Bobby Brown - Don't Be Cruel - March 1988 Master Instrumental (RARE)
Recorded as the second song of many sessions held and chosen as the title track for his platinum selling sophomore effort by MCA executives, it was later released on May 16, 1988 as the first single ahead of the album's June 20, 1988 release.
This instrumental is the ONLY one in the world available anywhere online (if even available offline at all), being that I had to spend over $200-$300 to get ahold of it, BRAND NEW.
It is so RARE, I thought I was NEVER going to upload it for that reason, but decided there were ways to protect it, even in the public domain.
I have ensured that if anyone downloads this and posts it elsewhere (especially CZcams), I'll know where it came from...(there are tell signs, which uniquely give it away). Please just share the link and keep it for personal use.
No one else even sells nor has this available to listen to anywhere, but yes it's 100% real unlike those generic karaoke versions.
Pretty much only Bobby himself, the producers, and former MCA execs would have it only at this point, as the Americas and Europe never got the instrumental as part of the single. Nor did Africa and maybe even the rest of the world at that.
Only one market did and it was extremely expensive, due to the unique format it was released on in 1988-89, solely for that (then) extremely affluent market. No CD nor cassette has this instrumental, so it was tricky getting this once I saw it and justifying it as an upload.
Thank you for listening!
Thus, I don't want to hear from trolls (not everyone) about nada, because I know what I provide to be legitimate and frankly I am not interested in fighting with miserable, individuals looking to scrutinize and nitpick what they personally don't even provide themselves. If you have complaints, bring someone from the LaFace production team or a Bobby Brown associate, that can attest to fact.

Nothing remarkable, the essentially the final cut as we all know. Just with the instrumental, with additional info. After being mixed into final form, everything was 100% complete by April 9, 1993. That is the date when every aspect of this composition was fully complete in master form and in the hands of Virgin Records, for promotional purposes. An edited version was also provided for radio. The original version of Open Your Heart, following Peter Rafelson's 1985 demo, but not yet mixed. Was recorded in December 1985 at Channel Recording, as the first song recorded for the album IIRC. This had just followed Madonna getting married to Sean Penn on her 27th birthday on August 16, 1985. Some of the photos were taken that day, September 1985, November 9, 1985, and late 1985. I am convinced that the final version of Smooth Criminal was recorded after January 5, 1987, when sessions for the BAD album officially began. I am also convinced, that when filming began on the short film in February 1987, he had it closer to complete. I am not sure it is this version though. The rehearsal video from end of 1986 might tell the story better. Notice how the BAD music in the shor...

In February 1993, while recording the album last track, "New Agenda", with rapper Chuck D (b. 1960) of Public Enemy suggested to Janet (b. 1966), Jimmy Jam (b. 1959), and Terry (b. 1956) that "If" shouldn't be the first...

All you need to own to get this rare instrumental version is the Bobby Brown Album titled Don't Be Cruel and the regular 7" single that isn't a promo of Don't Be Cruel by Bobby Brown or its Cassingle (Cassette Single). They can easily be remixed and edited together. The optional part is having a Texas Instruments TI-99/4A computer for the authentic beeps at the Thirty-Four seconds line being played on this video.

The demo was very less danced and more raw then the final product, but the two turned very in the RnB at the two. But the fact that demo vocal was used for the final product with just few minors changes at the end. This song was a love letter to her husband René Elizondo.

  • @WCD199317

Jimmy Jam told the string arrangements was at the suggestion of Janet and she wanted the ending to put a lot this feeling. Like they hear in this demo, not a lot of difference between this and the final product outside the bass was reworked in a more soft sound to fit and also the raining sound during the intro and the outro.
