    I had fuel coming out that little vent line when the needle got a clump of varnish stuck to it and it couldn't close fully.

      It should just pull of with the three bolts removed. I hope its not seized onto the spline of the shaft?

    Hi Im working on my mates engine and there is no vacuum line to that very same fuel regulator. Im trying to determine where the line originates. Can you tell me? Also this VST seems very warm after running 10 minutes... that cannot be good... ideas? Thanks

      @hueymarine Před 3 měsíci

      From memory the second tube from the fuel regulator goes to the top of the black plastic box (Vent assembly) which you can see above the VST. Unfortunately not close to my boat ATM so can't check the temperature issue you raise but will get back to you when I run it.

    Thanks for that - I think I can have a go at fixing mine now! (Follow up: I was able to drive the bearing and clutch 'rim' out. Like you I'd hoped to simply replace the bearing itself, but the bearing is permanently fixed to the shaft as per your replacement item. Fortunately my bearing wasn't in too bad a shape - I eased out the bearing seal and cleaned and re-greased the caged balls. Might have to buy the parts new eventually but it's running fine now anyway.)

      That's good news. My bearing was definitely shot anyway as there was so much corrosion in there. Glad the video was of help because I couldn't find much else of use on youtube.

      @@hueymarine I only changed the fuel regulator, because the engine wouldn't work if the high-pressure fuel pump was broken, and it looks pretty good to me. Otherwise, now everything works and does not overflow with fuel

      Sorry I don't have that motor anymore but the recoil starter is usually removed by taking out the 3 or 4 nuts on top holding it on and then just lifting it off.

    Solar Tip.. You can steplessly dim down a bulge and all other hungry electricity consumers with a 5000W dimmer (7, EUR). I run 5 dimmers in parallel on an 850W inverter. Kettle 2.2KW at 150W runs 12 hours a day, so the water is always hot. The room is also nicely heated. 2.5KW washing machine runs in parallel with dimmed to 200...400W. Iron, dishwasher, oven, electric heater, coffee machine, all internal heating are throttled with me. Videos about it on my channel czcams.com/video/eC2olbCBhh0/video.html The inverter stays cool, quiet and the MOSFETs remain intact because extreme current peaks no longer arrive at the inverter. Now every Mini PV Inverter is enough to sell large devices...

    This could have had a past life as a surf rescue boat. In NSW they have the contract with Mercury for their 25hp seapro motors which are this exact same motor just re-badged and a different colour. Not sure if they use the same motors in WA though. They do the standard 30hp modification which is just changing the carburettor gasket/restrictor plate and advancing the timing at WOT. The other mods they do is lengthen the rip chord protrusion, put a stainless prop on and a prop guard as well as removing the steering damper pin which they snap off so that they can get a tighter tuning circle. They also replace the rubber mounts that attach the leg to the transom bracket with solid stainless steel ones so that the motor doesn't rip off the when they beach them. Some also take the tilt bracket off and make it so the motor can be started in gear.

    • @hueymarine
      @hueymarine Před 2 lety

      Yes I think you are right. It did not have the reverse lock on it which I believe is what the surf lifesavers take off so they can run them up the beach, Cheers

      Thanks Nuno. Would appreciate more information on that carb restrictor plate and what to look for. I know that many outboards HP rating is increased via the carb but thought this was usually achieved via a bigger carb or jetting.
