    Happy I found this vid. I’m currently looking at a 2018 Q7 200KW getting my mechanic to look it over tomorrow. Not the top spec but has the tech pack, panoramic roof, visual cockpit etc. also no tow bar which I like breccias I tow and would rather buy a non-towing car and put one on it. First thing I’ll do when I get it is change out all the diff/trans/transfer car fluids.

    The transmission error didn't scare other buyers. The DSG did, and for good reason. I'm a VW fanboy but I will never own another DSG equipped car. Especially a high mileage one. You dodged a bullet.

    • @PrecisionAutoSource
      @PrecisionAutoSource Před 7 dny

      The DSG transmission can be a reliable unit as long as it's maintained properly. I have personally not had any issues even with high mile units. Lifetime fluids do not exist :)

    They produced over 200.000 of them. That is the main reason the prices haven't skyrocketed. But come to think of it... neither have BMW 8-series although they made much less of them. Pretty much only air cooled Porsches and Ferraris are worth stupid money. I don't think it's a bad thing that you can buy a very good SL for 20K. Values have little to do with how much you can enjoy the fine car.

    Hello! Having the "warm air" issue - Pressure ~7bar in system seems ok, coolant gas was refilled to full, fan and belt are moving though. Any way to check whether compressor is working without any special equipment (garage equipment)? Garage which filled to coolant gas wants to change the compressor and dryer, for around 800-1000 bucks. Thx in advance

    • @PrecisionAutoSource
      @PrecisionAutoSource Před 10 dny

      You would need a scanner to check the pressure and if the compressor is in ON state.

    My local Audi dealer stated that the transmission on my 2017 q7 is not serviceable, and the differentials are not serviceable. Is that accurate?

    • @PrecisionAutoSource
      @PrecisionAutoSource Před měsícem

      Not Accurate, they are very much so. The dealer will tell you lifetime fluids which translates into lasting until your factory warranty expires. Lifetime fluids do not exist...all loose their original lubricating properties over time. Even the manufacturer of the transmission (ZF) recommends changing every 50k.

    Did this fix the issue? My Z4 just blows hot air right now. I thought maybe it was low on freon so I put some gauges on it and it appeared to do the exact same thing you described. Unplugging and re-plugging in the pressure switch cause the compressor to work for a couple seconds then drop off.

    Finally a good video on the Q7! Thank you. I currently reached 107k on my 2018 / 3.0 without any problems thus far. I do oil changed every 5k and add a half or a quart in between do to engine burn which I haven't found a reason as to why though the Q7s burn. .. Anyhow I'm about to do all the same maintenance so thank you for this video! Did you notice any difference on differential with new fluids? I've heard it could start slipping once changed not sure how true that it, but I'm changing it. Again great video!

      To shine some light on the oil consumption of the audi 2.0T and 3.0T. I had a 2013 Q5 with the 2.0T engine which had 45K miles on it when I bought it. Oil consumption was about 1 quart between oil changes, when I reached around 110K miles on the engine, it really started consuming a lot more oil, up to 3 quarts between oil changes. I started looking deeper into this issue and found some literature where Audi is well aware of this issue, they even had a TSB (technical service bulletin) in regards to this oil consumption issue where Audi in many cases would take care of it up to 100K miles on the engine. The problem is the piston rings not sealing properly and letting oil seep into the combustion end of the system thus burning it off through the exhaust. Really only way audi can repair this is with a partial engine rebuild by replacing the cylinder pack, liners and rings OR a complete engine swap replacement. Now I have a 2017 Audi Q7 3.0L with 85K miles and zero issues in regards to oil consumption but that is not to say that Audi fixed their known problem. Many people out there still have the oil consumption issue and most dealers would tell you that it's normal which is far from normal in my option. Vehicles manufactured in Germany for the European market don't have this problem, or it's very minimal in comparison to Audi vehicles designated for the U.S. market which parts are sources from many different countries like Bulgaria or Mexico for instance and are also mainly assembled there and not in Germany. So to sum it up, any 2.0T or 3.0T engine designated for the U.S. marked is prone to oil consumption for about a decade now and Audi is well aware of that. Hopefully this helps some current owners and future buyers in their decision making when considering these two types of engine made by Audi for the U.S. market

    When I used to do this work I never placed the metal cone center spacers on the inside of aluminum wheels that have the small center holes..its much faster and better to use it on the outside of the center hole and remove the plastic cone from the fastener which forces the wheel to be perfectly centered on the balancer. The only time I had to do it the "normal" way was larger center hole steel wheels.

      @@biturbos4 another bonus of doing it the way I do is the arms are pulled in to begin with making it easier to break the bead on the tire, you dont need to worry as much about if there is room that the tire will hit one of the clys. once bead is broken just throw tire on top of table and hit the pedal. the pads will come out and grab the rim and be centered right away, no playing around to make sure they have grabbed the rim and are level.
