Sorry Bruce, it’s the one I got growing up in the south coast of England! I do accept though that the audio could be better - I produced them for my team at church and never expected that anyone else would be interested in them. 100k+ people clearly thought otherwise!
You are good 😌 I’m just so glad 😀 😊and you
Grntymvhytyvevrntrrffgggggggghhhhhhhhh
Why there is no -20 db pad? Definitely Im struggling with this
If you use the TRS connector then there is a 10dB attenuator compared to the XLR. Also, you can dial in -5dB gain
@@paulwilton Thanks!
Awesome demonstrations Bruce, you made my day!!! Big thumb up from me. ^^ I enjoyed the video and I'll surely come back to see you again... ; )
The best
I went yesterday
did you buy this as a kit or something? i build one because my radio doesn't have a sidetone so it was unusable as-is for me. it also have a very useful capacity to use a keyboard as input.
Francois. I downloaded the PCB Gerbers from GitHub and then sent then to JLC PCB to get made. I then sourced the parts and built it
@@paulwilton ahhh ok ok. thank you for the information
@Francois Dupont, I might have a spare blank PCB left over if you are interested
@@paulwilton thanks for the offer, but i just put the finishing touch on mine and i only needed one. so i am good for now.
Went there today, it was awesome. I'll be sharing my videos on my channel for sure. Love the creative lightning music

Hi paul, mine is working slow .... do you know why ? Thanks pa3dzy
Sorry, not really. Mind has just worked, as have 4 others built by friends. I would suggest posting to the email reflector on groups.io - they are very friendly
@@paulwilton thanks for replay. It's just when you go over 15wpm it doesn't seem to keep up.....
@@supportfairing That's not my experience. I'm not a very fast operator but I can set it to 40wpm and copes fine. Or are you talking about decode speed? I've not implemented the decoder.
@@paulwilton thank you Paul, I will have to investigate it some more.
@@supportfairing I would take a look at some the capacitors around the paddle inputs (eg C1, C2) - check these are 100pF, similarly check L1 L2 re 10uH. If these were too large then it could slow the edges coming into the keyer. Also, C3 and C4 (the decoupling caps on the RX output) are shown on the schematic as 1pF. This is far too low a value - I fitted 1nF and they were fine. Again, if these were a lot larger it slow down the keying to the rig.
HI Paul did you get decode working. M0PKH and I have used 2560 mega and have most bits working but are stumped with decode
What do you mean by decode? If you mean TX decode then it does display the characters sent. However if you mean RX decode then sorry I haven’t tried it

Yes I agree great tutorials I, II & III. I have a question. I have a transmitter and I am a novice. How do I set my QU32 to transmit threw my receiver?
What sort of transmitter?
How did you multitrack record? This is the only video I ever seen with a virtual soundcheck
You can record 18 channels to an attached USB drive using the multitrack record function that is built in. I would recommend getting a proper hard disc or an SSD to do this. These can be played back if you select each source input to be USB. Alternatively you can connect it to a PC/Mac over USB and record 32 channels. These can be replayed the same way - ie by selecting each source input to be USB.
Can I connect 32 inputs and will they show up as separate tracks in my DAW - Able 10 live?
Can't see why not. However, I don't have any experience with Able 10 live. Certainly shows up in Audacity as 32 channels on my Mac.
According to the guy in my local audio store, yes! And hes the distributor and knows his stuff. It blew my mind when he told me it could. How it does that over USB is pretty cool.
Awesome 👍 thank you for sharing.
Uncommon video characteristics. Shallow depth of field, high quality audio (stereo?) Likely not a $100 Android phone. Curious if maybe high-end iPhone or pro gear.
Louis Warner good spot! It was shot with a Nikon D750 full frame DSLR which I got for Christmas. The video was partially produced to see how well it performed since I am mostly a stills photographer.
I want to use delay to mix 1 monitor but not able to do.. please give me some idea
Can I clarify your request please. If I understand you correctly then you want to put a delay on output of Mix1? I need to check when I get onto the church desk on Sunday but IIRC you should be able to do this by, select the processing screen using the button to the left of the display, hitting the blue SEL button on LR, then hit the Mix 1 button on the left so that you are selecting Mix 1processing. There should be a delay entry in the processing section.
Just checked the manual - I have remembered correctly. See page 33 of www.allen-heath.com/media/Qu-Mixer-Reference-Guide-AP9372_10.pdf
GOOD DAY SIR, MAY I KNOW WHERE CAN I DOWNLOAD MULTITRACK BAND RECORDING FOR QU32 TRAINING USED ?
If you just use build in function to record multi-tracks to the USB drive then no software is required- you will get 18 wav files for the 18 channels you have chosen. If you want more than 18 channels then you will need software running on a PC or Mac connected to the USB port on the QU32. There are a large number of different software options to record 33 channels. There is Audacity which is free and Reaper which is low cost.
Can the QU-32 do an automated mix of a multi-track recording. (Changing volume levels and muting channels as the recording is playing). Or can that only be done with a DAW? Thanks.....Great series of video by the way on this mixer.
Yes, it needs to be done via a DAW - unless you want to send your own midi messages ;-) Glad you found the videos helpful - I'm amazed how popular they have been given I just threw them together for my PA team at church
@@paulwilton Thanks for the reply. I am an old school analog guy. I just sold my large format console and looking for a replacement mixer. I have a stand alone 24 track Hard Disc recorder (which has TRS inputs and outputs and also has light-pipe input/outputs). I will probably have to replace it and get a DAW should I buy a digital board.
@@uptownphotographyI should have made it clearer that to make the QU series into a DAW, all you need is a USB cable and suitable DAW software on a Mac or PC. The necessary drivers are available on the A&H website. You can then record fader movements whilst recording and the play the. back again as you add more tracks or you can programme the automation into the PC and the faders will then move accordingly.
@@paulwilton To be clear....you're saying when doing a multi-track mix down, you can program the fader movements on the QU-32 right from the DAW....So the faders will move appropriately when volume levels need to change as the song is played back during mix down. Thanks.
Uptown Photography yes. And you can also move the faders and the DAW software will remember them.

Digital desk no Adat in/outs despite having 3 layers
Worked with this board for the first time tonight. Live at first sight without a proper sound check. What a mess but no feedback so all was good. Didn't know I was to run the board at this new church! Doing the education piece after the fact coz I'm still a wreck after service. 🙌🙏
Hello there. A quick question, how do I recover the admin password on my Qu32? Thanks
Wesley Penteado sorry don’t know. Try emailing A&H Support.
Paul Wilton Thank you anyway. Please allow me one more question. If I save all my sets in a pendrive, then do the factory reset, then upload my saved sets from the pen drive. Will that work? Thanks again
Wesley Penteado from my experience most of it comes back from saving everything to the pen drive. Things that don’t come back include IP address and passwords.
Great tutorial, but that middle finger.. ;)
@Paing Mang it works though 😂
it looks like you have a scribble strip?
It's funny you say that. I thought it had one solely based on this video so I bought one and was disappointed to find out it doesn't. I'm still impressed with it in other ways though.
Nakul Tiruviluamala There were other option too
Paul Hi, can I control plug in parameters in Logic? and is there a scribble strip? so I can see which track I am on?
michael algar sorry don't know about the Logic settings. Try the QU support forum on the A&H website. Unfortunately there are no scribble strips.
hello sir my name Dona thank you for video helpful but I dont know how send effect to the Aux1 Aux2.3.4.....please can you tell me thanks
See community.allen-heath.com/forums/topic/adding-fx-in-monitors-aux Not done this myself
I dont understand your comment about radio mics needing a different gain setting? If its to avoid feedback that should be managed by the fader? Also why would you need a recording mix when the desk has built in 18 channel direct to disc recording of all channels pre-fade ?
snipedoguk. Thanks for the comments which I will try to explain. Firstly, I produced these videos for the PA team at my church. So set up is specific to our situation. In our case, we do have an issue with the feedback on the radio mics. We could wind down the faders as you suggest. However, for ease of operation, I like to set it so that the faders are in approximately the same position as everything else on the board. Hence we dial back the gain a little. On the recording mix, we could use the built-in direct to disc recorder. However we like to blend in some of the congregation singing. Again, I recognise we could do it on the board. However, I have a camera operator who has been mixing output from the desk with a ambient microphone on a USB recorder since before we got the QU-32. By continuing to use the camera operator, it reduces the workload on the main sound tech. Hope that answers your questions.
Hello Paul, thanks for your reply. That makes sense, if you have a feedback problem I understand how that would help. I misunderstood when you referred specifically to radio mics for this, when in fact you would mean any mic. If you were following first principles of gain structure you would leave the mic signal optimized in the desk, and reduce the volume of the foldback wedges at their amp to achieve the same result. It is also possible to notch out troublesome feedback frequencies by inserting the EQ on the foldback sends. A very useful trick the QU desks permit is to add a very very small delay to the monitor sends, (below 5ms is usually undetectable, and the equivalent of taking one step back from the monitor) the interruption in the feedback loop this causes frequently eliminates troublesome feedback.
Thanks for the advice. In my case the feedback is not from the foldback sends, it is from the house main speakers. I already have notches in the EQ for the radio mics. I might try a small delay though.
How do I setup to record off of CH17 and Ch 18 to a PC, for recording the church service? You show the keys , but not how set up the keys. I am using usb2 in back of mixer to PC. I have installed the WDM driver, can not find where it the manual shows how to set up 17 and 18 for recording. Will I also be ableto input from pc?
In the video, I was recording to a USB hard disc using Qu-Drive which is limited to 18 channels.. This be default records channels 1 to 16 and then 17-18 as Left and Right. You can change this under Setup->IO Patch ->USB Audio. This is the same screen that you use to set up the PC patching for the 32 channel it can use. To set up up the soft keys, use Home-> control -> soft keys
What portable hard drive are you using that's compatible with this QU-32?
An old Western Digital 500GB My Passport (USB 3 version). You can find the full list of compatible devices here. community.allen-heath.com/forums/topic/qu-drive-compatible-usb-device-database
can I use it for home recording studio?
Yes. It looks like a 32 channel soundcard on a Mac. I believe that there are also drivers for PCs but suggest you check with the A&H website. There are also DAW drivers for Macs
where you get the small stickers? :) Is the FX only work for live? Im using Logic X as my DAW system and im having trouble getting the live FX through, it just comes in as the clean signal as in PFL.. the FX comes out through the monitors perfect but it records the dry signal only in logic, how do i get the FX to come into my daw system?
+Cosmin Cantor I made the labels myself and printed them onto magnetic inkjet paper. You can find a few templates on the A&H QU forum community.allen-heath.com/forums/forum/qu. Regarding your FX question, I haven't used our QU32 into Logic. However, a few possible pointers would be a) You can patch an FX as an insert on a channel. b) Under the USB setup on the QU32, you get to set what channels are mapped to USB. One of those options includes FX return As I said, I don't use our QU32 for streaming so you might be better off asking the question at the aforementioned forum.
Fair play, you could sell those!! ok that helped allot anyways, i went into io patch, usb audio and now im using channel 32 as L+R AFL as in what im getting through the monitors :) i dont know if its the right way but it works! been killing me for ages! hahah thank you!
Thank you
Will the idr-32 work with the qu-32? I seriously don't want to buy 2 stagebox or dsnake
+touchainz entertainment Sorry, no idea. Just a user, not an A&H employee or agent!
the digital era just makes it more easier than the analogue's
Obviously, who needs separate rack for EQ, compressor, gate, delay... pre amp.... Everything is here in a digital mixer
