A hawk makes off with a duckling. When I shot this I didn't realize this had even happened:) It wasn't until I later watched the clip at home I saw the hawk fly in and grab the duckling. At the end of the video he catches something (a vole I think) out of my view but brings it back to one of his favorite spots where it swallow it's victims head whole! These cows seem to mostly fend for themselves but I believe belong to a nearby rancher. During rainstorms they take cover under the nearby trees and seem to get most all their food from naturally grazing the area and their water from well placed water troughs. When herons do it, they are called "evil." When hawks do it, no one bats an eye.
i guess because people don’t know that many animals eat other animals lmao. people usually have a set of animals that they expect to hunt, while other animals that also hunt are just ignored. people just don’t think of herons as hunters, since fish and amphibians aren’t like mice and land prey. but just stupid people being ignorant and shocked that nature isn’t a flower garden.
Mom made that last chick freak out moving so fast that it tumbled. Now it will be torn apart alive and fed to the chiclets....

It's typical of why ducks have such large broods. There are a lot of ducklings now, but if two or three makes it to flying age, they'll be lucky. There are so many predators.

Beautiful bird, love there eyes. Are they on the East coast? I've seen hovering like that with the American Kestrel in New York it's amazing.
The little duckling has long since ceased to exist. It isn't even bird poop anymore. 6 years have passed, and most if not all of those ducks are now dead.

If you are in a group and a bear attacks the group. Make sure you can out run the fat guy.
Proves that for animals whether its a herd or a flock, stay in the middle. Never get in front, because when the herd/flock turns to run you are in the back. And vice versa.
