Tie the 'Cavendish' knot
The knot is named by the two Cambridge University physicists; Thomas Fink and Yong Mao, research fellows working from the Cavendish laboratories and authors of the comprehensive "85 ways to tie a tie".
In their own words: "This is the principal 8-move, 2-centre knot. As its sequence suggests, the Cavendish is a concatenation of two four-in-hands, one being a mirror image of the other. This gives an idea of its shape: similar to the four-in-hand, but much bigger."
The video is to be viewed as if you were looking in a mirror.

Tie the 'Plattsburgh' knot
zhlédnutí 531KPřed 17 lety
The "Plattsburgh" knot is named after the small town in up-state New York where Thomas Fink, inventor of the knot and co-author of the book "The 85 ways to tie a tie", is born. In contrast to its narrow close relative the "St. Andrew", the "Plattsburgh" produces a symmetric knot characterized by a broad cone with a narrow opening. The video is to be viewed as if you were looking in a mirror. -
Tie the 'Nicky' knot
zhlédnutí 280KPřed 17 lety
The "Nicky" is related to the "Pratt" and provides an excellent compact, medium sized symmetric knot. The "Nicky" is a very practical knot which can be used with most any tie. As you can see, the tie is inverted (the seam shows) as you start. This saves us one loop. The video is to be viewed as if you were looking in a mirror. -
Tie a bowtie
zhlédnutí 530KPřed 17 lety
This is how you tie a bowtie. The trick is to twist and tweak until finished. Bow ties look best when slightly imperfect. Too much symmetry is unnatural. You want people to see that its not pre-tied. The video is to be viewed as if you were looking in a mirror. -
Tie the 'Windsor' knot
zhlédnutí 7MPřed 17 lety
The Windsor knot, also (wrongly) known as the "Double-Windsor" (a non-existing enormous 16-move knot), is the most well known knot in the world. The Windsor is a large, symmetrical, self-releasing triangular knot. The tie was named by Americans in the 1920-30's after the Duke of Windsor. The Duke was known for his fondness of large triangular tie knots, but didn't in fact invent this particular...
Tie the 'Four in hand' knot
zhlédnutí 1,4MPřed 17 lety
The "Four in hand" is the most well known and commonly worn knot in the western world. The "Four-in-hand" knot has its name from the drivers of the four-in-hand carriage in the mid-1800's, who tied their scarves and the reigns of their carriage with this knot. It is a small knot with a distinctive elongated, asymmetric shape. The video is to be viewed as if you were looking in a mirror. -
Tie the 'Half Windsor' knot
zhlédnutí 1,5MPřed 17 lety
The "Half-Windsor" is one of the most well known knots in the world. This handsome knot is one of the original four classic tie knots. It is a symmetric, medium-sized knot with the figure of a perfect triangle. It can be worn with collars of most sizes and spreads. The name "Half-Windsor" is actually not derived from the larger "Windsor", and is not half the size of the Windsor, but rather thre...
Tie the 'St. Andrew' knot
zhlédnutí 735KPřed 17 lety
In size, the "St. Andrew" lies between the "Half-Windsor and the "Windsor" but is more narrow than both. The knot is closely related to the "Plattsburgh" The video is to be viewed as if you were looking in a mirror. -
Tie the 'Christensen' (aka 'Cross') knot
zhlédnutí 713KPřed 17 lety
This knot belongs to a bygone race and is one of the last remaining examples of old tie knotting. The knot was called "Christensen" due to its 1917 publishing in a catalog on behalf of the Swedish tie-maker Amanda Christensen. Its secret is not explained in any of the manuals of its time, and only in recent years has there been a renewed interest in the knot, and an explanation on how to tie it...

Tie the 'Victoria' knot
zhlédnutí 854KPřed 17 lety
This knot is identical to the "Four-in-hand", apart from the addition of another pass of the wide blade across the knot before ending. This gives a slightly larger knot. The video is to be viewed as if you were looking in a mirror. -
Tie the 'Oriental' knot
zhlédnutí 1,4MPřed 17 lety
The "Oriental" knot uses the least amount of moves possible. It's the simplest knot there is. The knot is very popular among Chinese youths, hence it's name. The tie, which is placed inverted around the neck, is suitable with wool, and thick silk ties. The "Oriental" knot is symmetric knot which gets bigger as the tie gets thicker. Top Video. Auch mit der Perspektive echt gut gemacht. Und wie hier schon einige schrieben, hat mich die Anleitung grade gerettet. Ich trinke heute Abend bei der Hochzeit ein alkoholisches Mischgetränk auf dich 🍹
Thank u
Traditional or full Windsor... most people go the half Windsor but the full is a nicer look.
❤
Thank you!
thankyou!
Hi
Actually the worst tie video I’ve watched. Way to slow way to confusing and not a single word to keep you along
Pplpplj.
fav vid of all time
Best one yet
Bingo🎉!
Thank you - you don’t know how many times last minute this has helped me 😅
Thanks u
My go-to knot in Catholic school fifty years ago. I hated the way it looked so crooked all the time, although to be fair this guy did a nice job of making it actually look good. I consider this a child’s knot. If you’re an adult, you should strive for something better.
Of all the knots that “look good”, this one is the easiest to tie.
Ihr verfickten Hurensöhne das klappt nicht!!!!
My tie never covers the whole knot what am I doing wrong haha
Poo
Thank you for using the proper name.
nice,i did it, so it will be tiring to tie a knot every morning to school...
Nem todo herói usa capa!
❤😂❤😂❤😂❤😂❤😂❤
I have an AP macro presentation and business attire (including a tie) was very important. Thank you so much!
It worked! Best tie tutorial ever. Keep up the big job :)
Once upon a time the demo dummy had a head but the new guy got a little too excited and pulled it right off when he tightened just a little too hard. Great demo!
I didn't know to loop it 2x. That is better!
Best tutorial I have seen yet thank you 🙏 No sound or anything and got it on the first try…!!!
I’ve watched so many tie videos and not one of them comes out correct and I’m doing it exactly how y’all are doing it
Thanks
Excellent video! Straight to the point, with no padding and the mirror image makes it so easy. Thanks!
This video has saved me at short notice so many times ! I’m glad it’s still here!
Another disaster in a long line of pointlessly unhelpful videos.
I have legit been watching this video for 10 years. Thanks for uploading this man. A lot of memories of tied behind my last-minute preparations and this video.
Made it seem too easy! 👍🏽
czcams.com/video/sF8QlC_sH3s/video.html
There are dozens of CZcams videos on how to tie a tie and the one that finally taught me is the one that's 12 years old! Oldie but a goodie. Thanks creator!
