His dad looks like Little Richard. Sound like him a little bit too. He looks like he's wearing a wig. I know we know the history, but this video is one that showed him being genuine to his son and I'm sure it wasn't often that Marvin, Jr. had the opportunity to see this side from his father. He said he was a wonderful person and was proud of him. He did what he did, but you can't take away his appreciation for him in this clip.
SEEMS, DAD HAD IDENTITY ISSUES.❤💯 HE HAS A WIG ON! HE HAS FEMININE❤💯 WAYS AS WELL. TO HAVE HIS DAD BE❤💯 THAT WAY AND HIS LAST NAME. GOD❤💯 IS MERCYFUL AND JUST, I BELIEVE❤💯 GOD FOR EVERY SITUATION IN LIFE,❤💯 ANYONE CAN HAVE A CHANCE OF❤💯 SALVATION.❤💯 PRAYERS THEY BOTH, AT TIME OF❤💯 CROSSING GOT IT RIGHT WITH GOD❤💯
You can see his father is a total pos. If you were gifted a fantastic father, you can see the horrible ones from 1000 miles away.
This hurt my heart. Every word dad said, was like a “boy momma” thought from my mind, to my heart. All of the love, care, worry, prayers, support. Then you SHOT him, this treasure of a man!
What kind of church was this man a minister of?
I can see the pain in Marvin's Face he's tense and has his hands crossed . His pops deeply scarred him .
You can’t tell me that Daddy Gaye didnt have a lot of sugar in his tank thank 😂😂😂
Perfect example of 1 of the 7 deadly sins; jealousy. It’s heartbreaking when you witness it. Even though we weren’t there….
Punkass mf w that damn wig on. Took a whole legend away. Jealous hearted old bastard
One day God will resurrect him
Il disagio di Marvin si taglia a fette❤
Y'all are talking about his dad looking like a queen, so what? Half of you don't even know your dads! Plus, being a queen ain't illegal. Hitting your father, doing drugs and being with underage women are illegal activities all of which Marvin Jr engaged in!
Hes the coldest singer his words just close your eyes and listen to his divorce album still have me in tears Marvin Gaye the greatest whoever done it
Am I the only one noticing how much more feminine Sr. Was then Jr. ? Talk about insecurity
What a damaged and awful person. This crazy monster had the audacity to talk about building his son up when all he did was degrade and abuse him. He had no business having children but we have this legend's music all these years later. In his short life he became an American icon.
It’s always the closest ones that get painted as if they hated each other.
He makes my father seem like a saint.
This is rather bizarre to watch.
That's all he ever wanted to hear and receive from his father that unfortunately couldn't be consistently given to Marvin.
His father physically resembled a vulture/boogieman… sadly he was literally that.
Beautiful song
Beautiful song!!
His Dad was/ is "DEFINITELY" 1 of the "GWORLLLLLSSSS".
The Dads last name fits him pretty well and he’s basically like “ If anyone’s going to put my boy on a stretcher, it’s going to be me “! But yeah this man was a freeking Pedo looking Creep, poor guy is just getting the shivers when he speaks and he suffered so much because his last words to his brother were “ I got what I wanted…. I couldn't do it myself, so I made him do it.”
Sick abusive batty man ruined his sons life.
27 pieces lmao lawd forgive me 😂😂😂
You can tell Marvin shrinks into that little kid like most of us do around our parents however there’s an unease with both. Marvin Sr probably never wanted the life he had, lived in a time were folks were not as tolerant with alternative lifestyles he like others were lived a lie and probably grew to resent his family. Marvin Jr forever looking for that approval trying to build a relationship that was never there to begin with.
Marvin did so much to prove his worth for his dad who didn't value his own self so he couldn't recognize his sons brilliance. This is how tragedy is perpetuated.
Until seeing this clip it was very hard to believe that Marvin's father was cross-dr*ssing etc, as rumoured, and this was part of the antipathy between them (as well as Snr bullying them as kids and beating up on Marvin's mother).
Obrigada pela postagem. Ouvi sobre o pai, mas nunca o tinha visto falar. Marvin Gaye faz falta😢
Marvin’s dad is one of the most confusing strangest men I have ever learned about he’s odd in every way. I’ll tell you this Marvin did not get his looks from his father at all😂😂😂😂
How can a man says he was a minister or what he call himself shot and kill his son and he didn't serve no time for this.
I wonder if Bruce Lee and Marvin ever hung out?
His Dad was poor at parenting.
Man oh man! I was 10 years old when Marvin Jr was killed. I'm Detroit born and rasied since 1974 and my Grandma's Doctor Office was like 2-3 doors down from Hitsville USA off West Grand Blvd and kitty corner to Henry Ford Hospital. So not only did my grandma know a lot of the older Motown Stars but my dad and all my aunts actually went to school with a lot of them. So it wasn't uncommon for me to be introduced to so many different artists and musicians affiliated with Motown as a kid. And at that young age I knew the music because that's what I grew up with being played but it wasn't till I actually was able to understand the foundation of the music and history in Detroit and the impact that it had. But I'll always remember the day that Marvin Jr was killed because it was breaking news news on tv since we lived in Detroit and just the devastation and sorrow and an eerie hush that could easily be mistaken for a calmness is something that stays attached in my mind and literally a spine tingling sensation that is forever locked into my DNA. My Grandma died 4 years later in 1988 and even today in 2024 I have not go6t any cloaure from that day in1988. But I take some comfort in knowing that a lot of the Motown music is part of rhe soundtrack of my life and it was my grandma who helped score the music and sounds that are part of who I am today.
His dad sounds like a jerk. I don't think he ever liked his son and was jealous of him.
Listen to his Brand X tracks. Unreal.
His dad was a weirdo. He was jealous and gay 🥴🤦🏾♂️
I can see mos def playing him
I see a curse in most black Americans family tree
In front of the cameras he tells him he thinks he’s a wonderful person? Feels staged. Has he ever told him that not in front of cameras?
He looks so uncomfortable sitting next to his Dad. Sr was a Queen
i've always ALWAYS wanted to hear phil play swing. does he have any uptempo stuff?
Was Marvin Gaye a serial killer???
May his Soul R I P Marin Gaye
Marvin looks so handsome...daddy looks scary😅
Im not onto this at all!
He did not die of natural causes. His dad shot him. 😢😢😢😢😢 Or, he would still be here, today.
Why does Marvin Sr. Look / Sound like a Auntie 😅
Your music is still a Wow even today❤❤💪
