gas can like back in the day.
Even the 4x8 price is ridiculous. I’ve been doing home repairs and renovating for the past two years or so and I’ve just been watching materials gradually get more and more expensive.
I'm not really a fan of these kinds of squares at all. They seem to be full of jack of all trades, master of none compromises. If I want super-accurate layout lines with 1/64" or .5mm precision, I use my Incra 6" T-rule. If I want to check for square only, I use a little machinist's square. If I want versatility I use a combination square.
It's only good for 2 uses. 😂
Ngl, I’ve never had any problems with that “three hand” gas can.
They are not ripping you off. They sell smaller pieces at a higher cost. You don't have to buy.
You can still buy full metal jerry cans....
go figure what happens when the Gov. gets involved where there not needed
Well well well well well good for you buddy
It's just like selling drugs.... the more you break it down... the more money you make. Durrrr
Rip off? Might be a bit overpriced, but you are literally paying for the convenience. Grab a friend with a truck, buy the whole sheet, and cut it yourself. Unless you don't have a saw in which case it's a bargain
Can you do the same into drywall?
Noticed this buying wood for my fence. Bought bigger and just cut it. Always research
Capitalism is a cruel host.
First choice was a jointer? OK, I guess. You can install the screws with a hammer, but that's not the job it was meant for.
Wait until he learns that the large sheet used to be $20
You’re paying for labor cause I bet ya them cutters at the mill are getting paid $30/hr.
coke does it too.
Kinda rippin' you off? No they are ripping you off.
I buy my products at Lowe's, they cut full size pieces for free
Convenience fee
It's been that way for years. Lol
Since I found out that the owner of Home Depot is a trump supporter I no longer shop there and I was exclusive before that
That spouts are $20 by themselves. I actually looked to replace mine with the exact spout he showed here. Absolutely ridiculous!!!!
But the reality is that the small pieces are cut from 4x8 sheets which have been damaged and can't be sold as 4x8 sheets.
This is really helpful. I'm going to install these slides sometime next week, and you really described the process very well. Thank you. Subscribed.
At a first glance at the site that you recommended the slides look to be a lot less in price, but right now (07-24-2024) the 21" Blum slides for 3/4" (18-19mm) stock are the same price from Amazon if you have Prime (free shipping) membership, and it's the complete kit. No fussing around hoping that you're getting the correct parts for the slides. The shipping cost really adds up. Just my opinion, but I think that thin 1/2" (12mm) stock makes the drawer look and feel trailer park cheap :-) Again, thank you for the very informative video for these slides. You are very good at this, and look forward to watching more of your content.
Hows it feel at night 😊
Just started shopping at Harbor Freight recently. I’m impressed. Bought nice reciprocating saw for cheap. Works quite nicely.
Nice Shirt
4’ of 3” abs costs $29 and a 10’ 3” costs $37 same with almost every construction materials but if you have no tools and that size is what you need?!
This is how buying small amounts vs larger amounts works 🤦♂️
Of course it costs more to pay someone to cut it. Lol need the saw, need the employee, insurance etc. they do allow you to buy the entire sheet and have it cut which makes sense if you need it. Obviously if the MDF is just going to sit around for years, then you are better off paying 1/2 for what you need.
It's standard business every where it's not ripping anyone off if u think that way go to Lowe's and see
its not rocket science. Some only want one piece. If someone is willing to buy it at the signed price?
Be careful having them cut it for you. One guy butchered the f*** out of it one time I asked. I should have just abandoned the cart. I went to the service desk & complained & they gave me a discount but I still should have just bailed
Guess the smaller boards cut themselves then stacked themselves on the shelf
Hey get your stuff right California's the one that did that and everybody just followed suit there is no government mandate on gas cans
Lowe's is the same way
Hell yeah nice shirt
Thanks!
Hyper tough tools are slept on
I mean, if you use it for like 20 mins, 5 times per year, who cares if it'll get the job done?
these EPA cans make a bigger mess than any old jerry can i used to own or use. what happens when you open them? the vapors escape anyways, along with a gallon of fuel all over whatever you're trying to fill up. i rip all that crap off and put regular nozzles on all my cans, least you can still buy those.
Weekend warriors shop at Lowes and Depot. Real contractors use real lumber yards, elec and plumbing suppliers
The warrior is a wonderful drill. I've had mine for 11 years. It was $9.99 not $20. I even got an extra battery for $3.99. Tell the truth. REVIEWS DON'T MEAN IM BEING PAID TO SAY THIS IS BETTER. YOU DIDN'T BUY ANYTHING, YOU LIE!!
Bought both of them with my own money. They're both 20 bucks on the shelf. I assure you, Walmart nor Harbor Freight wants to sponsor me! 😂 that's laughable at best.
11 years ago you got it you don’t think the price could’ve gone up since then
First video I've seen, and Im hoping you have a hundred of these reviews. If not please do!
Honestly a nice find for a review video. I will need to buy a cheap drill at some point.
Glad I could help!
It's not about the cuts, it's about the quantity. It's like this for everything, across every industry. You haven't cracked some code, it's common knowledge.
Good video! I like the wife metric of tool quality.
😂 Thanks!
