My name is Scott Liggett and I am gearhead at heart, but I also love old boats and houses. I own four cars and two boats, most of which are over 50 years old. My current collection consists of: 1965 Impala SS, 1967 GMC pickup, 1964 Galaxie 500, 1990 Chevy K1500, a 1963 Glasspar Avalon boat and a 1983 MonArk McFast bass boat. My buddies and I also love crawling through junkyards, private collections, and random cars we see on the side of the road. I also like to drag race and autocross.
Check out Bangshift.com for articles I have written on my 1965 Impala SS, project Evil Orchid; my 1967 GMC, Project Hay Hauler; and my 1964 Ford Galaxie 500, Project Mud Bomber.

I Get A 1968 Ford Mustang GT Fastback, Bullitt tribute, Running Great Again!
I get to work on my all time favorite Ford! Then I get to drive it! It's a '68 Highland Green Mustang GT fastback, just like the one in the Bullitt movie. This one is powered by a 302 and 4 speed transmission. It was restored over 20 years ago and has suffered from not being driven very much. Which only got worse, and the owner wants to drive it. He asked if I could help make it run good again.
I jumped at the chance. I always wanted to get behind the wheel of this iconic machine. Follow along as I diagnose why it wasn't running very good and get it fixed, so it doesn't spend more time languishing in a garage.

I bought a 327 Chevy Engine! Did I Get Deal, Or A Disaster?
zhlédnutí 799Před 21 dnem
A friend had this 327 small block Chevy sitting in the corner of his shop for more than 20 years. So long, that he forgot where it came from. I always wanted to build a high revving small block and the price on this short block was right. The casting numbers on the engine caused an argument on social media to whether it is a 327, whether it is a 1962 block, or a 1972 block. A few people maintai...

I got a free Q-Jet four barrel carb from a friend and I wanted to rebuild it for possible use on a future project. In this video, I will show you the easy, step by step way to disassemble and clean the carburetor by not complicating things. I like the K.I.S.S. principle. Keep. It. Simple. St*p*d. So, I won't complicate this process with a bunch of useless garbage that won't make the carburetor ...

We Pull The Outboard Motor Off Our Junkyard Boat To Put It On Our Home Made Stand. Very Sketchy!

I was tired of looking at the eyesore junkyard boat I bought last September for its fantastic Mariner 75 HP Outboard Engine. It's also taking up valuable space at my house. I had been slowly gutting the boat of anything useful this spring, including steering cable, gauges, wiring, fuel tank, etc. And, now I need to get the outboard off and hung on a sketchy makeshift stand we built out of scrap...

Our First LS Engine Build! Did I buy a good used engine, or a disaster?

I tear down my first LS engine purchase. I bought it used from a customer. It's complete. And, a complete unknown to whether it's any good. In this video I tear down this LQ4 6.0 ltr I got real cheap. Tearing down the engine, and inspecting what I got is the first step in the process of building a badass race engine. I will assess what I have, then make decisions on where to go from here. I hav...

Great Videos. I watched all three. So I have a 1987 Ford RV E350 with a Holley partnered 4bbl. I don't have any room in there to do all these adjustments. I have to build it, slap it, and go. I was thinking the screws on both side, just turn out 1.5 times. Hopefully the floats will be correct, and go. I may be able to adjust the floats. I'm nervous, never rebuilt a carb, but it's leaving from the accelerator pump center, onto the manifold. Will just doing the basic idle screws be enough? I'm not looking for extreme snappy performance, just go, secondary works, and it doesn't leak. Also...can you assist me with what kit to get? Holley built it for Ford, but the list number doesn't have an 'R' at front, so that Holley chart doesn't seem to work. The List number on the carb is 50260-3 Manufacture date is 2616, so it was manufactured June time frame 2016, but it's an RV, and she has sat a lot. I just got her from the Lady who owned her before. Carb is a mess. It's electric choke, and I'm guess vacuum secondaries. Interesting thing, is when I first got it running, the down kick didn't seem to work, but I've driven her a few times, up until accelerator pump started leaking, and the kickdown did work one time, otherwise it was just dumping gas until it went faster. I'm so nervous about rebuilding her. I'll be using the carb cleaner in a can, and compressed air in a can...I don't have a big shop or garage. Your videos have calmed me, but a couple things, my fuel inline is different than yours, but the core carb, I presume is just like yours. Could I use that same Edelbrock kit? Internet isn't helping with that 50260-3 number. Thanks for the videos and your time.
Good god ,everybody do yourself a favor and mute the video.
What do the axels have to do with top speed
I noticed this guy did none of the oiling mods Brent Lykins offered in numerous videos. Did nit talk about chasing threads etc. He may have done them, he just did not talk about them.
It’s a great looking and sounding car and a prime example of 60s / 70s Pontiac muscle !
I don't believe it's recommended to reuse head bolts.
You definitely don't want to reuse torque to yield bolts on an engine. Many modern engines have these. Technically, reusing a bolt depends on how much stretch it has endured from being torqued before. Measuring bolt stretch requires special tools. On these old Ford engines, not using anything special in the way of gaskets or aftermarket heads, reusing the head bolts is fine.
So theres no ground wire hooked up on this?
No. The alternator is grounded to the engine.
I put efi on my AMX it was a pia.went back to carb.
Some of the best rewards come from the toughest installs.
Carb For the sound aesthetic and overall badassery Efi For peformance Fuel economy And Not as much But 25%less badassery
What was wrong with the color green? I own a 70 Forest Green L34 4spd with white stripes. I happen to like the color. It's different from the norm Cranberry Red. Really I like all the color choices that were available for the 70 Chevelle line. You know, to each their own. Great video and two fantastic cars. Thanks for sharing.
If you want to show your shop's talent for restoring a car, there is nothing less forgiving as a black car.
those blocks arent that easy to find. i would go for 6000 max thats all you need save the block do not destroy it its one of gms jewels. it will make a 350 look like its standing still on take off if its set up right. my brother had a worn out 327 2 bbl with a 4 speed saginaw in a beat up 1968 camaro that poor thing had tons of power but it beleive it or not burned more oil than gas. nothing like sitting at a stop light and having to rool down the windows chocking from burning all of the oil .it had a broken rear leaf spring in the rear was scary to drive.hesold it to a freind and his freind had got stopped and got a ticket for exessive oil smoke. pretty rediculous. dont know what happened to it it was about 40 plus years ago.thought i would run that by you. a nice set of flat top forged pistons, 0.030 over, cam and dual plane good carb electronic ignition and hang on. you dont need any zombie ls stuppidity. just one screamin s.o.b ing 327. i am sure it will be a awesome street killer! take care and go after some brand xs.
Find me a 1996 ford Eddie Bauer front bumper flood and dash mats
Me too
Hope you didn't pay much for that one
About its value as scrap.
Fantástico modelo muy buen ecponente de esa epoca maravillosa
I put a 327 in my 78 camaro. Large journal version
I ran the block number on the internet search engine 3959512. '62-'63 327 2 bolt. The front engine serial boss numbers & letters are difficult to decipher.
Mother had a 64' and she loved it and I wish I could be able showed it to her! My Dad stole it forged the title and destroyed it. Had a 327 and a turbo 350 and she ran. White interior and red body.
Very Good, T/Y!
Nice to see a video on an old holsclaw trailer. I have one myself underneath a 1957 blue star islander. Super trailers
Very cool!! This one tows better than any of the newer ones I have had.
I have done the tour Nebraska twice now and it was a blast both times. Love the video thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it! What did you take on the tour?
@@RebeldryversGarage My boy and I are the 429 Mach1 mustang behind you at Fairbury. I followed you from Fairbury to Bellville. Great Video!!!
Could the brown wire, key on wire, be used for an electric water pump if also using with a relay ?
Sure. using the brown wire to turn on a relay for electric fans or water pump would work fine.
@@davidcraft4909 I am not saying to power the water pump directly off the brown wire. It would be used to turn on a relay where the power wire to the water pump would be directly from the battery.
@@RebeldryversGarage oh ok, I deleted the comment because I was wrong about that.
When I mash the gas it won't speed up 4160 holly
Before making any changes to your carb. Be sure your timing is set correctly, and is advancing off idle. I fought for a week on a carb, only to notice my timing stayed right at initial timing as the engine tried to rev.
Thank you. Your series on rebuilding and setting the carburetor have been invaluable to me. Thanks to your videos I was able to fix my carb!
Great to hear!
19:45 Not a '68, that's a '69 or '70 model year. 23:11 Not a Town Car, that's a Continental Mark VI model. 43:54 Not a Cadillac, that's a '58 Chevrolet.
Still got the bp 355? Sounds real good honestly just enough lope!
Nope. That's the 383 I built. Sold the 355 to a friend. We did a build series on it and installed it in his 1971 C10.
Imagin how hundreds of them would sound at the same time?
7+ minutes of talking for 30 seconds of what we actually came to see 🙄
Closed it to soon 😞
is that the 390 engine? if so i have the same engine and Carb, i have to spray gas directly into the carb for my car to start, i've taken it down and cleaned every part of the carb but no change, any suggestions please? it's a brand new carb but i had it sitting up unused for years, it's a restoration project
428. Is this at every start up? Or, just after it sits a few days, weeks?
This generation of Firebird does not have an inside hood release. It’s under the front license plate area. As others have said this is a 1978 as those are Fisher style T-tops which were not used in 1977. I would agree that this is possibly a Y88 Gold SE, and if so and it’s a true force speed it’s certainly worth restoring. The only way to verify if it’s a true Y88 would be to send the VIN number to PHS and get an information packet on it.
That is four speed. Lol.
Nice car and your car seems to drive very smooth. I am working on a similar motor and trans combo. Are you happy with the cam and driveability. What kind of vacuum are you getting at idle and will it work with power vacuum brakes?
I have been mostly daily driving it the last couple of months. Drivability is just fine. It's pulling plenty of vacuum at idle, 12-14 inches at 900 rpm. I can't tell you how it would work with vacuum power brakes as I have hydroboost. The cam is a Nitrous/Blower grind from Comp, with a wide lobe separation angle, that helps with vacuum.
Thanks for the reply! Really helpful info.
How are you liking the cam with your combo and how is on the highway with the double overdrive? What rpm can you safely run when cruzing on the highway?
6th gear at 2200 rpm is about 85 mph. With 3.73's.
That is sweet what size rims?
15x7's front with 235/60's. Rears are 15x8's with 275/60's.
Nebraskan 'hey how's it goin?' gesture is a bird.
That's how my buddy says Hi to everyone.

My first car was a 65 Impala SS! Wish I still had her!😭😭😭😭😭😭
I hear this story a lot when I am out driving it.
Love the video I have a Johnson 112 SPL 2 stroke where do you buy your parts it's hard for me to find them?
There is a local independent marine repair shop in the town I live in. Haven't tried ordering parts online yet.
It's amazing how the camera speed and the engine speed synchronize to make it appear the engine blades are hardly moving.
Nothing else sounds quite like the 12 banger on a Spitfire.
Cool😁👍
I wonder how the auction went for these cars ?
They all sold. Some more than should have.
LOVE IT ,I PREFER SS/T CHROME CRAGARS..THOSE RIMS KOOL ! IM AN OLD SCHOOLER.YA DIGG ✌🏾
I watched last year. And you ram hose water to engines. I thought you add antifreeze to water hose. And should take 1/2 hour.? Lol😮
I have before. But, most pros don't as long as you put the engine as vertical as possible it will drain all the water of the engine
Oh and I thought you had to add antifreeze to the earmuffs?? 😮you just reintroduced water to motor.?? No ?
I had done that for several years. But, I had found it is generally a waste of time if you put the engine as vertical as possible. The water runs drains from the motor that way.
That’s funny. ? Blue out the top!! Blue oil.!! Then you put blue gas stable.in . I’m always blue when I have to winterize 🥶 winter ❄️.
How’s that 400 working for you after two years ? I’m really thinking about putting it in my 65
Works perfect. Loads of power. Now, I just need to add the power adder to this power adder 400.
@@RebeldryversGarage any issues ?..I’ve heard good and bad on blueprints engines …what about cooling ?
Yes! Definitely videos on wiring & electrical! That’s where I have most trouble! Currently I need to replace the ignition switch in the 1973 Winnebago Brave (Dodge RM-300 chassis), & not only do I need to find a replacement, but I also still need to get it out of the steering wheel column housing that’s in 3 sections, but I can’t figure out how to get the bottom section to lower down so I can access it! I’ve taken it apart so many times & then have to put it back together so I can tow it for street cleaning, so it’s a hassle. I’m figuring for now I’ll rebuild the carburetor, & maybe I can learn how to just Hotwire it, & do that until I can get the ignition switch & figure out how to fix it! LOL I’m an amateur, so it just takes me a lot longer to figure everything out, that’s why I love the educational “how to” videos for literally almost everything out there. I can’t afford to hire anyone, & in this city it’s best to just DIY, because most people don’t seem to know what they’re doing either, but the difference is, “if you want something done right, you need to do it yourself”, as the saying always goes! LOL Thanks!
I try to use a see through plastic bag or containers to take apart things with springs, that way it’ll fly into the bag instead! Of course, if I don’t know if something is going to fly out in the first place, it’s hard to predict, so sometimes just using a see through plastic covering so you can see what you’re doing might save headaches of looking for flying parts! That’s my amateur tip, because I’m a complete amateur! LOL
That Coca-Cola will definitely break down any rust & impurities! At least the mid-1900’s Coca-Cola, but I’m sure the same formula still applies nowadays! LOL I have to rebuild my 4150 manual choke Holley, but I’ve never done one before, hence I’m studying & researching before I wrench!
This is the best Holley how to video I've seen
Glad it was helpful.
