HEY WHAT'S WITH THE MUSIC......KILL THE MUSIC ... I DON'T WANT TO HEAR THE MUSIC. JUST THE BIO .....IM OUT .....GET RID OF VIDEO
God bless Kenny Washington may he rest in power
Almost 800 H.R's before the age of 35.....WOW.
I am just getting familiar with the pre-War leagues, teams and players. The segregation of major league baseball was and is still a blot on organized baseball! I certainly enjoyed your presentation of the great baseball played in the in the Western hemisphere. Well done!
Glad you liked it!
Cubans
Your only an African American if you were born in Africa and became a us citizen if you were not born in Africa then your just a black person
Very informative Thanks ❤❤
My great grandpa is the one at the top left I was told by my grandma they called him Lefty Banks 😁 thanks for keeping our Denver history alive!
Wow that's awesome! Thanks for watching!
My neighborhood in Nashville was Established in 1881 founded by former slaves ,South Inglewood
Just FYI, this video is in no way meant to discredit Caitlin Clark and her scoring record. Just wanted to honor an unsung legend and to show that Caitlin is in great company
Congratulation Ms Pearl 🎉
I am a huge baseball fan all the way back to the beginning. And I truly believe the negro leagues held some of the best players in history. I wish baseball would’ve never been segregated, but I’m proud of those men and what they accomplished.
Still the HR King! There's no asterisks by his name.
Just found out Pearl Moore was 5'6, D2, and 177 of her points were junior college. So, Clark has more points. My cousin has the scoring record at her hogh school, but that sure as heck doesn't make her Juju Watkins. Lol. 😂😂
the 4061 points came from her four years at Francis Marion. Those 177 came from 8 games at that Junior College. Regardless, at least at the time that this video was uploaded, she holds the record for overall scoring in Women's college basketball
Plus 177 points in 8 games is pretty impressive for a 5'6 D2 Player no matter what way you slice it
@@JDunlapTVand women played with men sized basketballs during her era. Im quiet sure she played in less games scoring all her points as well.
Remember, wasn't no 3 pointers
@@slip-n-rollboxing1826so Pearl is Steph Curry now draining 3s? The Showtime Lakers had 13 threes in one season (82 games), MJ was 9 of 52 from 3 his rookie season (again, 82 games). Everything after Pearl is invalid because it has to be EXACTLY like Pearl had it. Does Juju get to play JUCO players too???
Linda Sharp knew exactly what it takes to win
I didn't know javale Mcgee mom was on this squad that's dope
His mom was a baller
Just found out about this today 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Me being part cuban and being from the NYC area I had to learn more about this team . Where you get that jersey from bro ?
I got this one from Amazon a while ago but you can find some on Lids
Actually, Lids might be sold out of those but here's another link to where you can get one www.royalretros.com/products/new-york-cubans-jersey?variant=39320751800389
❤
Great video. Thank you for posting.
Awesome 😮
George, I'am a Cracker from Charlotte, NC. Really enjoyed this post ... Keep it up ...
Thank you.
I was gifted a long sleeve Atlanta Black Cracker shirt I learn about what I was wearing. Honestly I don't like the name cracker lol. I will wear this shirt with pride. Nice video young man.
Howdy JD ! Great episode ! I really like to learn the history of all the leagues. You do a real nice job with your production. I figured out how to set up my Playlist, I have one for Negro League and Cuban League players autographs my dad aquired when they played in the PCL. Great Show today ! Nice jerseys. C ya
My grandfather is Sydney Pollock. My father Alan Pollock would travel with the team and shared so many wonderful stories about the team and players. My dad also wrote a book Barnstorming to Heaven which is a great read.
wow thats amazing! what did he like most about traveling with the team?
The Institute for Colored Youth was founded in 1837 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. It became the first college for African-Americans in the United States, although there were schools that admitted African Americans preceding it. At the time, public policy and certain statutory provisions prohibited the education of blacks in various parts of the nation and slavery was entrenched across the south. It was followed by two other black institutions- Lincoln University in Pennsylvania (1854), and Wilberforce University in Ohio (1856). The second site of the Institute for Colored Youth at Ninth and Bainbridge Streets in Philadelphia was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. It is also known as the Samuel J. Randall School. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Institute_for_Colored_Youth
We must learn our history. It's our responsibility - not what is taught in history books.
Probably the greatest catcher to ever play baseball.
Moses Fleetwood Walker and Turkey Sterns. Sadly the majority of records were lost or destroyed. Plus they played well above the number of games that the Majors played. Sometimes 3 games in one day. Travel in a rickety bus and sleeping in the bus or along the road. Makes it hard to compare statistics but playing barnstorming games against the Major League players they proved their abilities.
Great video, thank you
they raced stockcars and played exhibition/higschool baseball after they left in 1951
Howdy JD ! Great Show ! Your production is slick. Usually, I would rather have no background music, but I really dig that loop. When I heard it on the first video I saw of yours, it sounded like Tribe Called Quest. Now, I think it could be DE LA Soul. Same bunch cats who ran together. So far I've done over half dozen with another half dozen in the works, on NLB players as well as Cuban & P.R. players. I did a episode on Emmett Ashford, the 1st Black Ump in MLB. I blew the ending when I shot the video. I do my Shows on my phone, so I let some bloopers go. Look forward to your Shows and checking out your catalog so I can learn. I try to like you, to do short videos, your better at it. Peace
Oh wow thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Howdy J ! You popped up on my feed. Great Show I can tell your really gonna help me out with my Show. I just did a Show on Kelly Searcy. He played on the Memphis Red Sox. My Pop has quite a few NLB players autographs. Like you, and a few others, we are trying to educate while entertaining folks and keep the memories and history alive of these men who went through alot at home and then overseas. Only to come home and have to deal with all the BS.... again. Peace
My Uncle Wally Osterkorn’s roommate.
after the negro league left they turned Wesport Stadium into a stock car track
The only player ever to hit a fair ball completely out of old Yankee Stadium.
Never happened, even Josh said so.
I think this was the biggest "what could have been" in baseball history! I wish Josh would have gotten a shot!
Nice video man
Omar coming!!! ⚰️
I met Sweetwater Clifton along with Walt Hazard in my fathers real estate office located in Los Angeles in 1966. They came to recruit me to workout in the Lakers rookie camp. It was a good time until I got drafted into the U.S. Army.
Factz 👏
Great content! god bless
Tone down the music bed..it's disruptive..be professional at ALL times.. and it will set you apart and ahead..I'm an aficionado of NEGRO basbol
Considering what basketball players were paid back then, I never would have played. Same with football. Only baseball paid decent money
Have to remember, they were both younger then baseball and less popular. That’s why. Kinda like the WNBA is rn but eventually they’ll get paid very good too. As it grows, can’t just pay more money that isn’t available
The executive suite offices for Regions Stadium is filled with gigantic entire wall photographs of the Black Barons, you walk out of the elevator and you're just surrounded by amazing history; really cool the team and stadium are honoring their origins
i love baseball❤
Yessir!! Goat status!
More like Babe Ruth was the white Josh Gibson!
No.
Speeding bullet fastball bBob feller would've put a hole in Josh gilbson bat ; bob feller strike out Josh gilbson on three pitches
@@loydkline Prep-to-pro? That's nothing! Bob Feller was in MLB while STILL in high school!!! Kobe Bryant, a Laker at 18? Bob was an Indian at 17!
Exactly!
Blessings . Kenny Washington is and will always be the Great. He definitely is on my Hall of Fame sports clothes line. My hero. One love Kenny Washington. Afro G64 lamiert Park Village LA Crenshaw 😇⭐✨🔥❤️
That's dope man! Glad you liked it!
Nicely done. One of Los Angeles’ greats. Kenny went to Lincoln and Woody Strode went to Jefferson HS, on the other side of town. Both LA Unified School District schools. One can only imagine the friendly teasing they would have had in the UCLA locker room!
