In this video I get the front forks removed, cleaned, and installed new seals and put in new oil. The process took me more more than a day; but that's because of the cleaning of the forks. I get the major dent in the gas tank repaired. I got the front cylinder coolant return pipe off, cleaned it, re-blackened it and got it remounted. But, I didn't record doing that. For the rest of the video I remove the mirrors, blinkers, headlight, speedo, tachometer, dashboard, and horns. I also take apart the dashboard, tach and speedo to get ready for cleaning and polishing.

Radiator cleaner is $5 a bottle, and uses detergents and surfactants and works much better, while vinegar is acidic and corrosive. It’s probably not going to hurt it but I think the radiator cleaner makes much more sense.
I never heard of a radiator cleaner. I'll have to give it a try.
@@ChefHikerBiker On Amazon it’s “Radiator Flush/Cleaner AS105R”, I’ve seen videos of it flushing all kinds of gunk out, looks like it removes that brown sludge that tends to build up on the surfaces.
@@ChefHikerBiker CZcams is censoring when I try and say the product but it’s “total system cleaner” by pr es tone and you can get it prime shipped for $5. Looks like it works well from reviews and videos, but I haven’t actually used it. I usually just use hose water but next coolant change I’m going to get some myself.

On Iron Butt on Mercy is in the works. It is a special route, but it probably won't happen until next year. But we'll see.😊

IF you are going Darkside, PLEASE replace your wheel bearings. When a Motorcycle tire lasts 5,000 miles and you put a 30,000 mile car tire on the bike it is easy to just forget about those wheelbearings.

It's pretty cool of you to answer the people who never used darkside - even though they have the "knowledge" to "know" it won't work. Kind of like when the earth was flat. On my H2SX, sure a motorbike tire, on my VTX1800 that scrapes at 19 degrees, darkside.
@@FarmerBrianTee it's funny because I just read on a forum someone calling Darksiders the flat earthers of motorcyclists but in reality they are the ones with all theory but no real world experience trying it and still bash it even though it works. I am in the position of needing to replace the rear tire on my 1500 Vulcan classic and am most likely going to try the dark side for at least one rear tire to see what I think. Finding a tire that works in my fender may be a different topic. There's not a whole lot of narrow tires available and will have to up size but my fender just doesn't appear to have a lot of extra room even though it looks huge.
@@joshpod007 Yes, sizing is a huge issue here in Canada. Struggle to find anything to fit the 205 45 R 18 now. Might have to swap out to 16" wheel to use Darky now

Thanks for the video! I know youtube compresses the video, but when I focus on the cars from the opposite directions or the intersection, it seems like the frames are missing. Is it also visible on the computer or only on youtube? Also, do you use a case to protect the lenses while shooting?
When I watch the video on CZcams, there are times when my video feed lags, and it will skip a few frames. But when I watch the video that's on my computer, everything is fine. The Insta360 X4 comes with lense protectors, and yes, I use them.
HOw are you recording your voice on this...mic or cardo or what?

It's expensive, but works very well. I also use a Movo 400 microphone.
I increased the "quality" button up to 2160 4k here on youtube.
Do you think it improved the picture quality?
@@ChefHikerBiker uh yeah...like, 1000 % lol. You go into "settings" here on the video...go to "Quality"...and choose the higher or highest option.

What are the stock jet sizes? If anyone knows.. I’ve got a big air intake and running rich but if only cuts out at top end. Plugs are black so it’s rich. I’ve got 158 mains in it and 40 pilot thanks in advance
I want to say the pilot is a 20 and the main is either a 90 or 92.5, but I'm not absolutely certain.

Yeah, if you live around mount roads that twist and turn and you have a hard time maintaining 55mph, you'll need an intrestate when doing an Iron Butt.
Yeah, I have done several 1,000 mile days on interstates but I like the idea of doing it off interstates. Got me thinking though.

I think the reason why so many "reframe" it as you say, is because the bitrate CZcams compresses this into, makes it lose ALOT of Quality in the 360° format. The View Quality will be much better when using something like 16:9 or Widescreen. Being able to look around is pretty cool though, but the quality seems bad even at 4k due to the compression, even with the vp09 codec.
I guess that is a possibility.

i don't have blood sugar problems, but when i get invested in work i tend to forget to eat or drink. the last time i almost passed out my boss made it very clear i needed to start taking breaks. 😅 properly eating and hydrating is important, ESPECIALLY as a diabetic. i'm glad you were ok!
High and low blood sugar can affect anyone. You don't have to be diabetic for bad blood sugar levels to become an issue. But I am the same way. I can easily get caught up with projects and forget to eat.

My mom was non-plussed when I bought a Honda 90 when I was 16. She worried about me. After I retired at 65 I was still enjoying bikes and woulld visit my mom aboard a modded Ducati that was ridden enthusiastically. By then, Mom figured I might survive. I once bought a new Kawasaki with bent forks. The virgin rider was instructed by the salesman to engage first gear and release the clutch. His trajectory ended at a telephone pole and bob's your uncle...

After a close call in DC traffic on my Ninja, I was asked to sell it by my significant other- and I agreed that the traffic is too bad and it's a hobby I'll take up again when I retire (I have three bikes now in rural New England). The kid that bought it showed up to test ride in flip flops and shorts, and almost hit a car within seconds of starting a test ride. While he rode it, I told his girlfriend I didn't feel great about his skill level and she didn't appear to care and said he was super skilled. Three weeks later he was dead. According to witnesses, he didn't know how to countersteer and cooked it into a curve- into oncoming traffic. He tried to go extra wide so the cars could pass him to the inside of the curve, but went into a guard rail where the vertical supports tore him into two distinct pieces when he went over the top. I voiced my concerns to him when he bought the bike, so it's all on him. The dude even had to buy my helmet because he didn't think ahead to how to buy the bike and get it home without one.
Unfortunately that is a story that is told way too often
Just curious, What kind of bike are you riding? I can see its a trike of some sort. Is it a conversion 3 wheeler?
It's a 2022 Kawasaki, Vulcan, Voyager. It's not a trike, those are the hard saddlebags you're seeing.
@@ChefHikerBiker Thats cool. Say if you ever go up on 3 wheels, you might consider having it converted to a Reverse trike. 2 in front 1 in the rear. I just did that this year and like it a lot. Check out Endeavor Trikes over in New Prague, MN Norms been at it for 10+ years and has converted all kinds of bigger bikes. Your Kawasaki would be a good one to see done. Mine is an older Drifter 1500.

Great video. The 360 degree is awesome and your mic is perfect. We all get on the bikes knowing it's dangerous. Always have to have safety gear. I've given away at least a couple helmets to people who didn't have one. Even driving a UTV you need to wear one. Anyways I hope your Mom had a wonderful birthday.

Friend, I installed a 195/60 R16 tire but it seems to be hitting on the left side, it looks very close to the structure, not on your motorcycle? My bike is a 2005 Kawasaki vulcan 1600 nomad.
It is close but does not touch.

None. I was told that if you can slide a playing card between the wheel and the frame, then it's fine.

So to prove out your trip you only need gas receipts ? Or is there more to it? Curious here, I only just learned of this so I've not yet looked at their site? Interesting & doing it by the back-roads is a more noble approach. Besides, you see the world instead of the interstate highway system. I guess I should watch this now. back later. peace
They have changed things over the years, and I think they just need photos of the receipt with the odometer and a couple of other things; map, travel log, and other things. Check out their requirements on ironbutt.com

I think if you are going through with breaks shoes change might as well change break fluid and bleed properly. Almost 100% vague break feel is having poor or old break fluid.When you open and see brown rusty fluid please change it.
Did he fix the leak? I tried jb weld didn't work.
He had to weld it a second time, but yes he fixed it.
