I owned one of these new, back in the day! I seem to remember that the phono sockets were always tight when I plugged cables in. It was almost like the sockets were slightly oversized. this may be the reason why you found some broken on this unit. Heat wise it is a poor design - I regularly found quite literally components desoldering themselves! Sound-wise, paired with the M85, it sounded glorious. Regardless of how difficult the room furnishings/acoustics were, the parametric controls could fine-tune out any problems

Hi! Thanks excellent information, just one doubt: how exactly do you remove the front ring the cosmetic one, you mentioned that with tweezers but I’m stuck in this point, in all mi Leica lenses this part usually come of with my rubber tool and turning the thread or with a small screw under it please help! And thanks!

I was concerned lately that the old "hot breath" method of lubricating the optical surface for cleaning was passe, or even "wrong", because none of the manufacturers recommend that practice. Instead they want to sell you some expensive concoction or impregnated tissues. A Google search recommended AGAINST this technique, but I was not convinced. Understand that I'm a Cinematographer and I'm mostly concerned with the front elements of lenses that cost as much as $40K or even $100K for zooms. I am greatly reassured by your empirical example in continuing to clean lenses with my own hot breath; I've found that it is still the best method, even for oily finger prints. FYI, I learned at the same time (early 70's) to use "nose grease" to lubricate tight lens mounts (especially CA-1 mounts on Eclair NPR's).
