    This is the duckweed farmig model for fish effectively. I think it better if you talk more in your video to guide it and the video should be longer.

    Duckweed regeneraes very quickly - takes only 4 to 6 days! So it's doubling time is 6 days. If the doubling time is 6 days, then 1/5 harvested will require 6 days to double it's biomass, or harvest just 1/6th to 1/7th of the total and leave the rest to double and multiply everyday to replace what was harvested everyday. Or we double the amount from 6 units (square area) to 12 units (square area) and harvest only 1/6th to 1/7th of the total and let the remaining unharvested balance to multiply and double and refill that gap in less than 24 hours EVERYDAY. Especially in clean and dinkable grade water mixed with dissolved rock dust powders mixtures at a rate of 5 kilograms of rock dust powders mixtures and 1 kilogram of purified iron ore dust powder made from magnetite or hermatite ores for every square meter of area at a depth rangng from 6 to 8 inches deep of soil. But we are involved in raising fast growing edible aquatic plants for direct and indirect human consumption so it is at a ratio of every 8 inches deep (avoid taconite iron ore at all costs because it contains elements of the lethal asbestos minerals). Use as food or food supplement: High protein (20% if dry weight) and carbohydrate (44% of dry weight) content, fast growth rate (doubling in less than 2 days under ideal conditions), and ease of harvest suggest Wolffia is a potential major food source for humans (Bhanthumnavin, and McGarry 1971). Wolffia is estimated to produce 60 times more protein per hectare per year than soybeans. Wolffia arrhiza is cultivated and eaten as a vegetable in Burma, Laos, and Thailand, where it is harvested twice a week during nine months of the year (November through July). Its calculated annual yield (265 tons fresh weight (10.5 tons dry weight) ha-1 yr-1 is more than convential crops in Thailand. Wolffia is eaten by herbivorous fish as well as a variety of waterfowl. It is also used both as fodder for cattle and pigs, and as a fertilizer because of its high phosphorus and nitrogen accumulation, in Africa, India, and Southeast Asia (National Academy of Sciences 1976). Yearling carp prefer Wolffia over 29 other aquatic plants, more than twice more than the next most preferred plant (Theriot and Sanders Sr. 1975), and increase carp yield (Kumudranjan at al. 1986). Wolffia has been successfully tested as an additive for tilapia feed, replacing up to 15% of soybean content (Chareontesprasit and Jiwyam 2001). Quail have been successfully raised on a diet containing up to 50% crude protein from Wolffia globosa, and the remainder from soybean meal (Chantiratikul et al. 2010). Use as food cycle for space travel A closed plant and animal system has been tested with Wolffia arrhiza because of its rapid rate of biomass production. The system is designed to function for a period of two years (Blum et al. 1998). Epineustonic “floaters” (thallus) on small ponds where wind disturbance is minimal, and benthic “sinkers” (turions) during the winter when surface ice occurs. Wolffia Columbiana has been shown to switch between these two separate anatomic and physiologic forms (Witty 2009). Two states have been observed also in Spirodela polyrhiza, Lemna gibba, L. minor, and L. turionifera, as reviewed by Witty. Transition from sinkers to floaters occurs in hours. Floatation is initiated by accumulation of O2 in the thallus parenchyma “small air pockets” through photosynthesis at medium light intensity (~50 µmol m-2 s-1), then assured by the development of substomatal “large air pockets” and accumulation of a thick cuticle (Ibid.). Low intensity (19 µmol m-2 s-1) induced a slow conversion to floaters, coming to an equilibrium of half floaters after 10 days incubation (Ibid.) Apparently transition to “sinkers” occurs at low light levels, but not in darkness, indicating that photosynthesis is involved, as well as accumulation of starch. Witty (2002) suggests the likelihood of an unknown factor. It seems likely that the cold air and water temperatures prior to freeze-up would slow or stop bud initiation, and lead to starch accumulation. Loss of the hydrophobic cuticle also occurs during the transition. Optimal pH for at least some duckweeds is somewhat acidic -- Wolffia arrhiza is 5.0, Lemna minor is 6.2 (McLay 1976).

    Hi I purchased a number of autopots plus the smart pump ad I notice you've used soil or potting mix to grow carrots did you adjust the nutrients down to compensate for soils natural nutrients? I also have about 20 Greensmart pots in which I'm intending to connect into the system and attempt to grow root vegetables in them such as potatoes. I'd like to grow without soil because many of the other auto pots will be running perlite/vermiculite. Would the carrots have grown in perlite/vermiculite?

    Galangal the size of large piece you showed is an unbelievable size. If Im not wrong its nearly impossible to grow this much of galangal in a year even in a native regions where galangal grows. In my opinion your harvest is perhaps 15 to 20 times more to the ideal harvest. Still find it unbelievable you got such results in 12 inch pot.

      anil SINAM - Pure water alone is not enough. Usually aquatic plants make for a fantastic "cleaning" system. Particularly for water contaminated with large amounts of organic matter (polluted). That's an added benefit. On the other hand for growing solely with clean water, adding earth and manure will "pollute" the water enough for them to thrive. Dissolve some manure in the water and see the difference. ;-) Fish aquaculture can also benefit. Cleaning the water from the fish dejects, while raising Bio mass at the same time.

    Would somesone help me what is wrong with my duckweed? Growing condition: 1) water temp less 30 degree C 2) sunlight cover: 30-50 percent. 3) Algea not seen, however a cloudy thin film is floating on water. 4) Nutrition not known, but roots longest are 20mm. average is 12mm. Last time it happened I add in a bit NPK fertilizer but it did not help. 5) First turning white then yellow then die 6) PH 6-6.5

      For all photosynthetic organisms that I know of, turning yellow is a strong symptom of nitrogen deficiency. I suggest you keep adding more and more nitrogen. High-nitrogen compost will do, but manure is better/more concentrated. Duckweed, aka watermeal, thrives in very-high nitrogen environments. Its now being used in some waste-treatment plants (essentially vats of fertilizer-water). Here is a good link with more info: www.mobot.org/jwcross/duckweed/practical_duckweed.htm

    Omg please stop hacking at the ginger. Plants are just like animals they know when they are being butchered they just cant run away or scream for those who cant hear it. If done like that not only does it hurt the plant it effects the flavor. Send lots of peace, love, and thanks to any plant who you would like to nourish yourself with. Because their energy becomes your own. You are what you eat as the saying goes. That old saying is truer that most understand. Most people want to laugh when they hear this. Yet most believe in a God and pray to him in thanks for the food only once it's on your plate. Shame. Shame. Who or what do you think is giving life to this living plant. I ask you, just try it for yourself. Do a little experiment and see how much better you feel and your food tastes.
