Tough break on the lettuce and garlic. Other than hunting them by hand or using slug pellets, there's no really effective method for stopping slugs. Garlic generally likes lots of light, I'm no expert but there may be another reason for that crop failing.

We were recommended crushed egg shells and copper wire to deter snails. We kept chickens at the time and had plenty of shells, the copper wire we stripped out of old cables, not sure which one worked as we put both out but we didn't have many problems with slugs and snails.

It's an interesting idea, but it does feel like you might have just made an insect trap. Depending on how sweet the mulch is in there you might need to watch out for wasps when you open it!

funny i was going to create the spoon watering system- saw it on a tiktok and since i cannot find the right size rose for my watering can i want to try it instead. I will be putting in my sweet potato slips in may just as i did last year

Hi mate hope you don't mind me saying but growing 2 different varieties of corn anywhere near eachother will result in cross pollination and ruined crop.

Bucket growing some potatoes is definitely on my to-do list. Yours look like they're coming on great and it's got to be easier when it comes to harvest time. Just tip each one onto a sieve sheet over a barrow and brush through the dirt to save for another use.

I miss Wilko, I always used to get my seeds and seed potatoes from there :/ Now I'm just using my leftovers from last year. I've already started my chilis cause I'm impatient lol

Chillis have to be my favourite thing to grow. I've found them to be surprisingly fussy and not always had good luck getting lots of fruit, but they're just fun! I've never done big numbers like you, most I've ever grown was 4 plants at a time, but that seed dropper looks good for sowing up full trays and something I'll have to look into if I ever get my greenhouse built!

I must say those seeds are the most pampered little babies :) with the rising cost of everything, I have now switched over to using cheap store brand cat litter in place of perlite or vermiculite, it's working well, and my seeds are staying moist for longer, not drying out as quickly, as the cat litter absorbs moisture and releases slowly back into the soil. Using an auger was smart and certainly something satisfying about seeing the plot so neat! I don't have a lot of space to grow so I'll be interested to see how the bucket spuds come up - I've heard it can be very successful.

Yeah I know what you mean about the onions, so the science behind the onion, with the seed they are growing in their first year, so we don't get the bulb, it's only in it's second year we get the bulb to plant which swells into an actual onion. I'm growing onion sets this year because I'm impatient, like most gardeners :)

Are these yams the same as the colocasia plants? The ones I buy online are only small dumpy little tubers and I can never get them to grow, your's looks much bigger than the ones I buy, I've never seen anyone use melted candle wax on them before. Thanks for sharing.

It's not the first time I've heard about the red stones near strawberries, I heard that the strawberry plants often get competitive because they think the red stones are bigger fruit, and get bigger? not sure if that actually works lol, but I will try it this year, thanks for the tip!

Nice video, I like your style of gardening, just a quick note, that foxes don't like chilli and garlic, so if you mix them together (if you grow them, dry them to a powder) and sprinkle them around your garden they should stay away! New subbi here from east London :) BTW, have you tried the cut and come again variety of lettuce? I grow it every year, you basically cut it when you want it and it grows again you can get about 3 harvests from one crop?

Fresh buds on the raspberries! One step closer to Springtime. Something like a French cleat on the sieve to let it catch on the edge of the barrow might help keep it in place when loading. It worked great though.

I think for the majority of us have a similar problem where space is limited, I ended up buying 2 rolls of chicken wire 10 x 1m and tying the ends together with wire, standing them up like drums, I have one for the compost and one for leaf mulch, quick easy, looking tidy and working so far, easy to turn and get to the good stuff. I haven't seen those tumblers at work before, how often do you turn it and how long does it take to start breaking down?

Don’t put your garlic so deep mate, the tips should be no more than 2 inches below the surface, they don’t mind the cold, it’s to wet they don’t like.

That was alot of work for garlic bro. I don't even sieve the top layer😂 Mine ended up with allium leaf miner last year, so trying out netting this year.
