    Late to the party, but yep, right side pain in the temple area. After about one hour, the pain sets in. I just removed a layer of foam on the right side, but haven't tried it yet. I'll likely also do it to the left side. I also have the SRL Mesh comm system installed. With it, I get the irritating slight touching of the speaker foam to the right ear. The foam is not removable and I haven't quite got up the nerve to cut some off. In all fairness, the helmet only has about 12 hours on it.

    This is a helpful comparison. We've been shopping for a new helmet for my wife. Her current helmet is an HJC (non modular). @@VoyagingVoyager Thx. We were also considering the HJC i91 modular.. but we're now leaning to the Schuberth. She tried the Shoei Neotec also, but she didn't like the way it felt/fit. She has a small head (XS) so we usually have to try larger helmets in-store.. and then order the proper size.

    I own a 22 Voyager and a 23 Goldwing. The Goldwing is very competant but the Voyager is more comfortable and just has more charactor. I spend more time riding the Voyager than I do the Goldwing. You have to put the Ivans tune on it but if you are worried about that Ivan will flash it back to stock for you prior to taking it in to the shop. All you pay is the shipping.

  • @sjbowman2560

    I have a Goldwing 1500. I would like to get a newer bike like this one the Voyager. I like everything about The Voyager except two things for one thing it’s heavier than my GL 1500 not balanced as well. It also doesn’t have a reverse. I would definitely buy the Voyager wasn’t for that.

    • @VoyagingVoyager
      @VoyagingVoyager Před měsícem

      Yeah I don't see Kawasaki adding reverse any time soon. I have never ridden a GL1500 but spent a lot of time on a GL1800. I would say that the Voyager is every bit as balanced as the 1800 and honestly feels a little lighter and more nimble on its feet. Low speed maneuverability of the Voyager is hands down better and easier to manage than the Wing. At the end of the day I wouldn't hesitate to own either as they are both excellent bikes. Thanks for watching.

    Want a great 3/4 helmet at a great price? I recommend the LS2 Infinity 2. It comes in 4 shell sizes and costs under $200. 4 shell sizes, under $200, who does that? It has the ratchet strap with the magnetic retention, the emergency release helmet linings, and a latch to raise the shield, so the shield will hopefully stay closed in an accident. It's currently my favorite helmet. I have expensive helmets, and cheap helmets, and frankly my favorites have tended the be the cheap helmets.

    I went to install the 4.5-inch lights today, didn't know I needed adaptor those too. Bought a 7" for the main bulb, didn't fit, ordered another one, the right one this time. These things are NOT EASY to find meaning there are only two people in the universe that makes them so the second one that's on its way costs a great deal more. As for the 4.5" lights, only Engineered Adapters makes them, and they are $69 for a piece of plastic. Well, you didn't show anything about 4.5" adapters in your video, so I didn't know I needed those too. BUT, I did learn what you did, taking out the speaker makes it easy.

  • @richierasmussen3086
    @richierasmussen3086 Před 2 měsíci

    Great, i can see I don't have to dismantle the fairing to replace the outer bulbs. I figured that you could access them thru the speakers. Also, the 12v receptacle (cigarette lighter) on my bike, I replaced it very easily with a USB port, voltage indicator. Consider that. How do you turn on the lights on your highway bars? Did you mount a switch somewhere? I am going to do that myself, along with some LED lights on the chassis. I will mount 3/4" switches somewhere on the dash. Once I try to install my new auxiliary lights and headlight, then I can investigate more on where to put them, or at least see if there anything in the way behind where I would like to put them. I plan on mounting the switches, one on the left and one on the right dash to the inside of each speaker.

    I have had a 2007 Nomad, 2010 Nomad and the bike I have now is a 2010 Voyager that I bought used with 1700 miles with the original tires on it. I have had terrible front tire wear on all 3 bikes. I use a run flat car tire on the rear, 205-55-16, on all 3 bikes. I tried running a motorcycle rear tire on front and mounting it backwards and got the same results. I just installed a new tire on the front, Avon brand, and I am going to try running a higher pressure and see how it does. I usually ran 30-32 lbs in the front and 32-35 in the rear car tires. I’m a retired police officer and rode crotch rockets all my life, I had a 2008 Hayabusa before I retired, and right after I retired I bought the 2007 Nomad on an online auction for $3100.00 and the bike was traded in on a trike and had low mileage. I let my oldest stepson talk me out of my Hayabusa and I wound up buying a new 2019 1400 Concours to replace the Hayabusa. I like both bikes with the Concours satisfying my crotch rocket desires. I never had a desire to be a motor man because the Harley’s were so slow, but if I had it to do over again I would probably get into motors. I had a good career, I worked uniform patrol in first district, Baton Rouge, the highest crime rate in the city, worked a few years in hit and run during hurricane Katrina the hit and runs quadrupled because of all the people from New Orleans moving into the Baton Rouge area. The last few years I spent in fleet management because of my knowledge of cars and all since I have been a drag racer from 15 years old. I enjoyed your video and agree with you about the air pressure.

    I’ve had 4 SHOEI full face helmets over the years, figured pay the extra and get another one. Always fit like a glove and could wear them all day no problem. Must admit I’m disappointed with the J Cruise 2 as well, same thing with my Left ear pad, very annoying pressure. More then an hour of riding you can’t wait to take it off, tried to live with it for 2 months and finally broke down and bought the 31mm cheek pads, just got back from a ride and it’s a little better by maybe 20-30% but far from problem solved. Very frustrating to say the least. Live and learn. 🤓 Update, ended up doing what you did by removing one layer of foam, there now is 3 different density of foam sections in there, closer to the cheek it’s much softer but the problem is higher up towards the ear. Getting access from the back of the pad is easy and removing one section with a sharp knife is simple to do. Wish I tried that before I bought the 31mm pads. Thanks for the tip, feels better so far. 👍

    Your system is flowed. You need to filter the fuel before it goes through the fuel pump. The fuel pump mixes the water and fuel so fine that the filter can not remove all of the water. If you run the fuel through filter first, it will remove more water before mixing it with the fuel. Good luck.

      @VoyagingVoyager Před 5 měsíci

      That's definitely an option, and you may get away with that on a heavy touring cruiser with low lean angles. However, when you get into sportier bikes, running the tire manufacturers max cold PSI will cause issues. As you ride, you heat your tire and increase the PSI, you don't want to end up riding on wheels of concrete. Also, the higher PSI will result in a colder tire that lacks grip. As a general rule you should look at the motorcycle manufacturers PSI recommendations and go from there. Again, on cruisers like the Voyager high PSI won't affect much because the lean angles are not high enough to matter.

    Even after the Ivan Flash, I don't see how another 8 hp could do a thing for a 900 pound bike. I get the smoother response, deceleration, etc., but there is no way the bike can be any faster. I wonder why Ivan never posts any 1/4 mile times after the flash? That's because there is no change. A 900 pound motorcycle needs at least 140 hp to even move along (160 would be better). My bike has 145hp and only weighs 510 pounds and sometimes it feels like a moped to me. I almost considered getting this bike at one time, but the bikes power just seems to be a huge issue(based on all reviews). Why spend thousands of dollars trying to bump up 8 hp? Just buy a buy that actually has some power.

    • @VoyagingVoyager
      @VoyagingVoyager Před 6 měsíci

      Thousands of dollars, what!??? The Ivan flash is less than $400. Even on a 900+lb bike, a 10% increase in HP also increases the torque, yes, it can be felt. Also, smooth power feels better than a jumpy lean engine. I think you are missing the point of why the Ivan flash is so valuable. From the factory the power is not smooth, 6th gear roll ons are not smooth, the bike runs very warm, the Ivan flash takes care of all of these things. I didn't flash the bike to improve on my 1/4mi times. Honestly I couldn't care less about that. You would have to ride a voyager before and after to feel the difference. It's VERY noticeable. You mention buying a bike that "actually" has power. This comment is a bit tone deaf. The only touring v-twins that are comparable are made by Indian and Harley, both are far less (especially Harley) reliable and have a much higher ownership cost (up front and in maintenance) compared to the Voyager.

      @@bsjacksI've been researching quite a bit and apparently a lot of Voyager owners are saying the flash did nothing for the throttle response. The bike only seems to run cooler because the flash turns the fan on sooner. Stock, it doesn't run hot...The gauge reads hot creating a pucker factor if you idle a lot. These bikes have been this way for almost 15 years. The flash is really only needed if you do an intake upgrade for the result of 7-10 hp.
