One question: how did you get the additional text and headlight on Betsy? Did you modify her with a mod or did you buy a completely new porter?

I honeslty want to see a British Map with British Light Railway Rolling Stock inspired by railways such as the Ffestiniog Railway and Talyllyn Railway. I know the gauges maybe diffrent, but I would like the idea of a map where you take coal to the port and fish to the distributors. It would be nice if they had contracts and qoutas instead of everything being self contained.

These models actually aren't the original models form the older dev teams. Those were D&RGW two-axle stock which were derived from the Festiniog Railway's cars and built by another company. I have the render image of the original models produced from back then if ya want a look?

i think that tunnels and Terraforming would be pretty nice to, so u can flatten out, Lower or Rise up hills to make the track smother so u can run more cars or weaker lokos around

...... *facepalm* okay first off though it's not talked much due to shifts in the US Agricultural market in the last 60 years,but Sugar cane was produced along side Cotton and tobacco in the South for well over a century. the Caribbean and the northern South American Nations are more noted for producing Sugar cane, how ever Sugar cane was produced from Texas all the way across to Florida, in fact I know Florida still has Sugar cane Plantations and a Sugar cane processing plant. Even though a lot of the famous pictures of the last days of the Plantation Engines were captured on the Islands of Hawaii showing the Sugar cane hoppers most noted. Most of the little plantation engines were actually on Plantations in the south.

So those cars that had the models shown in the old discord were not in fact Gregg Cars. They were in fact D&RG ones, which is interesting in of itself. The D&RG took a lot of early influence from the UK in a sort of manner, Palmer in fact going to the Ffestiniogs Double Fairlie Trials and bringing back what would become D&RG 13 “Mountaineer” the only 3ft Double Fairlie to ever run in the US. The smaller 2 axle stock they used was not well suited for the D&RG and they swiftly switched to Bogied Stock. As for those old models, the Developer who made those models left with them. This has been stated by several of the team that all the old stuff shown before Astragon’s time in the saddle is not a confirmable thing that will be coming to game. Still enjoy the Gregg Cars though. Neat early game thing for smaller engines and folks who want to keep their operations small scale and cheap (as I argue NG should be as cheap is the historic purpose of the narrow gauge). Now if only we had a Plantation engine to pull these cars…

I would love a new map, then I have been asking for that since they teased new industries before the discord server was nuked. They had a rough map that was 4 times the current size.

It would kinda be hilarious if 'out of ore' ends up having better rails, since the digging and terrain modification seems to be going ok

There is talk that they're planning to expand the map from 4km x 4km to 16km x 16km at some point in the future. We'll see what happens.

The future of this game looks bright indeed! I can't wait to see what comes to the game around the 2 year anniversary!

I suspect Century of Steam is going to sweep away Railroads Online like the oil turbine swept away the triple expansion engine… the maker promised “authentic rendition of western railroading” but has deviated to make the game more appealing to kids while claiming “this is an accurate representation”… the maker also screwed ex-dev Mark Huber (Hyce) over greatly, along with other devs who had worked hard only to have their work tossed out in favor of breaking promises to show off his hubris with German Fauxgeneering. It’s been fun, but it’s already heading itself out for that… but like HMS Dreadnought, Studio 346 is powering its way along now.

Pretty sure with 5.1 you can use the terrain tools to actively change the collision mesh (in regards to the tunnels) That, coupled with using the complex collision map as the simple map, is super useful combo :)

Sugar cane has been grown in many locations across the US and depending on the time period the game is set in I'm not sure if Hawaii is the right guess, perhaps New Orleans, and if so we may get Cotton at some point as well. With the live stock car I wonder if we will ever get cows or other animals.

I reckon Queensland Australia might be a bit more likely. Queensland basically only imported US narrow-gauge steam locomotives. There's a few engines in the game that would only need a paint job and/or slight model modifications. It also happens to have a large saggar cane rail network.

It has been stated many times, only American equipment in RO, could be North, Central, or Southern America. But none the less, American.

Personally I think that RO is going to fall out of favour soon with the future rollout of Century of Steam. Literally game over for Astrogon.

I actually am thinking that we'll see a lot of development announcements this week, on August 23rd in prepartation for gamescom. They pitched that at the convention that would be pitching what would be possible with the game. I have to imagine this is going to be big.

Hawaii is a part of America. Also Alaska is a part of America. just because it's not a part of the lower 48, as it's commonly referred to, does not mean it is not still America.

The old 'porter' wagons, and the current Gregg cars are not the same models. Those previous models were never sent to Keume, and thus prompted the new modeler to have to rebuild them. Also, Hawaii, being a US state, is still "inside America." The models featured at 3:45 will never see the light of day. The modeler previously working on those was removed from Discord by, well, discord staff. Very problematic , and as a result those models never reached the head developer.

It could happen like you say but it has been said Only American RailRoad and Hawaii was just a territory starting in 1898 and not a State till 1959. Southern States Did have Sugarcane back then.
