You'll also find tips on maintenance, travel, and general do-it-yourself information on vehicles.
EP3 Datsun 620 4x4 Pickup Project
A lot of time has passed since our last update. The Datsun's been in the shop getting the new engine sorted, along with the brakes, fuel system (including refurbished fuel tank), carburetor, and other mechanicals. It's now running, shows no leaks (which had been a problem with the new engine; it had to be re-sealed on a few places), and runs like a top... kind of. It's a short overview; we keep working on the Datsun with renewed effort and soon we'll have a longer update, so, stay tuned!

1990 Toyota Motorhome Upgrades!
zhlédnutí 10KPřed 2 lety
In this video I go over some (not all) of the upgrades/fixes I have done to the Toyota Dolphin. In the 2 years it's been with us, we've traveled all over the Western US with it, from Yosemite, to Vegas, to Zion, to Denver, Wyoming, Yellowstone, Seattle, Mt. Rainier, and everything in between. The little RV has been reliable and along the way we have maintained it mechanically as well as cosmeti...
2014 Toyota Hilux Overview
zhlédnutí 18Před 2 lety
In this video I give you an overview of a very basic Toyota Hilux which can be had in many other countries... but not the US. Although it is missing some desirable (and required) safety equipment, I still think there is space in the US market for a basic but durable and reliable 4-door truck. This is it! Also, #savethemanuals.
EP2 78 Toyota Hilux Mini Motorhome Update
zhlédnutí 1,4KPřed 2 lety
After some delays due to COVID, we are finally moving on with the Toyota Micro Mini motorhome project. The Mini was made reliably drivable by making some under-hood fixes. In addition to what's detailed in the video (head gasket, batteries, brakes, cooling system, etc...) we also fixed a leaking rear transmission seal, cleaned the carburetor, spark plugs, oil change, etc... Now, it's time to fo...
2009 Jetta Sportwagen MK5 Full Service, filters, oil, belts, spark plugs, coils.
zhlédnutí 147Před 3 lety
We purchased a daily driver with 150,000 miles. This VW Jetta SportWagen may not have a reputation of being as reliable as Japanese cars, but the specimen we purchased has a good service history and is in great shape. Today we are going to do a full service on it to keep it running smooth. In this video we show in detail how you change the cabin filter, engine oil, spark plugs (and coils), plus...
EP2 $700 1986 Toyota 4Runner SR5 Project
zhlédnutí 798Před 3 lety
In this video we give you an update of what we have done to our $700 Toyota 4Runner project. There are many minor details that we fixed, like trim pieces here and there, and a big one: A head gasket job. The project is coming right along so if you're wondering just how expensive these 4Runners are to fix, here is a good idea, as we give you prices on everything we've purchased so far.
TOYOTA DOLPHIN MOTORHOME DOOR SPRING LATCH FIX
zhlédnutí 573Před 3 lety
In this video we tackle a small but annoying repair that some older motorhomes like our 1990 Toyota Dolphin Motorhome has. The door latch is loose, does not latch correctly, and is just generally flimsy and has no "spring" in it. Finding parts to repair these latches, or finding solutions is quite the challenge, even though the repair itself is easy. Here we tell you how to do a quick repair an...
EP1 1986 Datsun Nissan 300ZX No-Title Rescue Project (bonded title)
zhlédnutí 34Před 3 lety
We bought this 1986 Nissan 300ZX that had been sitting for over a decade in the seller's carport in Arizona. The car has some type of engine problem (probably needs a new engine) and does not run, but overall, besides the requisite age and exposure issues, it looks solid. There is no rust, very little body damage, and everything or most everything seems to be there. There is one caveat. Even th...
Toyota Camry $20 Alternator Replacement
zhlédnutí 14Před 3 lety
When our 2011 Toyota Camry's alternator went out, and we saw how expensive a replacement alternator would be, we started looking for solutions. As usual, Craigslist came to the rescue as we found an alternator for only $20. We didn't know if this would be the right alternator for the car, or if would fix the problem... Our gamble paid off as we fixed this potentially expensive problem thanks to...
EP3 Datsun 620 Chinook Project Update!
zhlédnutí 893Před 3 lety
In this short video we look at some of the work that's gone into our Datsun 620 Chinook project. After fixing a problem with the engine, we now turn out attention to the cosmetics. Outwardly, the Datsun is in EXCELLENT condition, other than normal wear and tear. There are no dings or dents to speak of, though the paint is faded. The inside is another story, as the complete interior needs a re-d...
EP1 1987 Toyota SR5 4Runner Project
zhlédnutí 2KPřed 3 lety
In this video we take you on our search for a 80's icon: The Toyota 4Runner 1st Generation. This is the car that epitomizes the legendary Toyota reliability with its rugged chassis, bulletproof 22RE engine, go-anywhere 4-wheel drive and many other traits that make these highly-desirable vehicles. With the prices trending up and up as they become more and more scarce, can we find one on a budget...
EP1 1978 Toyota Hilux Micro Mini RV Project
zhlédnutí 9KPřed 3 lety
In this episode we get a through (and somewhat boring) tour of our 1978 Toyota Hilux Micro Mini Motorhome. We picked this up from someone who hadn't driven it in some time and it requires a lot of attention. What you see is what we did after we drove it home on really bad tires, so we changed those and fixed a head gasket issue with the 20R motor.
EP2 Datsun 4x4 Project Barn Rescue
zhlédnutí 2,2KPřed 3 lety
In this video I share updates on what we have done to our barn-find Datsun 620 4x4. If you've been following along, you know we picked up this li'l hustler as a barn-find. It needed a new engine because it had not run in years. As with any project, it takes A LOT of time to do the stupidest things. Here's an idea of how long things have taken to do, real-time: Carb rebuild - 3 days, radiator re...
EP1 Datsun 4x4 Project
zhlédnutí 3,1KPřed 3 lety
In this video I give you an introduction to a project we have in the shop. I was searching the internet and came about an ad for a 1978 (or 1979) Datsun 620 4x4 pickup. It turned out to be a 1978, as we were able to get clean title to it. At first glance, it looks like the truck is in disrepair but once you look at the condition overall you can see that this is a nice rust-free little beast tha...
He's looking into my soul bro
Me gusta cómo ISO para el diferencia al delantero
How does the truck handle/drive down the road? Is it kinda "squirrely"?
Nice work. 👍
I have the 1978 620 datsun chinook rv with the side rear door. It was any transported to the us from Japan
I have the 1978 model
My dad built one of these when I was younger. It had a Buick v6 that ran off of gas or propane. there was a switch in the cab that you could switch to the fuel type you wanted to run. for long road trips he would run the propane and when he needed a lot of power he would switch to gasoline.
I just bought a 1971 521 4x4 coverition with a jeep front suspension. It need new wiring smh,but I'm on it 👍
Thanks for this helpful video! I want to add those height and width signs to my rig after watching this video. Nice air bags! Does the mirror tint block out too much sunlight?
Window tint? 3 M?
I love to own one like that can be a very nice rig
Ohhh men you are fantastic in those improvement your toy locks perfect congrats!
Nice additions.
I really enjoyed your video. I have a 1987 Gulfstream Conquest that I'm attempting to modernize. You've given me some great ideas that appear to be relatively easy to install. I will definitely use what you've shown. Thank you.
Steal of a deal...SR5 very clean really..hate that red interior...great deal
Can you give the name of the stereo you installed?
looks nice
You need that ECT or your transmission won’t last with that load
Is it for sale
Lots of cool ideas here, I love these old Toyota campers!
you know almost nothing about RV systems. Calling the water heater the fridge, then the furnace exhaust the water heater! STOP PRETENDING YOU ARE DOING ANYTHING ON THIS RV!!
Super rad, Thanks for sharing this! We are renovating an 86 Toyota Odyssey on our channel. You are giving some sweet ideas!
here's a CZcams channel about the "ECT" power button does 👇👇👇👇 czcams.com/video/ZacaqteKOEw/video.html
The ECT button is used for going up hills so you won't burn out your transmission...high rev low spoed going up hills also going downhill
These are extremely beautiful trucks. Paint the frame add and chassis with black rust olem paint, and after cleaning put the bed, treat it to a painted bedliner coating to preserve the bed. Love these 620 and 521 series Datsun trucks.
Nice upgrades! Did you ever find a place to get that side light cover by the side door? Mine is missing too.
Good question mines us missing also
@@sandovalpaul I think everyone’s is missing after every one I’ve looked at lol
Just saw one of these in someone's backyard. They finally cut the grass and found this and an old square body chevy.
Do you have a hard time finding parts?
YES! It took us 3 months to get the rear brake hardware kit, it came from Thailand. For some reason, there are front brake kits, but not rear. The engine had some missing spaces at the water pump and we had to source those from a junkyard. The fuel tank we bought a used one and had a local radiator shop refurbish it. Things like that.
@@fourthgear8199 same here, I’ve a 1980 720 4x4 (l20b, 5spd) and it’s like pulling teeth finding (new) parts man, and when I do it takes forever. I was hoping you had better luck than I in that dept. btw, I love the solid axel. I’d kill for that setup. Did u do it yourself or was that one of the few that came like that back in the day?
That is so damn sexy.
I’ve been having a hard time with my lines for the evap system. Would you be willing to do a video on where all of the lines go?
On the next episode I'll try doing a video removing the air cleaner assy and exposing the vauum lines. Luckily, we haven't had to deal with those too much.
Wish Nissan would build these little trucks again, the 520 and 620 series trucks. Gas is now over 5 dollars a gallon. We need them! We need the gasoline milage and savings, as they don't eat to much gasoline because they all had fuel efficent 4 cylinder engines in them.
Love these older Datsun trucks.
Hi ! We just got one of these....do you still have this coach?? we have questions !
Music to my ears when you said "I like to keep it as original as possible". That's what I did with my '84 Nissan Lakeview. Too many "restorations" just paint everything black, white, and grey to make it "millennial", or or something. Wood is not an enemy- it has warmth and charm. That old Hilux is in good hands now. Enjoy it.
Nice looking Toyota Motorhome. I used to know someone who had a Toyota motorhome of the same vintage.
Hi, could you fill the water tank? I have exactly the same motorhome and I want to know how you fill the tank with fresh or clean water.
The more original the better. Thanks for sharing.
Who's 4x4 conversion kit?
Great stuff..I have the Toyota 77..same problems being solved. Thanks
Where did you get your parts from??
I have a 78 Datsun 620 chinook also.. it’s probably the one you see when you google datsun chinook lol
Nice !!!
Hi, nice truck. What 4x4 gear is in It? 720 gearbox and front axle? I don't think they came new with 4x4?
The 2wd would be shipped to a Datsun dealer then converted to 4x4 using a conversion kit available at the time. I know the transfer case they used was a Dana.
Can you please provide me the information for the springs on eBay please.
Looking forward to buying an old school 1977-1979 Toyota motor home
I am in the same boat, i have a working 86 300zx but no title. I started the dmv process but did not know about the bonded title. Anymore details on this process ?
🤙🏻
Sub’d Here for Datsun stuff and smell-o-vision!! Datsuns smell good...
Love the 620. I had a '76 2wd that I raised up and put 31" tires on. I took that little truck everywhere. I currently have a 720 that I'm building and can't wait to get it on the road.
