When teams played two strikers. None of this false 9 rubbish we have today. Football is being spoilt by too much tactics. Its gone boring with the obsession with keeping possession without going anywhere. Prime example in the cup final. City had over 70% but had less shots on target than Utd. Oh for the days of Hill and Coppell on the wings beatin the full back and getting the ball into Pearson and Greenhoff.
Exactly, football is a simple game, speed, skill and fitness combined to out play the opposition. Evidently Tommy Docherty just used to tell jokes & stories before he sent his side out to pummel the opponents 😂
@@SpireUtd that team he had was a joy to watch. My first game at Old Trafford was against Sheffield Utd in August 1975. They won 5-1 that day. Martin Buchan was my favourite. Brilliant defender. Would find today's football a stroll. I'm 64 and have supported utd since I was 8.
He infamously scored 6 goals in this game, while drunk. Please note, that's NOT a joke either.
Northampton's millions, sunk by poor utd.
The one and only and played on some terrible pitches and uncompromising defenders here and in Europe.
Fantastic target man was Pancho, hold the ball and release his midfielders and wingers, as good as Sparky Hughes. Signed for 200k from Hull City by the Doc to spearhead Uniteds return to the first division, which he did.
George Best You are a Fantastic Football player You are the Best George Best Good bye the Belfast boy World legend Maradona Cruyff Pele George Best is the Best
There is not a player around today as good as that guy
I was right side in the Stretford. Brilliant team. Fantastic football. Home or Away Terrific days out with the Red Army & my mates.
Me too. Although Hull away was fing rough
Love the quality of the pitch. They had to be good in those days !
Wonderful commentary from the legendary Hugh Johns ITV’s midlands commentator. I love his voice and his famous “Oh what a beautiful goal” lives in my 69 year old memory.
Ashley Grimes 107 apps over 6 years, 11 goals. Cost £28,000 transferred to Coventry for £200,000. Not a bad record is it?
Pure brilliance..!! World Class..
Forgotten man but great servant to United.
Emperor Cantona thank you for service

Good soundtrack; Stone Roses, Charlatans, Smiths, Happy Mondays..
Imagine the wonderful Messi playing on that pitch.

I HEAR VAN NISTLEROY.SHOCKED AT THE TIME SAID SOMETHING PETTY ABOUT CRISTIANO AND WAS SOLD BECAUSE WHEN CRISTIANO FIRST CAME TO UTD HE WAS A BIT OFF A NOT TEAM PLAYER AND RUUD WAS FRUSTRATED WITH HIM. HE SPOKE HIS MIND THE SAME AS THE SQUAD AND WAS THE BIGGEST FERGUSON MISTAKE SELLING VAN NISTLEROY.SHOCKED AT THE TIME HE WAS EXCELLENT STRIKER 😢. FERGUSON S BIGGEST MISTAKE 4SURE 😊 18:22
Pancho, scoreboard paddock that day for me
The FA were a shower of cowardly fuckers
My first hero
He single handled made modern football famous. The GOAT
I was there also one of my first times in the Stretford End.Was only 16 went by train from Hertfordshire .Great days, great memories.
Wow I think you should consider to made video and tell and share us the complete story and experiences watching this game, my friend :)
Sad bastard, how about supporting your home town team? Are there any rags that are actually from our city? I was also there behind the scoreboard, in the days when we never won at the swamp, now it’s every season.11 long years

Walk a million miles for one of your goals my Stuart
He is the reason why I am a United fan today
The fact that he came back won the league and FA cup, then gave the number 7 shirt to Beckham and the captain armband to Keane then retired. Legend.
Where was the running to the crowd sliding on his knees ?
He didn't look very happy at all...
Do you know why he wasn't happy?....because Everton Tw@tted them 3-1...on the first day of the season!...Alan Ball Two...Alex Young one....
George....Best, Cantona most influencial. !!
He scored what I remember as a header from outside the box in a European cup game in Nov 1965 (away to a Berlin team). Might you have video of that for youtube?
Only Eddie Gray was better.
Eddie Gray was truly brilliant footballer but better that George Best. i don't think so
Completely RIDICULOUS
He's having a right Giraffe.@@liamflynn8278

To many drugs mate
I was there behind that goal in the Park Lane as a 13 year old and had a great view of it.
So was I
George in 1970 was the finest footballer in Europe. Imagine if he’d been an Englishman, England would have played Brazil in the 1970 World Cup final and then who knows. Best v Pele!
At that time George Best would have been the difference
but as he said himself there was me and Pat Jennings with 9 others who some were from the 1st Division some from the 2nd Division , 3rd Division and the 4th Division even players were part time from the Irish League
Finest in the World.
But it's only Tottenham
Tottenham was one of the best teams of 60s. You need to learn
@@dvra2203 really early 60's they were great then faded

I am from Toulon a rugby working class town and Johnny Wilkinson is our Eric Cantona. He is a god here and considering the particular rivalry that exists in rugby between England and France: he is definitely the most popular Englishmn in the country
And I was there!

Cantona is the reason why i love MU

He made the mid 90s unforgettable.
This man made me excited about life in general not just football was on another level
The FA have always been a bunch of craven ar*eholes.
Cantona was a genius not a normal footballer he was the greatest French player ever
Special player ,but speaking as a united fan I'd have to say Platini was the best French footballer.
That title belongs to Zidane mate
