I love you †your content. I'm happy for your mother. I love Chicago. Born and raised. I'm in the suburbs now, but your videos got me missing living in the city again.
Thanks, I appreciate it! So much to do in the city but also nice to get away to the subs
The rent is going up everywhere. I thank God we not paying NYC prices. Great review. Rogers Park is a decent neighborhood.

Thanks! Glad I can help. Congrats on your change to the Windy City đ
So thorough! Thank you, friend :)
Glad it was helpful!
I am looking for an apartment in Chicago, this video was very helpful. May I ask the name of the third apartment?
Sure thing. I think that apartment shown is sold but the building is 6030 N Sheridan
Thank you for addressing the ghost thing. Most people would avoid mentioning it, but the chance it could happen is very real. I love the old buildings, too!
Exactly, the energy in a place is importantđ
It's a big issue with what media shoves down people's throats, especially for young kids. Unfortunately, it's not cool to have real talent, showcase true art, continuing education or getting into a trade. And it's really not for the best that this is the "culture". Like we livin' in a world where women look up to celebrities like Sexyy Redd & onlyfans girls... those aren't fulfilling roles or careers. As much as media and these people try to portray it as "freeing and having true happiness", it's completely the opposite.
Right on!
Can you tell me the name of his realty company? I'm looking for a place too!

Sooooo glad i missed all of this!!!
Just got recommended your video. Wanted to point out that I am also from Joliet (still live) and yes you made some good points. Some of these kids have no understanding of respect which begins at home. Unfortunately many of their homes are already unstable and not physically, mentally, or emotionally healthy.
Shout out to Joliet and yes! Youre spot on. Thank you for bring this up. I wish I stated this family/home-life message earlier on in the video but I was too caught up in the rant. Having a rougher home life does effect how people act else where. I've even personally known some terrible up brings but the child goes on be the opposite. More love and support in the community does go a long way.

I love Chicago transportation
Just visited for the first time with my daughter and we stayed at the Hilton Chicago. 10x better than NYC
Glad you had a great time đ. Been to NYC, loved it but it is pretty crowed and dirty
I've definitely been seeing more of the public partying. People going to other people's neighborhoods and partying in the street, then getting out of hand. I left before it got like that at the parade. They were very lucky that the police weren't forceful.
As a fellow Chicago native. I needed this video. Rent is crazy right now.
Glad it was helpful! The market is all over the place
You have to take a look at the per capita crime rate. Itâs super high in every American major city compared to the smaller subdivisions and cities away from the city life. Itâs not like youâll just get shot walking outside but if your in the wrong area, you better believe it can happen
True dat
Life long Chicagoan, born, raised, and currently living in the city. Chicago doesnât have a gang problem, it has a poverty problem that the city refuses to address in any meaningful way. Especially in the neighborhoods that have rampant gang activity. Itâs extremely segregated here. The only areas that a truly diverse are on the far north side. Rogers park, edgewater, west ridge, etc. Even in these neighborhoods itâs segregated. One area might be all black, but then 2-3blocks later itâs Hispanic, then a few more blocks thereâs nothing but whites, all in one neighborhood. Itâs not nearly as dangerous here as the media would have you believe. Most of the crimes is happening on the south and west sides where generational poverty is the norm. Now just because you live up north, doesnât mean youâre âsafeâ. Thereâs over 3million people here, always pay attention to your surroundings. Chicago has literally any cuisine you could want, Lake Michigan, and great nightlife. But as a life long resident, Iâm getting the hell out. Iâm going to the burbs. Iâm all Chicagoâd out. Roads are trash, traffic is trash on epic levels, cost of living is too high, and the city seems to spend money on things that not only donât improve peopleâs quality of living, but actively makes it worse.
Right on. Thanks for your insight. The city is an adventurous life. I know many who move out to the subs to simpler living
Moved to Chicago a couple years ago after living on the west coast for 10+ years. Chicago is way more affordable than some locals give it credit for. I very rarely feel unsafe, or worry about my wife/kids, although we do live on the north side and that disparity is real.
Thats awesome! West Coast can be pricey for sure.
My wife and I live in Lakeview. Imagine waking up at 2 am in the morning to look out your bedroom window to see Chicago Police with riot shields and nightsticks marching down Clark St. chanting "Stay Back!". This has gotten worse over the past couple of years.
I feel you there. Definitely a shocking sight.
Me and my husband live in the area and this was a disgrace. Majority of these ignorant one's aren't from the neighborhood. They just come up here and destroy people's property and refuse to go home. It was bad last year too but this is the worst. Something needs to be done, it has gotten out of hand. Most of the people who live in the neighborhood celebrate then go home. Not these ratchet ones.
I also think they are from the subs or something. They don't go to restaurants, bars etc supporting business around. It's just rude. SMHđ
Grew up there becareful not a great area. Go by Indian boundary park great area
Thanks for the insight as someone whose lived there. Been a couple times, learning you gotta be smart over there. I'm seeing the housing market have more modern, updates to buildings so it seems the area is trying to improve and more families and students are moving in.
I AGREE with much of this video. I moved here from NYC. But Chicago is NOT the most segregated city. Thatâs exaggerated. First of all, every single city in the world is segregated. Please tell me one that isnât. But, Chicago is not the worse of them. ATL and DC are way worse. Also, there is no lack in the Hispanic neighborhoods, itâs just the Black American ones. The homeless problem in Chicago is nowhere near as bad as the West Coast. Not even close.
I'm just stating what I've experienced and for Chicago the cultural neighborhood divide has it's own issues involving inequalities of resources leading to more issues of crime, homelessness etc. This video isn't a competition against other cities. All cities have their own issues. But also I love ATL been there a bunch and it's always felt like a mix of cultures theređ€
@@chismprism I know you are. And Iâm stating my experience . I am very observant and I travel around this country and the world a lot.
@@TheRenaissanceAmazon Right on. I think we agree in many ways. Thanks for sharing!
You should do a video on the tunnels under the city, not many know about them
I agree that would be a cool video. I just have no clue about the tunnelsđ€
Purchased mine 2 days ago. Can't wait to use it! Thanks for the review đ
Hope you enjoy it!
Your first mistakes was going to the parade it's all kids , Grant Park is where it's more chilled
I'll have to check it out next year â
Everybody in the comments should be able to relate to this if your heređđđđ#StevePennMusic
Unfortunately segregation is just about everywhere in the U.S. Every major city I have lived in and traveled through out the states is segregated and that is based on the history and past of the country. People tend to live in neighborhoods where they feel most comfortable and form their own communities which can result in more segregation. As a black city girl, I try to live in the most diverse neighborhood I can but typically I end up living where itâs more Caucasians and it doesnât bother me.
I feel you. Over the years of city living I also understand why people tend to live in areas of people familiar to their culture (safety, comfort, etc.) On top of history events like redlining. It is interesting. It's just unfair when you compare it to crime rates, education, and resources equality.
@@chismprism Yes. I agree
I stop going to the parades because of this. I havenât been in over 10 years because people donât know how to act. When you donât show respect for my mom which sheâs an elderly lady I canât be there. Thatâs why I take the drive to Milwaukee for their pride weekend.
I understand. In the day it can still great time. I see families and friends just being happy. Its sad to hear how many are getting turned off entirely. đđą
Parts of Chicago are not as segregated as you think especially in Rogers Park on the Northside where i live we have a mix of every culture here from blacks, whites, African, Caribbean, Hispanic, etc
Great point. That is a more mixed area. It's awesome!
Hedonism & debauchery fest.
You can take isolated clips of virtually any group with a segment acting crazy then use that to justify any predetermined (often prejudiced) conclusion you have for that said community. The holocaust happened in part from making news zines that were spread pointing out poor aspects of Jews, the irony is the same could've been done for poorly behaved Germans. This kind of news reporting is very dangerous and unbalanced.
This is a bit extreme. In the first 2 mins of the video I state how much I care about my community and hope this kind of content can help us reflect on these actions. This is not a one off, its a growing issue. Verse ignoring these experiences and concerns I have seen and just letting the news media continue to paint this poor light of random Chicago crime. Its a complicated issues but hiding truths does seem like the best solution either.
Imo pride had lost it's true meaning , pride was about being accepted and loving who you love without being judged , but nowadays pride is so out of hand ( I might offend some of yall ) there are alot of hate towards women in the pride community, and why are yall always targeting kids? And pride fest back then was to have a sense of community and welcomeness , now it's just a big party with no actual meaning behind it
There is still a lot of love going around (especially with locals) but I agree there are those who just wanna party and can push it to far.
my first gay pride was in 1995 in Toronto. after what I saw I never went to another one. From what I see on the net they are 10x worse now.
That is sad to hear. I wonder what the next 30 years will bringđ
Ooof I don't go to pride cause its too crazy for me... But it seems like a disgrace to see this is what pride is about now (of course the good parts of pride will never be acknowledged- like the parade in the clip looked lovely), and how others people view pride (and lgbt people) and why.... *sigh* I'm all for celebrating, but this just doesn't seem like lgbt+ pride just people acting wild and using pride as an excuse. đą
I agree with you. And there is a lot of footage out there of the beautiful times at pride as well. I filmed some of the fun of the fest in my last BDAY vlog. All hope isn't lost, just would recommend staying around too late at night after the parade.
you find people shaking they own ass distasteful - does not mean they donât have respect for themselves. the rest of world is not what you experienced growing up, thatâs deadass how life works. itâs just as weird to say people turnt at pride need to be physically reprimanded for doing what the fuck they want as it is to say âblack people!! stop being the stereotype!â like what if you stopped looking at our actions and personhoods through the perspective and expectations of patriarchal white supremacy. we share similar sentiments on wanting folks to be safe, but we differ on imposing our standpoints over the partiers autonomy and shaming them for doing them.
I state in the video "who doesn't love shaking there a**" I love to tweak myself. But I do it in dance clubs or parties with friends not at 2AM in the middle of the street on top of people's property and cars. This is different than just harmless public dancing. I would think we can all agree that the underaged drinking, public fighting, and graphic extremes isn't something we should celebrate. I couldn't even post half the stuff going on in this YT video and it's still restricted.
I almost died at pride with my cousin in Baltimore and that's all the same exact things happening. And I really don't understand why we can't have nice things đ
Wild! Thank god you guys are ok đ
We're livin in end times, scenes like this are not uncommon in South Africa too. It's just insane to simply be alive right now.
Insane times indeed. Stay safe friend
No such thing as 'end times', but it certainly is far too much public display of ratchedery and needs to be reeled in quite a bit.
Sounds a lot like college house parties near Bpstpn College.
đ Thats funny! They must do some serious partying
@@chismprism enough for the neighbors to hate them. BU kids are far more respectful than BC kids. I think it is an influenza thing.
Great content ! I have been hesitating applying to study in Chicago base on mainstream media high level gangs and crimes reports in their broadcasts,.... Now , i feel more confident to make my mind #Thumb_up
I'm glad! I love this city, I'm sure you'll love it too. It has so much more to offer than what the news shows.

Crazy situation.... Pride fest in ATL.is almost a non event. I mean it's popular but its definitely nowhere near wild ... Sad
@@lloydthurstondinwiddieakag297 I love to visit ATL. I was actually there last October, there was a pride fest and parade. It was not like Chicagos at all lolđ
I was in middle school decades ago and I remember watching a black political commentator on Howard Universityâs tv station who said Hollywood came up with a dangerous new trend that was to take the culture of poor black people living in public housing and to popularize it. Making that dysfunctional culture mainstream. Rappers who glorify hood culture and even music moguls like Russell Simmons and Kimora Lee developed that denim clothing apparel line Baby Phat which had its tag âGhetto Fabulousityâ. Glamouring being hood and stylish at once. That was propaganda as denim is the cheapest fabric ever! Sexy Red amongst other rap artists promote violence, tweerking, light skin good hair, having intercourse with out dating in music is just a snippet of hood culture. Fortunately, this is a very small sub demographic of Black Americans but because of Hollywood you would think most black Americans live this way. Most Black Americans live in the suburbs. Hollywood and the liberal media/party uses Black Americans and are making them look bad.
Casual xes wasn't created in the hood and has been happening in all races for decades now and was actually promoted to generations of women (gen y &z) by white 4th wave social media feminism. Ghetto fabulous describes popular hood fashions hair styles, nails' etc, ones that everyone of all races ended up copying. All music genres came from ghettos and country too such as Jazz, rock, gospel, rnb/Motown etc but I didn't see you list that as hood/ghetto when it is. Also, Caribbeans have Carnival where they wear feathers and bedazzled bras/panties and dance, whine, and grind of folks in the streets but yall don't call that bad or hood or ghetto or complain about that. Interesting... Anyway, maybe if their community centers and schools + other funds/resources were not given away to others including illegals then they would have something more productive to do and places to go. Those teen clubs from the 90s/early 2000s might be a good idea too.
@@divasamai2251 thank you for sharing this! Even if itâs a small demo promoting it, the majority see this content and look up to it. Iâve seen it even affecting the suburbs but funny enough most can have a decent home life yet the youth just wanna act out cause itâs popular. The chaos out shines the normal.
@@ValenciaRose. you make some good points too. I donât think itâs fair to say everything is bad about what has be created from hood culture of all kinds. But letâs not forget the violence, very late night, underage drinking, chaos that came from an event that was never meant to be what it became. There are extremes here and in the culture that get exploded. Where is the line where we can celebrate it respectfully with pride. I agree with more community help for Chicago south and west area but I also wouldnât be surprised if there were people from outside the city there just to party cause that happens a lot.
@@chismprism The white/non black kids at suburban schools drink and do HARD drugs but are not called hood & ghetto, that behavior was not created in hoods/ghettos. Fighting is fighting and is not limited to nor created in hoods. I'm not saying the behavior does not exist, I am saying it is not/was not created in nor limited to the hoods & ghettos. It is not "ghetto/hood culture". Now, if you would've said gang and gun violence, that would've been a different story. That did end up becoming a part of hood culture after they decided to try to play rockafella, al Capone etc post peak black panther movement. & yes, teens have been banned from the movies and the malls in suburbs where I currently stay bc they don't know how to act. I believe it's a generational thing, not a hood/ghetto thing bc it is with all races and did not happen to my gen (millennials). The non black kids love to copy the dumb, criminal and dangerous pranks and trends they see on social media too. They are kids, they have underdeveloped brains and their parents are not doing their job.
@@ValenciaRose. shut up. they do it too is no excuse for this weirdo stuff. a bunch of violent crazy apples and oranges is nothing to defend. you and your comment made a point. that point is that for you and some here in the comment ignorance is bliss for the lesser of thought or moral stature.
The story about the homeless man is heartbreaking :( I am resisting getting on my soapbox about the subject of homeless people on the CTA, but Iâll just say that people donât understand what âthose peopleâ go through. They donât have anywhere to use the restroom, they donât have anywhere to shower, they donât have anywhere to clean their clothes, store or cook food, etc. That experience is cruel and humiliating enough - we donât need other passengers making it even worse.
You're completely right. It's already a very difficult experience. Some even have health and mental challenges on top of it making it harder to get out of it. No one should be bullying them.
Any update? Did any of them become adults? Did they become a problem on their own that you had to get rid of?
Yeah! The eggs didn't hatch sadly. I think it was because it was too cold out when they were delivered. I did do a deep cleaning of the plant with just some Neem oil, pest killer and dish soap and I haven't seen the Mealy bugs come back for months now.
