Nifty little feature of the Hawk-Matic HK-3. "S" is their fast mode. I call it speed mode. While it doesn't speed up the process substantially, it's still a good feature to have to shave off a little time.

    why is the volume barely audible???...i had to turn up my 120 watt soundbar's [connected to my laptop] volume to near max just to be able to make out your commentary and when the youtube ad began to play sans any warning my speaker not only nearly blew up deafening me for a moment, it had to instantly wake all my neighbors up in my 20 apartment complex building at past 11pm... there's no subtitle option under your video so there's no alternative... wtf dude???... also, if you're trying to demonstrate how this machine works it's a fail because you didn't show the 'working' side of it while operating the hk3... i just purchased the hk3 based on several positive online reviews as an alternative to my powermatic 3+ which began to jam/malfunction continuously after only about 1,500 smokes filled, hopefully it'll be a long term improvement...

    The HK-3 is the most perfect design. The original PM series is an old model that has been made for a long time. The HK-3 has perfectly improved many shortcomings on the original style of the PM, so it is the most worth buying. I have nearly 15 years of experience in sales, and what I said is quite authoritative.

    You need to clean out your powermatic 3. It shouldn't take that long to make a cigarette. It's grinding way too long.

    My POWERMATIC 2+ is quieter and I'm able to inject tobacco into 10 filter tubes or half a pack in matter of ~5 minutes. I must say basically the upside of the Hawk-matic HK3 is that It injects tobacco into a filter tube at a very steady and consistent output. With the POWERMATIC 2+, I have to gauge the amount of tobacco I'm placing into the hopper for each and every cigarette. Too little tobacco the cigarette is NOT ideal for smoking.The cigarette will potentially flop. Too much tobacco into a filter tube would result in a hard to drag, a very firm smoking experience. The HK3 produces smokes at a very steady pace. Just place your tobacoo in the hopper, place filter tube on the lip of the machine and hit a button. ANYBODY has the ability to making cigarettes. Kinda of set and forget it. My POWERMATIC 2+ requires a little more labor. You have to use a semi assisted lever when inject tobacco into a filter tube. Nice thing about the POWERMATIC 2+ is the jam protection. Well engineered feature. What happens is if the rod senses too much tobacco or an overload of tobacco in the chamber, the rod will immediately retract. This is done to extend the longevity of the POWERMATIC 2+ machine. It truly whines when its struggling to much tobacco to fill a tube. Kinda funny to see it in action. You'll probably waste a few tubes every so often but you'll notice the saving within the first few weeks of using either machine. Talking about $1.75-2.00 a pack. Taste very close, sometimes better, than some reputable brand name cigarettes. Except They're charging 2-3 times more.

      The hawk-matic HK3+ undergone a change from the very first one to know prior it was identical to the Powermatic 3 now it has a feature so that you don't have to wait for compaction before the cigarette is created, the new one compacts after the previous cigarette is made. I am also of the belief it shows a small superiority over the pm3 now, however it still compacts a bit tighter than necessary on the lower level end the power supply should be 15 volts which is perfect how I use it! P.S. hoping to see their version of PM5 by the way if it means anything they said they were going to call me back on an issue and never did I have been told their customer service in plain English sucks.

    Just Getting into RYO using the PM3 and Good Stuff red. I notice frequent 'hopper' stops unless I either hand tear the tobacco before use, or run a batch thru the machine without tubes (to precondition the tobacco). Is there a good tobacco cutter I could use separately for this? Just to precondition the tobacco for perfect machine operation.

    Which one can pack the tightest cigarette so it burns longer? I think you can adjust density/fill on both. And which one works best for King size tubes? I just got into MYO cigs, and bought the cheap powermatic mini before investing in one of the big boys. I’m very pleased with the mini overall, my only real complaint, other than the time commitment (which is to be expected) is that it’s difficult to really pack a cigarette tight. Before making the change I was an American Spirit smoker, and loved the smoke time & density of their cigs. I feel like the pm mini makes a smoke that’s closer to like a camel or Marlboro type smoke. Thanks for your time.

    Do you grind your tobacco? Our PM3+ was taking forever to make a cigarette until we found out that you should grind the tobacco before using it. This goes for every automatic cigarette injector. It runs like a champ now and is much faster. I just use a cheap food chopper and it works great. The only annoying thing is even with it set to "king", it still has a bunch of tobacco sticking out of the end of the tube when it fills it. That's the only thing that I'm still trying to figure out.

    • @lordj81
      @lordj81 Před 6 měsíci

      What seems to help mine is to lightly press on the filter end while it fills the tube. I don’t know why it works, but it does 👍🏻 Also, using a good ribbon cut like American Club fills better than that crappy shag cut like OHM uses now.

    • @katerycho14
      @katerycho14 Před 6 měsíci

      @@lordj81 we tried American Club and weren't fans of it, but we really like Kentucky Select. The Good Stuff was our favorite brand for a while, but their cut seems to be getting thinner and thinner these days. I've been grinding both brands and mixing them together and it's been working out pretty well. I do hold the filter end when it's injecting and it does help a bit, but we still always have tobacco hanging out the end. I might play around with different tubes to see if any of them will work better without changing the flavor too much.

    So that’s what a mode does. Mine just arrived yesterday and I was using it and reading the manual and seen s mode. I actually like the pause it gave the cigarette a second to fall and taking the tobacco off the end. I rolled 5 cigarettes and it was quick! I own the power Matic 2+ and this new machine cut the time in half and much easier. I used shift 1 and it’s packed the tube I can’t imagine how tighter the other 2 levels are. Great machine. I’ve saved a ton of money rolling my own. I usually buy 2 packs every 3 days at a cost of 22-24 dollars. 16 ounces is only 12-13 dollars. That’s legit 600 cigarettes that’s 3 cartons for 12-13 dollars compared to well over 300!

    I am somewhat interested in replacing my power matic 2 cigarette injector. I think I would like to try one like this, but I have doubts that, due to automation, it may not be able to pack the tobacco to my preferred consistency... I prefer them to be somewhat loose compared to factory, or mass produced cigarettes... What I was looking for that brought me here is advice for storing my tobacco to keep it at a consistent moisture. Sometimes I buy a 1lb bag and it is too fresh or damp. So I'll pull out a handful and let it sit overnight. But living in Florida, there are times when I'll wake up and it's even more moist! 😆 I need consistency.... I'm thinking of a humidor. But I want to see how other people deal with this

    • @daltoncooper53
      @daltoncooper53 Před 8 měsíci

      Hi, thanks for watching! I've heard of people nuking or even toasting their tobacco to dry it out. I would keep it in its original bag for sure, maybe just leave the bag open overnight. Shake It up in the morning, and give it a couple more hours. And this machine can roll it pretty loose. I got good strong drags off the 1 setting which I later learned was the loosest setting. I would definitely recommend it. They were on sale on Amazon not sure if they still are.

    • @daltoncooper53
      @daltoncooper53 Před 8 měsíci

      You could also spread it thin on a tray and set it in the window seal on a sunny day. Once you get it to your desired humidity/moisture, throw it back in the bag. It should stay fine. Unless you have an air tight container, which are widely available, the bag it came in is usually best. I keep my rolled up smokes in locking lid, sealed containers.

      Just put a dry paper towel in the bag or container...... half of a full size sheet. I use Viva. Seems to do the best without falling apart or leaving dust. If the tobacco gets too dry (non florida residents.lol) put a small amount of water on the paper towel.Barely enough to know it's wet. If you can wring out any water, you used way too much. Tobacco will be good as new. My uncle uses a slice of an apple to rehydrate dried out tobacco. I prefer the paper towel method. Doesn't over hydrate or change the taste.
