Spreading Mulch Above Retaining Wall - Two Bobcats
zhlédnutí 865Před 4 lety
We were tasked with spreading mulch in an area above a retaining wall that was previously inaccessible by a Bobcat or other type of equipment. Ideally we would have used a mulch blower, but we didn't have one. So I managed to make a path that allowed me to squeeze the small Bobcat up there, but would not have been good for making multiple trips. Benji then drove the small machine, and I deliver...

Side hill mowing with the Cub Cadet Ultima ZT1 50" Zero Turn Mower
zhlédnutí 49KPřed 5 lety
Based on the response to my previous video, there seems to be a lot of demand to see this mower in action, particularly on hills. I hadn't done much side hill mowing with it yet as it was so new. So this week I mowed all my slopes side to side. The mower is very similar in size, weight, and balance to the Husqvarna that I had been using, so the learning curve was very minimal. So far, I am stil...

Bobcat - Install Sod and Gravel Driveway
zhlédnutí 2,6KPřed 5 lety
Client built a new house, but the contractors made no effort to leave a yard that could support a lawn. We prepped the yard by running the soil conditioner, removing the top layer of rocky dirt, adding several inches of quality screened topsoil, and installing fresh sod. While we were there, we excavated and installed an expansion to the driveway, which will probably receive a layer of asphalt ...

Bobcat Jackhammer - Concrete Patio Demolition
Hello, nice job, I have just hired a bobcat soil conditioner to try out on some loose asphalt tracks, I have a question I noticed you pull backwards aswell as forwards, when you do this do you reverse the drum rotation, I'm trying to work out which way the drum should turn
Hi! Sorry for the delay. In most cases you’ll want the drum to be turning the opposite direction from your tires. When going forward, you want the bottom of the drum digging into the ground pushing the material forward. Switch direction when going backward. Every now and then I would do it the other way, particularly when I wanted to turn over the material to freshen it up but not move it from where it is. I hope that makes sense. It will become pretty obvious as you use it. Good luck!
Yep
OMGOSH I NEED ONE OF THESE!! Where I live, a man could make A LOT of money with one of these!
It’s a great tool! The first major purchase I made after starting the business. Extremely useful for all sorts of things. Also, I actually just sold this one two days ago.
Great video and content! Rewatched!
Thanks! Glad you enjoy it! 😁
Which way should drum be turning going forward?
Hi Christopher! Normally you want the drum turning the opposite direction of your wheels. That way, it is digging up the top layer of gravel and pushing it ahead of you, which creates the box blade effect and gets it laid back down really consistently. Every now and then I found myself in a situation where I wanted to straighten out the surface of the gravel without dragging the gravel away from where it started. In those cases, I’d run the rake the same direction as the tires and it did pretty well. Thanks for watching!
Great camera view as well!
I have become a fan of the tiller! I am fascinated, thanks for sharing! Great video and content!
Rewatched!
where might you look to become informed on equipment setups vs cost vs performance? looking at used ro try to build knowledge base, great tool, want to learn more
Another comment about your voice explaining things! Its the best... Great Content and Great video!
If this house was on the market, I would’ve been drawn to this property because of this magnificently beautiful tree. Without this tree, I would’ve moved on to the next property. Without this tree, this property has zero curb appeal.
I enjoyed the video and have subscribed to your channel! I understand taking down the first dead tree. Nice job! I liked the second tree, and the groomed growth around it. It looked partly green and growing, and partly dead. But, I can’t understand removing the third tree. It looked healthy and added a nice landscape appeal (and value) to this piece of property. I’ve been landscaping my property, I would’ve loved to have that nicely shaped tree right in the corner of my property.
How do you feel this machine has done now with the mulching head
The Harley Rake is effective and the best!
My uphill tire is coming off the ground when mowing the slope i have. Seems the center of gravity is to high. What do you think of some weight put on the front of the mower to keep the high side wheel on the ground?
Always wondered why there aren't any weights for zero-turns. They're used on tractors all the time.
Get rid of the buckthorn Dude .
Your voice on commentary is soothing!
Combination of your commentary and the machinery executing makes this one of my favorite videos!
This is a great video that I continue to watch and enjoy!
Cant get enough of your videos! Love them!
The sound of the conditioner I love, the look of the gravel being worked is great!
Love seeing the gravel turning around and hearing the conditioner work! It's music to my ears!
Soil condiontners are the best!
Looks great.... love the grading process and the attachment! Great camera view, looking good!
Love the commentary!
Looks nice what's that machine on front and what's the going rate to do that size job. Crused concrete in my area is 17 per ton I charge 45 per ton for rock.
I'm considering this mower to replace my 48" riding mower but I'm concerned about the weight if there is ever soggy ground from multiple days of rain. Are they a lot heavier than a riding mower? Also I have V shaped easement by the road. I'm not sure this could get the slants on each side of the easement without the deck getting stuck on the lower part (ditch).
Love the sound of the scraping of the driveway! The conditioner is eating it up and making it look great!
Hi handsome the 1st cut at 3:23 I'm in love. Yes. Safety 1st. Yes , I'm excited a year later. I just clicked on your video 1 year after it was posted and I love that bobcat n head.
What’s the machine like on a slope or hill side
What I enjoy the most is the sound of the machines and gravel!
The driveway looks great after it has been gone over!
This is beautiful work being done!
I am a fan of Merrit videos!
Great video! Straight to the point, not a lot of talking and no music. Well done! Keep posting please
How is the transmission holding up? The internet tells me that I need a full blown commercial mower if I have hills, but your mower appears to handle quite steep hills pretty well.
It is fine so far, but I haven't been running it all that much. Shortly after I got this mower, I ended up caretaking and eventually inheriting my dad's big Gravely commercial zero turn, and I gave the Cub Cadet to my mom because it was so much easier to use. It is still running as well as ever, but she runs it pretty level.
You make that look pretty easy on those hills. How many years of experience on zero turns do you have?
Hi unclerico. I've been doing it for a few years. I also run a Bobcat, so zero turn is kind of my thing. Getting the mower to stick to the hill reasonably well isn't hard, but you're correct that it just takes time and experience to feel what it is doing.
👍
Price?
Looks great! I have a 3/4 mile driveway and I’ve thought of getting a soil conditioner so I can maintain my road. I’m guessing it would take quite some time to do that distance? Also how important is the roller? Could I get by just doing the soil conditioning without rolling it? Thanks for the video!
I’m a little jealous of your trailer
Not sure where you're located, but it might be for sale. 🙂
@@MerrittSkidSteerServices I’m outside Houston
Dude, please just hush and let us see and hear the machine. Way, way too much talking.
It just puts the finishing touch when you roll & compact it.
Any idea how those would hold up in rocky soil? I'm near a mountain and glacier left nasty rocky soil. Its very difficult to dig by hand, need an excavator.
Looks fantastic!! Love the rig/ trailer. implements. Quite expensive. To start out with a business like this would be a mortgage payment. Inheriting or slowly acquiring machines and implements would be another approach. New with 80k truck, 80k loader, and multiple implements in the 10 to 15k range including the trailer that's a couple hundred thousand dollars sitting there. Even used if lucky to find items at half price 100k min.
Nobody could afford to start from scratch like that in order to do small jobs like this one. I got the truck and bobcat with buckets for free. Spent around 5k on the trailer and 16k on the two big attachments. And a little bit on the pallet fork. That was hard enough. Buying a new truck or a new Bobcat was not even a remote possibility at that time. Slowly acquiring is the way to go.
Is forestry mulcher good against rocks and stones?
Nice video. What size soil conditioner 72 or 84? Thank you.
Big thumbs up for the ingenuity on that trailer, especially how the fork attachment fits in an otherwise unused space. Well done!
What did this setup cost you and what are you charging, is it per acre or depend on how bad it is?
What attachment is that you are using?
My bad, I just read the description. Cool video.
dang, i love the additional pin setup. just got my quick attach rake and it doesnt have this, definitely will set it up like you have it
That's what I say you cannot beat a good Cub Cadet
Thats awesome team work!!....👏
Have you had any problems with the roller? I am looking at getting one but everyone is trying to talk me into a plate tamper instead. I love the fork set up on the side of the trailer.
Compacting loose top gravel doesn't do much for it, does it? It the gravel doesn't have anything to pack into, it just stays loose.
Generally that is true, though it is still better to pack than not if you can. It is more about the moisture than anything else. The more moisture there is in the material, the more good it does you. I raked and compacted the steepest driveway I've ever seen while it was raining, and it held like a champ through some nasty rains for a really long time.
Can you do steep terrain? I need one of these. How much was it if you don't mind me asking?
I have been a little surprised at how steep I've been able to go. The job I just finished yesterday might be the steepest I've done, or at least top three, and it was no problem. Keep in mind that it was no problem after I have spent two years running these. Getting steeper is definitely a learning curve, so don't rush it. Turning one of these over on a hillside would be a very bad day.
Price was low six figures.
@@MerrittSkidSteerServices Thank you. I have one being delivered Monday to clear the areas around some springs have on the ranch. I am hiring the it out not doing it myself.
Is bobcat mulcher single speed or two speed looking at buying a bobcat mulcher but they on have the single speed one in stock
It is the two speed. Unfortunately I don't know much about the difference between them, so I don't know if you'd be sacrificing much (or anything) by going with the single speed.
@@MerrittSkidSteerServices no worries
How do you turn the lights off on these things ?
You don’t. They’re on if the machine is on.
