    What's the minimum router requirements for playing on godlike in VD ? Right now I'm having a Huawei WS7100 Dual band, but everytime I look down In Golf+ on the green for putting, I get a slowmotion lack effect, like the connection starts to be unstable. (Only when I'm looking down on the green) I can't use h264 or h264+ either, this setting makes the whole display lacking around every time a move my head and that's constantly. My PC should easily handle the high settings and I use 1000/1000 mbit cat6e cables. My router is like 2 meters from my play area and everything seems to be ok with my specs. No matter what codec I use, the green in Golf+ lack's. But when using Ultra mode instead, all the issues disappear. Problem is that I don't like playing in other modes that godlike, everything is so blurry and I feel like playing on a Oculus CV1.

      @DayDreamerVR Před 4 dny

      What PC specs do you have? Have you checked the virtual desktop performance monitor of fpsvr? That should indicate whether it is a network issue or PC issue. By going down to ultra and it working, suggests your PC isn't quite managing the resolution and fps. I would recommend that if you want to use Godlike, then you need to turn other settings down if it is your pc struggling, so set the fps at 60 or 72, or set it at 90 or 120 with synchronous spacewarp on. If you already have it set to this then you might need to reduce other game settings, and make sure you are set to a resolution (if using steam vr) of 1.0 so it isn't supersampling above the Godlike resolution. It could be worth asking on the Virtual desktop discord channel about that router, and virtual desktop do recommend some themselves. Hope this helps 👍

      @@dallelama8874 Nice pc! Still worth checking the virtual desktop performance overlay and fpsvr to see how your system and network are doing. A 3080ti might not be enough for Godlike in every game depending on frame rate and other settings. I also vaguely remember that some people have had issues with that router, but I don't know if it was ever confirmed to be the router or something else, so worth double checking the virtual desktop discord. Hope you manage to sort it 👍

    I set like this: Windows: 1984x1120@90hz In-game: 1984x1120@90hz Quest 2: 1.5 super sampling and 90hz Virtual D: High /90ghz + Snapdragon S. resolution (My Rig: Rx 7600 gpu/i5 10400/16gb) PC Lan wired, Quest 2 @ 5ghz DEDICATED Wi-Fi . Working like a charm, but as I’m newborn VR person, I have no parameters to compare. Is it ok? If so, it’s something to tweak and make it better?

    • @DayDreamerVR
      @DayDreamerVR Před 6 dny

      It looks good, but I would set it to ultra in virtual desktop (which should deactivate snapdragon s resolution) that will give a better image. You might then need to turn down the super sampling, maybe to 1.2/1.3. This should give a slightly better image as before you were super sampling from the snapdragon super resolution which wouldn't have been as clear as when set to ultra. You might not notice a difference though as the gain might be difficult to see 👍

      @@DayDreamerVR hey pal, I’m very appreciated the feedback. I will give it a try following your thoughts. If ya don’t mind I would like to ask you couple of questions, Tks in advanced. - Can I run in 1080p or 1440p? Will it reflects straight the VR flat experience fps? - I was tempted to install the VR Performance kit, but it just work for SteamVR games right? (Not normal flatscreen playing) I bought my Quest 2 less than week and still getting used to it, a lot of tweaks here and there, I’m kind newbie in how it works n behaves in depth, but I will get there once a while I’ve been surrounded by “computer things” my entire life.

    • @DayDreamerVR
      @DayDreamerVR Před 6 dny

      @@GoMArkkrAM No problem, happy to help. The VR Performance kit is just for steam VR gaming, so you won't notice a difference during flat screen gaming. I also just remembered, the streaming tab in virtual desktop will only affect VR games you are streaming, and not flat screen gaming in Virtual Desktop. If you look at the settings tab, set "use optimal resolution" and it will match your screen resolution to the resolution of the screen size in Virtual Desktop. This will give you the most FPS possible, whilst given you the highest clarity possible in virtual desktop. Play about with the settings in Virtual Desktop in the "settings" tab, these cover your environment and screen frame rate etc in virtual desktop, I have explained them at some point in this video. I hope you enjoy your Quest 2 👍

    • @DayDreamerVR
      @DayDreamerVR Před 5 dny

      @@GoMArkkrAM Sorry about that. So if you are using Virtual Desktop to look at what is displayed on your monitor, the settings tab, in Virtual Desktop will manage it. Your in game settings will change the look of the game, so low quality vs high etc. The resolution of your game will matter, and will be super sampling if you set your in game resolution higher than about 1920 x 1080. If you select optimal resolution in the settings tab in Virtual Desktop, it will set the resolution streamed to your headset at the best match to the amount of pixels in VR. Hope that helps, sorry :S

The point of this though was to show how you can adjust the bottleneck between your GPU and CPU, to allow you to share the load how you would like/need or to share it more evenly to get the most out of both 👍

So far both airlink and steam link have been terrible experiences. they caused bad performance and constantly crashed while playing. VD has been much more stable, however i don't feel like i'm having 72fps while playing. It feels more like 40-50 frames, even though it shows 72 on overlay most of the time and it's stuttering every 10 seconds. What should i do to have a smooth experience?

    • @DayDreamerVR
      @DayDreamerVR Před 21 dnem

      Have you had a look at fpsvr? I would get that app on steam, and run it when using Steamvr through Virtual desktop. I would put synchronous space warp always on, and probably keep the resolution setting as low as it goes in in virtual desktop to start. Then go into steamvr, bring up the fpsvr overlay, and check what the cpu and gpu usage is. Bring up the virtual desktop performance overlay, and check all of the frame times and latency. If everything is showing as running well and keeping 36/72fps (it might show 36 due to having synchronous spacewarp (ssw)/reprojection on) try and launch your game, then monitor cpu and gpu usage, and if you get a bad experience or if the cpu/gpu usage and frame times are too high, then reduce all settings and try again. 1650s might struggle with VR, but with ssw on, and settings low you might have a chance. Hope you manage to get it running smoother 👍

    • @DayDreamerVR
      @DayDreamerVR Před 26 dny

      At 120hz the frame timings are tiny, which means you really need to drop the graphical settings very low. I would recommend reducing the resolution very very low, see if that gets the frame time to a manageable amount, then increase it slowly. I have a 4090,and I have my settings and resolution high, but only run at 72hz, so my frame times can be almost twice as long as yours at 120hz,and I'm pushing my frame times to the limit.

    I'll be looking at Virtual Desktop and Meta Workrooms. On May 7th 2024, Immersed just pushed out new updates to their desktop agent and VR app that no longer support users with multiple monitors. You have to physically unplug everything except your primary monitor or the Agent will give you a big red text warning message and won't let you connect. They did this intentionally because they say multiple monitors are too much work to support. This is office productivity suite software whose CEO came on discord and told his target customer set that they aren't worth his development team's time to support. What is telling is that the general desktop population is almost 15% multi-monitor set-ups, laptops are just under 5% multi-monitor. I'm sure that percentage goes up when you look specifically at home and corporate offices. The Immersed CEO said multiple monitor set-ups were only 5% of their over-all user set, which means they are getting poor adoption from their target customer set, probably because the software is clunky and requires fiddling with to get working (sometimes actually requires a Meta Developer account and using a third-party tool to clear out some specific Meta app data settings). Basically, their target customer, the ones who will use the app daily as productivity tool and buy the in-app QoL features are not staying with the app because it simply consumes too much time trouble shooting. And if you pointed out the failed logic in their interpretation of the data, they banned you from Discord and erased the conversation. Me thinks they are having investor trouble.

    • @DayDreamerVR

      If you search in the windows toolbar for "graphics" then select graphics settings which should show up in the results, you can then select an app, click options and select the gpu. So select steam, steam vr and any games you are running that are using the igpu and set them to your dedicated gpu. You might have to add an app at the very top of the page if it isn't in the list. You can also do this in the nvidia control panel if you have an nvidia gpu, but I'm not at my pc to see exactly where/give directions to it. Hope this helps though 👍

    • @DayDreamerVR
      @DayDreamerVR Před 29 dny

      I would say that if you are able to get a good connection with WiFi 6, then there would be no added benefit of getting 6e. Getting 6e would give the added benefit of the 6ghz band, which the Quest 3 can use, but the distance it can go isn't as far, and it can't go through walls/objects as easily. So if you have minimal 5ghz bands around you, and you get a good reliable signal, then there is no need, especially as vr headsets can't receive much data and decode it anyway. That might change in the next few years, but the routers etc will probably have improved by then, and be cheaper, so I'd wait until it's needed 👍

    It is now May 2024. Well no matter what you say, I am very hesitant to buy a PIMAX product. First off, they are trying to do too many versions of the Crystal lite and not focusing on making one good quality version of this product. Another thing is the headset is to big and bulky for me. Lastly, the prices for these products are all over the map. i will watch all the reviews when the Crystal lite headsets come out, but I am in no hurry to jump on the PIMAX band wagon. I have watched several videos now of users trying the Crystal headset and they were not happy with it. Bye

      Yeah, I'd still be hesitant if I hadn't got it working so well. I really like the idea of the Pimax Lite, the standalone mode on the Crystal was pointless and increased the cost. Pimax do over promise and underdeliver, however by keeping most of the stuff the same, there is a significant amount of work they won't need to do. In relation to the bulk, I only used it for racing or flight sims. So it all depends on what you want to use it for and expectations. For clarity, at the price of the Crystal lite, that might not be any other direct competitors, and the Crystal is much clearer than headsets like the Quest 3

      That can be an issue with VR. If that is the case and you want to just get on with it now, I would almost recommend setting the resolution and frame rate etc low enough so that your system can run with those settings on just about any game. Then get on and game. I completely understand how difficult that is though, with my own personality traits I sometimes wonder whether I enjoy playing with the tech more than actually gaming. Can be frustrating when you look back at how you have used your time for mostly getting it to work perfectly, rather than enjoying a game which you probably would have got immersed in and not noticed a large number of aspects selected in the settings 🤔

I have the res slider in oculus set to max and 90hz. I then go into an online practice before the actual race. Observe my average fps in game and simply adjust the oculus refresh rate to much the in game fps for that map and car combination keeping the oculus res the same (yes it changes depending on the track and car combination). That's how crazy it is, even within the same game I get different fps depending on what is being played. But this system works for the moment. Unfortunately finding an average doesn't really work for me. Because Graphics & CPU tech is still a little behind there is not much room to play with. I have a RTX 4080. I'm not sure how well this approach will work with other games though. I think it will depend largely on the game. Sometimes I will also lock the oculus at 45hz, enable space warp, then use super sampling on quite high 1.4 or 1.6. This gives me amazing graphics and clarity but locked smooth at 45 fps. In fact if I had to decided on one approach this would be it and then I would just play with the super sampling. I never use Steam VR. Ive even tried open composite and the OpenXr toolkit. Oculus always produces better performance and image quality alone on my Quest 3. I cant stand FSR or DLS so I never use them. The image degradation is not worth it for me personally. So its either higher frames lower res or higher res lower fps.

      Dust is likely to build up over time, but I don't think you will need to worry about it for a number of years. You can monitor the temperatures of the pico 4,and I think you can with meta headsets too? (haven't done either for so long). So if you are worried, you could put those performance monitors up, play something that then shows high cpu/gpu usage on the headsets performance monitors, and check the temperature. You could then repeat that every year or so until you notice temperatures are getting too high, and then it might be worth checking. But realistically I don't see it being an issue for around 5 years or more (as a complete guess). Unless you really push the headset for several hours a day

      Steam Link uses foveated rendering, this means the resolution is lower in your peripheral vision, which reduces latency and increases fps. Steam link also doesn't go as high as VD with the resolution being rendered, or the resolution being sent through the data stream which again boosts fps and reduces latency, but both these things reduce image quality. Virtual Desktop is more capable when it come to image quality, but you would have to put the settings lower than steam links to get the same latency or fps. Hope that helps 👍
