Changing the Speedometer Reading on Freightliner Truck

Previous owner changed the rear axle on this truck, and the speedometer is reading wrong. Had to call around and finally found out from Freightliner that you either have a plug in and change it with a computer style, or a set of switches on the back of the cluster. Guess I lucked out.

Repairing Deutz D130 06 Brakes

These tractors are notorious for brake problems. This tractor has had basically zero brakes for years. I took a chance and ordered the aftermarket master cylinder kit to try first. The wheel cylinders are mounted inside the final drive housings, and will be a big job to replace. Luckily, it seems like just the masters needed replaced for now. We'll see how long until the wheel cylinders start l...

    • @michaelhawkins2882
      @michaelhawkins2882 Před 2 měsíci

      I wouldn’t call it a bleed valve. There’s a breather plug on the top side. I show it in the other video, “why won’t the mower raise up?”

    How do you know when the bale is finished being tied?

    • @michaelhawkins2882
      @michaelhawkins2882 Před 7 měsíci

      On this baler, everything is manually controlled for tying. So it's done when I tell it to be done! You kind of develop your own style to tie. When you bring the arm all the way home, there is a knife that cuts the twine.

    So after doing a little digging, a common modification is to use smaller automotive cylinders. These are probably what was used in the kit I bought. They do not let you generate the same pressure, therefore braking ability.

    My 2840 was a great tractor. I found that rocking the steering wheel back and forth would bleed the pressure off of the pump. More importantly, a block heater was absolutely necessary in temps below freezing.

    What causes shear pins to break after 3 feet of bale of hay

    • @michaelhawkins2882
      @michaelhawkins2882 Před rokem

      Several things can cause pins to shear. If you’re only making a 3 ft bale before they let go, you have issues somewhere on the baler. Probably a bearing out or something rubbing somewhere. I have been having issues popping pins after I get to about a 5.5 ft bale. My problems are coming from the pickup though. One side on the pickup wore through the support arm and is causing the floor chains to hit. You’ll have to give your baler a good go through to find any problems.

    • @michaelhawkins2882
      @michaelhawkins2882 Před 2 lety

      Twine box is on right hand side of baler, as sitting in seat of tractor. Twine goes through spools to the front, then through needle/arm. Total grease points are just shy of 30.
