Foil Drive Session Killer - Motor Power Screws.
 These little screws are very precarious. I lay them on top of my board and keep a close eye on them, but they would be very, very easy to lose. I lost one of these. It would basically be a session killer. Getting a handful of spare screws and keeping them with your equipment I think is a really good idea, here’s a short short video just talking about that.

Foil Drive Controller not charging
zhlédnutí 31Před 14 dny
I’ve only been on the water three times and my controller has been charged the whole time. After the last session, it was running low so I went to charge it. I thought I would just have to line the dot up with the charger and that it would start charging. Actuality, the controller has to be on and the Docking Circle, has to be blue. The short video shows the almost intuitive reason why your con...

Foil Drive Controller Mount for Wingfoil
zhlédnutí 190Před měsícem
This is my third trial of attaching the Foil Drive controller to a Wing. This time I’m using a Velcro strap instead of ziptie. The ziptie had the restriction of not being able to remove while on the water. That made it hard to nurse the rig in when the wind dies. With this method you can detach it from the wing handle and just hold on to the controller.

Wingfoiling Listening to Music on the water
zhlédnutí 141Před 3 měsíci
This is a relatively inexpensive way to listen to music while wingfoiling. I use a waterproof phone case and place a Bluetooth MP3 player in it and then I have a waterproof Altec Lansing speaker that is connected via Bluetooth. Both are attached to the board using Velcro. The speaker straight up so it won’t disturb anybody because the sound waves are traveling towards you and not across the water.

It was pretty cool working with the app they have and trying different front wing sizes in settings. Still need a few more hours out there playing with that. I’m hoping to get a combination of Wingfoiling and zero wind pump foiling experience out of it. Feels like it will be the ticket, but, I need to get out on it a fair amount more. I’m on the hunt for the first foil board and the Hipe Cruzader keeps coming up. I know I know..I ough to get a big fat solid board and then sell it, but the thing is I am aiming for light wind winging simply because thats’s what I’ve got to work with most of the time. Training on my SUP with a centerboard has really been great fun and i have tackled a variety of conditions. I can balance in chop just fine, so the Hipe Cruzader may just work. Budget is a factor.

    • @gregstrickland9667
      @gregstrickland9667 Před 5 měsíci

      You can’t beat the budget factor. Flat water will make or break learning on this board.. that along with some wind. It is definitely hard to stand up on and almost impossible without some wind. You’ll see from this video that I only stand up if there is some wind to help provide support balance. A lot of people learning try to go out in little or no wind. You should set a minimum of about 10mph to even try. A good gauge for me is whether or not the wind will keep the wing supported and not touch the ground. You can do this from the beach. If the wing floats, you have enough… if it doesn’t, don’t try to go out. You’ll burn energy and not really learn a lot. How much do you weigh? Choosing the right foil and wing size will make or break your learning too. I can you give you some advice in that if you’d like.

      It’s maybe 40” x 40” It’s under 112 linear inches… can take on airplane as regular luggage… must be under 50lbs

      I wouldn’t wear it like a backpack… it’s way too awkward…. But the roller wheels work great.

    Hi Greg, really great content in your videos. I too want to get a Gong Cruzader. Any distributors in the US ? I could only see prices in Euros with high shipping cost

    • @gregstrickland9667
      @gregstrickland9667 Před 6 měsíci

      They direct ship from their manufacturing family in France. It took 3 days to ship to Seattle, Wa. I think you’ll see the prices in US dollars when you put it in a “shopping cart”. I believe it was around $800 total w shipping.

    At 85 kg, I'm thinking about buying the 7'6" HIPE Cruzader. Think that's the right size for me? Looks like you're using the unstrapped version. Any thoughts between the strapped and unstrapped versions?

    Hi Greg, i have the same equipment. How do you exactly manage the gybe with the Leviathan 1550. Do you have a tipp for me? Sometimes I feel the foil is on it´s own way... Thanks Bernhard

      Bernhard, I too am having difficulty in jibing this setup. I'm thinking about making a video on the challenges for any heavy rider to pull off a low speed jibe. The 1550 has huge lift but a limited top end speed, I top out at about 11mph with it. This just isn't quite enough for me to do much more than a 3/4 jibe before falling off of foil, I would be interested in a pole of 200+ riders that are successfully completing jibes with board speeds under 10 mph. For now I'm enjoying foiling in low wind and step jibing.

      It’s a waterproof Altec Lansing $20… velcro attached to board, facing up so it doesn’t project to others. It’s Bluetooth

    Greg, i wanred to ask. Do you have any experience with Gong Sirus. 156 sirrus vs 1550 leviathan, or 135 sirus vs 1350 leviathan? I want to buy a set for flat water pumping and use it for lightwind and i was wondering if there is a big difference between those 2. I already have few foils from Gong, but I see most people on Leviathan. I like gong because its much less $. However is Leviathan would be much better, id switch. Its just so hard since i have no way to test either one. Any input is appreciated. Thank you.

      You should do more investigation on the foil set up. I went with the leviathan because it was the only thing available at the time. Gong makes some pretty equipment for the price.

    Is that an inflatable board. I am confused -- does Gong offer both inflatable and standard?

    • @gregstrickland9667
      @gregstrickland9667 Před 6 měsíci

      They offer both. I went with the inflatable for travel. I assume the hard board gets up a little quicker due to stiffness, but I can easily pack the inflatable with 2 wings and a foil in the bag they supply, so it’s the clear winner for me.

    Great, thanks for the reply and the video. I am still deciding between 7'6" and 7eleven, and may regret going with 7six strapless for less weight and ease of transportation. I see kites in the video, must have been enough.. - I kited in Cancun at Moon palace hotel, wonder where this is ;-) good vacation

    Greg, great info! Do you think Cruz 7'6" would get you up equally well? it is only 14 L less but 1 1/16" narrower which may be better for forward motion.. Never seen this board in real life but seeing your results want to buy it with Sirus136 or 156 or Curve H 125 for light wind and pump foiling. I am 218lbs and 6'0". I have Fluid XLH 112cm for higher wind. Thanks for advice ;-)

      I went with the 7-Eleven because I wanted more stability. Check out this video. I made today getting up with an 8 m and 1550 Leviathan foil. You’ll see how it is and what it looks like to pump it up on the foil it’s blowing about 10 miles an hour and this video. czcams.com/video/Mk5ZuvXbU9I/video.htmlsi=41pPmjI5Ovq4dauJ
