I bought a bulk pack on ebay ! they were selling a various elastic lot and I have been working my way through it !

I used a slightly bigger needle, but nothing that wouldnt come with general sewing machine needles that usually come with a machine. It’s a bit of a hassle but it’s always good to switch to a specific needle for specific fabrics

You could adjust the shape of the cups or you could add a thicker (more covering) lace along the neckline ! Hope that helps

Yes! But probably you'll need to sew a zipper to it

@n0osei is right ! Without the stretch you would need a zipper, button, ties etc unless you change the fit of the top to something baggier. You can also (with some fabrics) get a surprising amount of stretch from cutting on the bias !

Fashion designers need to have an education in textiles, patternmaking, and the business side of fashion design (like putting together product proposals and working with factories). You need to get a post-secondary education for that knowledge (college/university). However, before you do that, get connected with fashion designer community and those who have a social media account. Ask them how their experience has been after graduating, like working for companies or opening their own business, (were they making a livable wage?) and learn why many have left the fashion design industry after a few years. See if you can’t find a local one to shadow for a few days, doing ALL the stuff, not just the fun parts. Get a realistic idea of what the experience is like (even if you can only interview them) so that you’re not carrying an idealistic view of the profession. Speak to as many as you can to get a wide range of perspectives. School is expensive, so try to get connected NOW with that community to find out if this is the path for you. Lastly, while you’re in public school, take all the available subjects so that if you change your mind later, you will have the credits to switch to another field. You don’t want to be taking supplementary courses in college that you could have taken in high school for FREE. My friend didn’t take physics in high school because it wasn’t required and she regretted it in university when she was getting her physiotherapy degree.

I agree with @hotjanuary ! It’s a really good idea to learn about the industry and see what someone already doing the job could teach you ! I went to ESMOD and learned pattern drafting and some of the people in my class were surprised with the amount of math involved. I hope you follow your goal and love it !!!!

This would be the same issue as the tube tops with the elastic and zigzag stitch. It’d be a lot easier with a machine

It would be tricky with the zigzag stitch and pulling the elastic as you sew but I like to think if you’re patient anything is possible with sewing

Thank you ! I buy my elastic in store. It’s always a little tricky to find so I buy it whenever I see some I like. I’ve bought it on eBay before too - you can sometimes find bundles to buy and it’s a little cheaper Hope that helps !

I love my machine ! The heavy duty singer. I find that with this machine you would never really need to upgrade it. It’s great for all materials and has no problems with thick layers. It’s a medium price point. If you are just trying sewing out for the first time you could start with a more budget machine and then upgrade once you decide you love the hobby ! Hope that helps 🥰

Yes you can ! Just be careful with the inner seam. You can alter that one as well but not all the way up to the crotch or it will start to poorly effect the fit. Hope that helps !!! 🥰

Hii !! No it’s not necessary. It’s fun to have and it makes pinning / creating patterns easier but they are quite expensive and you can absolutely make amazing garments without them !

Yes and no ! It depends on the details of the pants (sometimes pockets/ rivets / zippers can get in the way)This technique will allow you to downsize quite a few sizes but if you’re looking for something very drastic I have this video as well: How to resize Jeans - Downsizing Thrift Flip !
