Thanks for the tunning refresher Ms. Morris.
Ciao 😊😊😊
If you guys got the "learn 4 chords and learn 100 songs ad" it's BS
This was valuable for me. Thank you
thankyou so much
Thank you Miss Morris! 69 years old with my first bass.
My new Viola is Acoustic Electric, & since alot of them are often too small to resonate properly, using the Pickup & plugging it into the amp helped me work around this issue. That said, Carleen Hutchins cleverly solved the playability problem of those Larger Violas that optimized for the notes it produces by reorienting it to be played vertically like a Cello, since the body is big enough for that too.
I just got a new Eastman 5 String Acoustic-Electric Viola (model VA7015+ 16.5 inch model, they have a 17 inch version coming soon) which they had it fitted w/ Wittner Fine Tune Pegs so it's easier to tune. The neat thing about this 5 String Viola is that it features a High E String (like the Violin) which allows me to get some higher notes (it's strung w/ D'addario Helicore Long Scale Medium Tension Viola Strings plus a Matching High E String for ease of playability) & for super big versatility. Eastman is best known for their innovative quality instruments modeled after instruments from famous Luthiers. The bow that came w/ mine is a CodaBow Joule & the regular Bow hair was replaced w/ Coruss Synthetic Bow hair so it's more durable (the Rosin is D'addairo's new Clarity Synthetic Rosin).
Great video, thank you so much. My son plays guitar and figured he knows how to tune anything leaving Dad to figure out how to fix it.
Gratitude Lisa
Great video. Mrs. Morris missed her calling as a comedienne!
Super! ALWAYS amplify and reverb outdoors. We must at least be as HEARD as all other music blasted into the atmosphere.
I'm so proud of my girls
I bought a cello from china...it has only one fine tuner...so how can tune 4 strings by one fine tuner.
Thank you!
I tried to tune my cello, first A string popped 213hz and second one popped at 200hz, Jargar blue medium, any idea what ma I doing wrong?
I don't see her showing the app working for her either.
None of the tuning apps for viola seem to work.
Lisa Morris That Yamaha Violin I have is tuned down a step to Cajun Tuning (F, C, G, D) because it matches this Music box that plays Watermelon Man:czcams.com/video/_6zPhHdJTcM/video.html
What doesthe pitch tuning programme you use?
Super helpful. Thank you.
If she would shut up and get on with tuning the instrument, this would be a 3 minute video!
What is the tuner app called
They never get to the point you have to listen to them talk about their life's experiences and look at their stupid face before they get anywhere
Lisa Morris My Cello is tuned up a Half Step so that I can play w/ Marching Bands, why can't all your students have their instruments tuned up a Half Step so they could play along w/ Wood Wind players? Wouldn't tuning up a half step require really thin strings designed for that tuning or something?
Lisa Morris You can even use Mechanical Geared Pegs because they actually make tuning the instrument a Snap. Guess you should give em a shot.
This is sooooo helpful 🤍
I struggle with the pegs being loose enough to turn but tight enough to hold
You might need some ‘peg compound’. You might need a teacher or luthiers help to apply it.
@@teacherofstrings thank you. I'll look one up
Thanks 😊
As a non believe, I'd like to say if there is an afterlife, I'm dam near certain you be on get the highest part of heaven. Thank you so so much. This is so good and such a life saver.
IM SO SCARED THE STRINGS ARE GOING TO SNAP
Don’t worry! Just don’t turn it very much.

I installed a set of Helicore Medium Tension Cello Strings (5 String Set with the High E) because the stranded steel core helps them hold tune better. They're also easier to bow cause they're a little bit thinner.
My Cello is a very well built 5 String Acoustic-Electric Cello made by Yinfente. It has a High E String (same as the Violin but an Octave lower) which moves the higher notes to an easier position, & because it's thinner it also gives the higher notes more clarity. I had to replace the friction pegs on my Cello (and fine tuners too) with geared tuners because Geared tuners make tuning alot more beginner friendly. The Wood Violins Cobra Fretted Cello (up to 6 Strings) has geared tuners which makes tuning alot easier, and the frets make it easier to find where the notes are (especailly with the models that have up to 6 Strings very well suited to advanced players). It uses a strap which keeps the instrument in playing position, meaning no pain, no worries.
They make Fiddle Fretters for Violin, Viola, and Cello which seem like a good idea (Double Bass version coming soon) because students will have a smoother experience following along on the Frets.
The Wood Violins Viper Violin has machine head tuners which make tuning it easier. I highly reccomend replacing the friction pegs & fine tuners with geared tuners cause tuning will get easier this way.
This is extremely helpful!! My middle school teacher never taught us how to tune so when I wanted to pick the viola up again I realized I never knew how to tune, so thank you for this!
Same!!!!
My middle school teacher said that we didn’t need to know how to tune, now the high school is asking me why I don’t know how. This video really helped
So true! I was in Orchestra class and the next year our music teacher left. So I kept the Viola and I realized that my A string was lose and I was scared until I found this Video Lmao 😂
Same my teacher never taught me ❤️ this helped so much
this is the same shit as the cello video!!! She repeats herself and is not reflective with music educators!!!!

Thank you Mrs S@SS
Thank you MrsS@SS
I finally found the nerve to tune the 3 strings with the pegs G. E. + A... after calling violin instructors ....all are virtual ( afraid the bridge may fall) Thanks for your video! MrsS@SS
I got my Yinfente 5 String Cello
Thank you Mrs S@ SS
Tuning a guitar banjo and ukulele are easier! I take it to Sam Ash Music store ...but I really have to jump right in and tune it G and now E I’ve been shifting to 3 rd position on the A string to practice Violinist since Coronavirus “Musician “ since 1975 Wish I started on Violin in 1975! Mrs S @SS
A string went out of tune ✅ In tune Thanks for your help
you the real mvp in this ting
What if don't have those tiny things only the pegs?
If you are beginner I suggest that you find a good violin luthier and get the fine tuners put on your instrument. You also may have geared pegs. In that case this video will not help you much. I don’t like geared pegs, I feel like they make it more difficult to get the instrument in tune. However, I only had 1 student with them so I don’t have a lot of experience tuning with them. It is the same concept, but the gear will allow you to make those tiny adjustments that the fine tuners are for. You want to find a violin shop. Someone there can tell you what you have and what you need. Violin shops with real luthiers tend to be notoriously honest and fair with prices in the US. I don’t have experience with other countries. I can make a recommendation if I know where you live. But don’t put it on here. Find me on Facebook and IM me.
@@teacherofstrings Dear Lisa, Thank you so much for the response! So far I have installed two fine tuners on the strings E and A, however, the meeting with the luthier is already arranged for Friday - I need to be sure that everything else works just fine on my violin! You are particularly calming teacher - no more anxiety ♥️
@@darynalarionova6352 Geared pegs might be even easier cause you can take off the fine tuners to enhance the sound
Great video! Highly appreciated!
Good news, I got my first 5 String Electric Cello from Ebay & it should be on its way home. I've wanted to do some song covers & Tutorials with it.
Thank you I am a 12 year old violist and this helped it's pandemic and our teacher is far so this helped
