What rod/reel are you using?
@@TheHeatedGaming 5.5 ft IM7 graphite rod, and Mitchel avocet 320 reel. That reel is the AK47 of fishing reels, very durable, but ya no longer distributed in the US so ya have to go through some channels to get one, or get it 2nd hand. Oh and a longer rod would be better for those waters, maybe a 7ft for the cast distance, but fast action ultralight what I recommend

I just found 5 of these on my wood pile, such a cool looking mushroom. I'm not sure i have the confidence to eat one but I'm pretty sure it's the same one.. pink veil and all.

Thanks! And nice hat!
1. Can this mushroom be dehydrated for later use? 2. Does it keep coming back on the logs it is found on? 3. Does a person need to make sure to leave so much on the log in order for it to keep coming back?
@@kkso3318 it will come back in the same log for a few seasons until the log is used up past a certain point. And I donât think this one would dehydrate well though I have never tried. It would probably just end up a powder if you did
And the mycelium is in the log, the visible mushroom is just the fruiting body so no worries about harvesting it

@@billyin4c514 yup, it is
@reliablyrandomoutdoors Well if you're gonna make a fishing channel , you might want to produce some content which actually impresses people. There's videos of guys taking their small children out to catch fish that are as exciting as this.
@@billyin4c514 haha! đ€Ł. Well I wasnât trying to impress some entitled douche bag, probably why you didnât like it very much. Try growing up a little bit kid. Not everybody is here to serve you.
@@billyin4c514 hey Billy, I saw your channel doesnât have any content on itâŠ. Gosh I wonder why? đ€Ł. I thought you would at least have posted the video of you fishing a short qtr mile stretch of the Elkhart riverâŠ. đ„Č đ
@reliablyrandomoutdoors You're creating content for men that fish all the time, unless you're content is interesting for an angler, then you're not producing contact worthy of the category. I'm not a douchebag, you don't fucking understand the content you're supposed to be producing. You're supposed to excite people, through your competence (maybe I've found the issue). They're supposed to be living vicariously through the content that you make, otherwise they would just go do it themselves. Here's the thing, you think you produce an intelligent objection, you didn't. Which makes sense, because you aren't smart enough to understand what you're doing. Now go catch some fucking fish, no one is interested in being amused by novelty suited for eight year olds. Unless you're working for the DNR and producing a video on aquatic life in Indiana water, make an exciting fishing show.
Great video
Thanks!

Great content, but please don't put your dog in the back of your pickup. It's illegal in Indiana for a reason. Dogs can easily get thrown if you brake hard.
@@idgirl7761 sorry bro I respect your opinion, and it very well may be illegal in the state of Indiana, that doesnât make that law necessary though. The dog man truck bed relationship is one worth hanging onto regardless of overbearing government. And regardless of whether or not people can handle this emotionally, that dog is safer in the bed of a truck im an accident because if he lands on me or one of my children in an accident because heâs incapable of being buckled, so be it. Pretty sure even for him his odds of surviving go up if he doesnât have a windshield to crash into.
quick google search, and Indiana does not have a law about dogs in the bed of a pickup truck. But ya did get me thinking, there is a right and wrong way to drive with a dog in the bed. Maybe Iâll make a video on it. Itâs kind of like driving on snow.

Careful eating them like that my man, youâre only supposed to consume the yellow gelatinous jelly around the seeds. Eating the skin, white flesh, and seeds can put a lot of extra toxins in your body.
Thanks for the heads up, been a minute since I read up on it but if memory serves I had places it in a category with elderberries, where moderation is the key. Btw to any forager out there this is important as almost all edible plants are bad for you in large qty, for example the massive number of them high in oxalic acid etcâŠ. Thanks for the callout, itâs always good to stay safe out there

@@manko717 haha! Happens all the time! And here is what Iâve learned. Mitchell reels are hands down the most rugged reels out there. I frequently fish chest deep so Iâve learned this one the hard way. The reel in this video is a Mitchell Avocet 320. Unfortunately, they do not distribute them in the United States anymore so if you get a chance to get one of those reels get it, it will last forever. Just throw some grease on it every now and then. I call them the AK47 of fishing reels

I use to use grubs a lot as a kid fishing. Sadly i havent seen any grubs to use. How crazy is that? Yes, i dug around rotted logs under bushes to find them. These are places where you find grubs at the base of bushes and especially rotted logs.
Hmm thatâs interesting. Junebug and Japanese beetles are the most visible grubs. Are they not common around you?

I very rarely overhand cast. The reason a lot of spots have over hanging trees. I worked really hard to get more accurate side arm cast even side arm cast where lure goes straight. I'll usually aim my arm at a 45 degree angle for lure to go straight casting side arm.
Oh yes, Iâve decorated a few lure trees myself. Sidearm vs overhead each has their time and place. All things are on the table when I fish.

I've never seen anybody recommend putting both hands on the side of the kayak near to you to pull yourself back in. Doing that increases the chances of pulling the kayak back over and upside down again. Reach across one hand to the opposite side and one on the near side, and keep your legs out behind you near the surface of the water. Then as you pull yourself up using both arms, give a good kickthrust forward and aim to get your stomach on the seat/middle of the cockpit. That's it.
Haha! đ You donât have a lot of friends do you? đ€Ł
@@reliablyrandomoutdoors That's a really sad response, from what is supposed to be a professional site. Saddest part is that you know that what you demo-ed in this video isn't the best way to get into a kayak in open water, but instead of admitting that, and planning a better demo, you take personal shots And, yeah, son, I've got lots of friends, all of them kayakers, and each of them more knowledgeable than you've shown yourself to be in this video and your response. Please, don't give 'advice' to people about how to do things correctly in the water, until you learn it yourself. Your kind of 'expertise' can get people hurt.
@@squirrelbutler2119 who said anything about this being a professional site? Not me thatâs for damn sure! So Iâm genuinely worried about you. So Iâm gonna go out on a limb here and assume you have no actual experience on the water. I assume this because you are watching reboarding videos. I also assume that because you have watched some videos you now consider yourself an expert. Seems dangerous. Oh and I asked if you had any friends out of concern for you. Seems plausible that you treat everybody in your life in a hyper critical judgemental fashion and I was just curious how it impacts your relationships with others? If you want a real lesson in reboarding go back and find my video where I winter tested my ability to reboard by doing it in 38 degree water. testing my ability to reboard with weakened grip and shock to deal with. But no, youâre obviously an expert because saving your own life is all about where you put your hands while you are doing it

If you were a kayaker, you'd enjoy them. But, again, we all know you're not. Look, your anger is absolutely off the charts. Look back on this chat trail. I simply pointed out that your video doesn't show the optimal way to get back on to a kayak. That's it. But you've kind of gone crazy in your responses. Good man you are for turning the brown trout loose...
what size pencil weights do you bring? i understand it will vary of current speed. Also where do you buy your jigs from and pencil weights. Are you throwing just the hair jig or adding skein? thank you
Just jigs no skein. I was using a feather jig, Hair is also fine, the pencil weights I don't remember the size but get the bigger ones, because lead is soft enough you can snap them off with fishing plyers or even hemostats, so i start heavy and then reduce weight by cutting the lead off. I like the feather jigs best because they do a good job of holding some air in them, i think thats why i had better luck with them than the hair jigs. BTW I mean whole feathers, not mairbou down. at least thats what i was using that day. BTW i had ordered them online, not sure if i saw any whole feather jigs in the bait stores up there or not
